Channel Capacity of Mobile Communication System Using Switching Repeater (스위칭 중계기를 사용한 이동통신 시스템의 채널용량)

  • 이동통신 시스템에서 지하 주차장, 지하상가, 터널, 빌딩내부등과 같이 기지국에 의한 신호의 커버리지가 충분하지 못한 지역들이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 영역의 경제적인 해결 방안으로 중계기가 널리 사용된다. 그러나, 중계기의 수가 증가할수록 역방향 링크의 기지국으로 유입되는 잡음 전력이 중계기의 숫자에 비례하여 증가하기 때문에 채널 용량이 감소하게 된다. 수십, 수백개의 중계기가 하나의 기지국에 연결되는 상황에서 이러한 채널 용량의 감소는 더 이상 무시할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 커버리지 내에 통화중인 사용자가 없을 때에 자동적으로 동작하지 않는 스위칭 중계기를 제안하였다. 스위칭 중계기를 사용하면 중계기의 커버리지 내에 통화중인 사용자가 없을 때 불필요한 잡음 레벨을 줄일 수 있다. 스위칭 중계기를 사용한 이동통신 시스템의 역방향 링크 채널 용량을 수학적으로 분석하여 스위칭 중계기를 사용하지 않는 상황과 비교하였다. 그 결과 스위칭 중계기를 사용할 때 충분히 채널용량이 개선되었음을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, Filter could use to IMT2000 repeater using resonator of Comb-line form that has waveguide structure and designed. Coupled resonators designed using slot in wall between resonators to compact. 5-stage resonators have equal structure and input and output part was optimized to get into minimum impedance. Band pass filter characteristic satisfied design condition as result that used Chebyshev function that have 0.2 dB ripple and analyze using simulation tool.

  • We herein analyze the survivability of an airborne platform when an active decoy delivers jamming attacks against an active RF seeker system that operates based on the proportional navigation guidance law. In encounter scenarios with various conditions, such as platform maneuvering, the decoy's RF specification, and the seeker's approaching range and angles, the missed distance of the RF seeker is evaluated. By comparing the missed distance with the proximity of the fuze range, the platform's survivability is determined and the survival area of the platform is drawn on several encounter scenarios.

  • In the case of a radar repeater that used for the trajectory tracking of a high-speed aircraft, it emits pulses of short width. For phase displacement of these signals a branch type phase shifter is used. The phase on the transmission line is changed by utilizing the variable reactance at the end of the displacement branch transmission line. Further, it is easy to control the high output signal, and there is an advantage that the insertion loss is not large even when the reactance fails. In this paper, we will discuss the fabrication test results of a 400 W class phase shifter that sequentially displaces the phase at $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$.

  • A mobile satellite broadcasting service including an ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) takes advantage of the satellite's inherent capability to provide broadcast service over global coverage. We consider the downlink transmission concept using ATC with space=time code (STC) for the mobile satellite communication. We do not regard ATC as simply a repeater but consider it as an antenna for STC. First transmission scenarios for an application of STC are represented. Next, we apply STC in the mobile satellite system including ATC and compare the system performance in the proposed architecture of ATC to that in the conventional structure. The simulation results are compared to the conventional downlink transmission concept for the mobile satellite broadcasting service.

  • In this paper, a dual polarized broadband antenna fed by L-shaped strip for the Korea PCS band and W-CDMA band is presented. To analyze the characteristics of the designed antenna, we used commercial simulation tool(HFSS). The designed antenna was fabricated and measured using HP8753D vector network analyzer. The measured impedance bandwidth(VSWR<1.5) is 560 MHz and the measured average gain is 6.56 dBi. The measured isolation characteristic between two ports is -14 dB(min.) $\sim$ -40 dB(max.). These results are proper for the mobile communication application and repeater antenna.

  • The energy efficiency and bandwidth efficiency are two important criterion in designing a modulation scheme Especially the constant envelope property must be considered as in the non-linear channel tht exit, for example in the nonlinear amplifiers for satellite repeater. The Q$^{2}$AM(Quadrature Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) is a new modulation scheme which combines the Q$^{2}$PSK(Quadrature Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) scheme which increases the signal space dimension and the QAM scheme which increases the bandwidth efficiency using the multi-level signal. The Q$^{2}$AM scheme has by far superior spectrum efficiency compared with the existing modulation schemes. Applying this scheme in the non-linear communication system increses the bandwidth efficiency but cannot envelop property. In this paper, a new system architecture is suggested which satisfies the large spectrum efficiency and constant envelope property by implementing the linear block coding prior to the Q$^{2}$AM modulation. the system has improved in performance by gaining the constant envelope and the additional coding gain. We able to observe the performance improvement of the suggested system(at BER=10$^{-5}$ ) of 4.4 dB for the 16-QAM and 0.7 dB for the Q$^{2}$PSK under the exact spectrum efficiency.

  • In this study, we design and implement a cavity filter for the Korea T-DMB broadcasting transmitter station and repeater system. HFSS 3 dimensional field simulation tool is used for this study. T-DMB filter has to be high quality factor Q, and cavity filter is applying in T-DMB system due to high handling power. We use HFSS simulation tool for design to obtain exact resonant frequency with easy design. A cavity filter is implemented based on the simulated results, and test results are compared with simulations. Measured resonant frequency and bandwidth are 211.8MHz and 0.1MHz, and correspond with design values.

  • In this paper, we present a new method for the reduction of the PAPR (peak to average power ratio) of OFDM signals. The idea behind the proposed method is that IFFT is implemented often with software for a digital signal processor such that we may avoid the repeated calculations to reduce the computational operations: we define sub-sequences in the IFFT process and then multiply the optimum phase rotation factors to them to minimize the PAPR. The PAPR reduction performance of the proposed method is equal to that of the interleaved partition scheme of the PTS (partial transmit sequence) method with only 1/3 computational operations of it.

  • In future warfare, most part of resources and their platforms would be replaced by unmanned system like UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle). They are also connected each other with communication network and it is called NCW(Network Centric Warfare) environment. Hence how to measure the effectiveness of UGV operated in NCW circumstance become an important issue. However, there are few research paper to deal with this kind of UGV effectiveness issue coupled with communication failure. In this paper, we proposed a new ABM process to measure the UGV effectiveness combined with communication success ratio based on terrain condition of the ground engagement. Additionally, we also provide the effectiveness analysis result when communication repeater is applied in case of communication failure.
