고농도 paraquat 잔류 과원토양에서의 콩과 보리 생육 및 작물 잔류 (Growth and crop residue of soybean and barley grown at high paraquat level of the orchard soil)

  • 작물 생육에 끼치는 토양 잔류 Paraquat의 영향을 검토하고, 더불어 작물 재배 전후의 paraquat 토양 잔류량 변화와 작물체 중 잔류량을 조사하였다. 1996년도 우리나라 과원 paraquat 토양 잔류량 조사에서 최고 수준인 30.2 ppm을 나타낸 사과원 토양에서 생육시킨 콩(품종: 알천콩)과 보리(품종: 사천6호)의 약해, 입모수 및 초장에 대한 paraquat의 영향은 없었다. 토양 잔류량은 파종일에 약 $9{\sim}9.8$ ppm 수준이었으며, 90일간의 재배기간 중 약간 더 감소되었다. 또한 작물체내 paraquat 잔류량은 모두 0.5 ppm 검출한계 미만이었다. 한편 파종일에 토양잔류량을 약 $27{\sim}32$ ppm으로 강화시켰던 토양에서의 콩(품종: 단엽콩)과 보리(품종: 탑골보리)의 생육도 paraquat에 의하여 영향을 받지 않았으며, 작물체내 잔류량도 0.5 ppm 검출한께 미만이었다. Paraquat 토양 잔류량은 파종후 30일 동안 크게 변하지 않았다. 이상의 실험 결과는 paraquat 토양 잔류량 30 ppm 수은 후 작물 생육에 영향을 끼치지 않으며, 또한 현재 우리나라 과원 토양에서의 작물이 재배될 경우 작물 생육 및 잔류에 있어서 문제가 없음을 시사하여 주었다.

Effects of dietary levels of tapioca residue on growth performance and carcass characteristics in Hanwoo steers

  • Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary levels of tapioca residue on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and meat composition in Hanwoo steers. Methods: Twenty-eight steers were randomly assigned to one of four dietary groups; T0 (0% tapioca residue), T6.7 (6.7% tapioca residue), T9 (9% tapioca residue), and T12 (12% tapioca residue). Results: Supplementation with tapioca residue had no effect on overall growth performance. The concentration of plasma total cholesterol was higher in T6.7 than in other treatments (p<0.05). Dietary levels of tapioca residue did not affect carcass yield or the quality traits of Hanwoo steers. The lightness, redness, and yellowness of the longissimus muscle of Hanwoo steers were higher in T6.7 than in other treatments (p<0.05). Cohesiveness, gumminess, chewiness, and resilience were lower in T6.7 than in other treatments (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of the present study indicate that supplementation with tapioca residue does not exert any negative effects on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and meat composition in Hanwoo steers. However, as the dietary level of tapioca residue increased, the intake of concentrate intake decreased, and tapioca supplementation greater than 6.7% did not substantially improved the marbling score.

초순수 물(Ultra Pure Water)내 비휘발성 잔류 물질(Nonvolatile Residue, NVR)의 모니터링을 위한 NVR 측정시스템의 개발 (The Development of Nonvolatile Residue (NVR) Particle Monitoring System in Ultra Pure Water)

  • In this study, we developed nonvolatile residue (NVR) real-time monitoring system to measure the nonvolatile residue particle in ultra pure water (UPW). This device has a capability of measuring 4 different channels, i.e., 10 nm, 30 nm, 50 nm, and 100 nm. Until now, the light scattering method to detect RAE(residue after evaporation) was the only choice. However, this method can detect RAE larger than ca. 50 nm. In ultra pure water, RAE particles are usually very small and hard to detect with conventional laser scattering devices. To detect very small RAEs, a new system is developed and tested. The system consists of an atomizer that generates RAE particles and a four channel condensation particle counter (CPC). During the several months' operation in manufacturing line, the system was successfully tested and showed reliable results.

  • Quadratic residue codes are cyclic codes of prime length n defined over a finite field ${\mathbb{F}}_{p^e}$, where $p^e$ is a quadratic residue mod n. They comprise a very important family of codes. In this article we introduce the generalization of quadratic residue codes defined over Galois rings using the Galois theory.

  • We define $Z_16$ quadratic residue codes in term of their idempotent generators and show that these codes also have many good properties which are analogous in many respects to properties of quadratic residue codes over a field.

  • This study was undertaken to find out necessary measures to improve the tolerance setting system of pesticide residues on food crops in Korea which is scientifically reasonable and harmonizable with international standards. Information on tolerance setting systems of pesticide residues by Codex Alimentarius Commission, Joint FAO/WHO Meeting of Experts on Pesticide Residues, USA, EU, Japan and Taiwan was collected and analyzed. On the basis of information in the above countries, necessary actions to be taken by the Korean regulatory authorities were recommended with respect to priority setting, maximum residue limits (MRLs) setting based on field residue data, group MRLs, minor crop problems, quantitation limit and dietary intake assessment.

