  • The fundamental characteristics of the cavity-backed slot antenna at 2.45 GHz are analyzed with the method of moment for the use of a part of rectenna element. The proposed antenna has a rectangular-narrow slot on the upper surface and a feed post and a parasitic post inside of the cavity. The interior posts are perpendicular to the slot surface in order that the microwave circuits can be attached to the bottom of the cavity. Theoretical results shows that the maximum return loss of 50 dB at the input terminal of the antenna is achieved.

  • A network is an important portion of communications in these days. Because of many inconveniences of a wired-network, wireless solutions have been studied for many years. One of the results of those efforts is IEEE 802.11, wireless LAN. This paper briefly summarizes wireless LAN and specially focuses on the design of a network processor for the wireless LAN system. The processor has 16-bit instruction set suitably selected for network processing and low-power consumption. It is implemented and verified with a wireless LAN system model. The wireless LAN system is modeled in RTL excluding the RF module. The processor can be used in many wireless systems as a controller and utilized as a test module for the research of low-power schemes.

  • Measurements of the RF(Radio Frequency) noise spectrum from 30 MHz to 18 GHz have been conducted at 21 urban areas in Korea in 1994 and 1995. Statistical analysis of the data measured seasonally, day and night, at each different point has been performed. The results of the computer analysis on APD, NAD, and ACR[1] using GUI(Graphical User Interface) program show that the radio noise environments vary little in spring, summer, and winter, while the noise level increases a little in fall. In addition, the noise level of the night time shows a little higher than that of the day time.

  • In this paper, authors realize water AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) network using low power ZigBee protocol included routing ability for improving wireless communitation error detection and network range. ZigBee wireless standard is an important standard of the field related Ubiquitous industry and recently has application to Home-Network. It's special features are to spend low power and to include routing ability each terminator. Because of these features, authors realize water AMR system on Embedded system using ZigBee protocol for applying to transfer data between a water meter and RF module equipped with a water meter in each house.

  • In this paper, we consider the development methodology of wireless monitoring system for a distribution transformer. The master/ slave devices are installed in the power distribution feeder and measure the current state of pole or ground transformers. After measuring, the devices send the measurement data to operating room through the wireless network such as RF and CDMA so that the power distribution supervisor can prevent a distribution transformer damaging caused by overloads and imbalance of loads.

  • In this paper, we propose an active 90$^{\circ}$ phase divider for application to MMIC. Because of their very large size, conventional passive 90$^{\circ}$ dividers can't be integrated on MMIC. Therefore, highly miniaturized 90$^{\circ}$ dividers are required for a development of highly integrated MMIC. For this reason, active 90$^{\circ}$ divider is indispensable because active phase divider is much smaller than conventional passive dividers, and it can be integrated on MMIC. In this work, we developed active 90$^{\circ}$ divider with emitter inductor, and it was employed for the operation of the balanced mixer in order to verify the performance of the active 90$^{\circ}$ divider. According to the results, it was found that the active 90$^{\circ}$ divider exhibited good RF performances comparable to conventional passive power dividers.

  • Using the novel microstripline with periodically perforated ground metal, a miniaturized 1/4 ${\lambda}$ transformer was fabricated. The line width of the 1/4 ${\lambda}$ transformer was 20${\mu}m$ and the size of it was 0.0085$mm^2$, which is 1.2% of conventional one. The 1/4 ${\lambda}$ transformer exhibited good RF performances from 10 to 25GHz.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a passive transponder chip for RFID applications. Passive transponders do not have their own power supply, and therefore all power required for the operation of a passive transponder must be drawn from the field of the reader. The designed transponder consists of a full wave rectifier to generate a dc supply voltage, a 128-bit mask ROM to store the information, and Manchester coding and load modulation circuits to be used for transmitting the information from the transponder to the reader. The transponder with a size 410 x 900 ${\mu}$m$^2$ has been fabricated using 0.65 ${\mu}$m 2-poly, 2-metal CMOS process. The measurement results show the data transmission rate of 3.9 kbps at RF frequency 125 kHz.

  • In this paper, an automatic welding carriage is developed by wireless communication. In the developed system, a data transmission of a automatic welding line tracking is adopted by RF communication. Additional, a welding condition of the automatic welding carriage IS displayed by microprocessor. Therefore, the developed system can overcome the restriction of an operating distance and perform an accurate transmission of the control signal.