멸치(Engraulis japonicus) 잔사 분말을 첨가한 칼국수의 최적화 (Optimizing Recipes of Korean-style Cut Noodles with Anchovy Engraulis japonicus Soup Base Residue Powder)

  • To develop Korean-style cut noodles with enhanced protein and calcium levels, we manipulated the ratio of dried anchovy Engraulis japonicus soup base residue powder to wheat flour, using a response surface methodology based on trained panel trials to determine the optimum ratio. Texture analysis and nutritional evaluation were also performed on cut noodles containing dried anchovy soup base residue (CNAR). Higher umami taste and springiness, and lower fishy flavor were strongly correlated with overall acceptability. The optimal CNAR formulation consisted of wheat flour (96.02 g), anchovy residue powder (2.67 g), and water (50.64 mL). CNAR had lower gumminess and adhesiveness (P<0.001), but higher springiness, cohesiveness (P<0.001), and chewiness (P<0.05), than the control (original wheat flour cut noodles). The addition of anchovy soup base residue elevated protein, lipid, and ash levels relative to the control. Color values decreased with increasing residue powder content. In vitro protein and starch digestibility of CNAR were lower than in the control (P<0.001). CNAR yielded significantly higher total free amino acid content than the control (P<0.01), leading to CNAR's improved palatability. Dried anchovy soup base residue can be used in wheat flour cut noodles to improve nutrition, sensory acceptability, and profitability.

소음인의 하리청수(下利淸水)에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Soeumin's Watery Diarrhea with Little Residue)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of the Soeumin's Watery diarrhea with little residue(下利淸水). Methods We examined the Watery diarrhea with little residue and Daeseunggi-tang(大承氣湯) in 『Sanghanlun(傷寒論)』, and considered the quotation and the treatment of the Watery diarrhea with little residue in 『Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元)』. Afterward, we considered the meaning of the Soeumin's Watery diarrhea with little residue by comparing the view of Junggyeong Jang and Jema Lee. Results and Conclusion 1. Jaricheongsu Saeksuncheong(自利淸水 色純靑) is an expression about the aspect of the Watery diarrhea in 『Sanghanlun』. Especially, Saeksuncheong(色純靑) means there is no residue in Watery diarrhea, and is an expression to distinguish from Haricheonggok(下利淸穀). 2. Haricheongsu(下利淸水) is the Watery diarrhea with little residue in 『Donguisusebowon』. It is caused by the coldness of the Soeumin and should be understood separately from Harihwangsu(下利黃水). 3. Considering the characteristics of the Soeumin, Jema Lee divided the aspects of the Watery diarrhea according to turbidity. Then, he suggested Gwangyebujaijung-tang(官桂附子理中湯) in the warm method(溫法), Seed of Crotonis Fructus(巴豆) in the diarrhea method(下法), and Gangchulgwanjung-tang(薑朮寬中湯) in the warm method after using the diarrhea method as the treatment of the Watery diarrhea with little residue, and aimed to treat the coldness of the Soeumin.

Ganoderma lucidum의 생육에 미치는 홍삼박의 영향 (Effect of ginseng residue on the growth of Ganoderma lucidum)

  • 홍삼제품 제조 과정중의 부산물인 홍삼박의 활용 가능성을 조사하기 위하여 여러 가지 담자균의 배양에 홍삼박 추출물을 첨가하여 배양한 후 균체 증식량, 단백질 및 amino acid함량 등을 조사하였으며 그 결과를 보고하는 바이다. 수집 된 담자균 중 G. lucidum과 P. ostreatus가 액체배양에서 균체증식이 양호한 균주로 선발되었으며, 홍삼박 추출물을 0.2% 첨가하였을 때 균체증식량이 가장 많았으며 단백질 함량은 0.5% 첨가하였을 때 l-3%가 증가하였다. Amino acid함량은 인삼박 추출물을 0.2% 첨가하였을 때는 거의 변화가 없었으나 0.5% 첨가하였을 때에는 G. lucidum, P. ostreatus 모두 상당히 증가하였으며 그 증가폭 중 cysteine이 가장 컸다.

DEVELOPMENT OF ADSORBENT USING BYPRODUCTS FROM KOREAN MEDICINE FOR REMOVING HEAVY METALS

  • Most of the herb residue producing from oriental medical clinics(OMC) and hospitals(OMH) is wasted in Korea. To develop of adsorbent for removing heavy metal from wastewater, the various pre-treatment methods of the herb residue were evaluated by potentiometric titration, Freundlich isotherm adsorption test and the kinetic adsorption test. The herb residue was pre-treated for increasing the adsorption capacity by cleaning with distilled water, 0.1 N HCl and 0.1 N NaOH and by heating at $370^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. It showed a typical weak acid-weak base titration curve and a short pH break like commercial activated carbon during photentiometric titration of pre-treated herb residue. The log-log plots in the Freundlich isotherm test were linear on the herb residue pre-treated with NaOH or HCl like commercial activated carbon. The adsorption capacity(qe) in the Freundlich isotherm test for $Cr^{6+}$ was 1.5 times higher in the pre-treated herb residue with HCl than in activated carbon. On the other hand the herb residue pre-treated with NaOH showed the good adsorption capacities for $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ and $Cd^{2+}$ even though those adsorption capacities were lower than that of activated carbon. In kinetic test, most of heavy metals removed within the first 10 min of contact and then approached to equilibrium with increasing contact time. The removal rate of heavy metals increased with an increase of the amount of adsorbent. Likewise, the removal rates of heavy metals were higher in the herb residue pre-treated with NaOH than in that pre-treated with HCl. The adsorption preference of herb residues pre-treated with NaOH or HCl was $Pb^{2+}>Cu^{2+}$ or $Cd^{2+}>Cr^{6+}$ in the order. Conclusively, the herb residue can be used as an alternative adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals depending on pr-treatment methods.
