PENALIZED APPROACH AND ANALYSIS OF AN OPTIMAL SHAPE CONTROL PROBLEM FOR THE STATIONARY NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS

  • This paper is concerned with an optimal shape control problem for the stationary Navier-Stokes system. A two-dimensional channel flow of an incompressible, viscous fluid is examined to determine the shape of a bump on a part of the boundary that minimizes the viscous drag. by introducing an artificial compressibility term to relax the incompressibility constraints, we take the penalty method. The existence of optima solutions for the penalized problem will be shown. Next, by employing Lagrange multipliers method and the material derivatives, we derive the shape gradient for the minimization problem of the shape functional which represents the viscous drag.

  • This paper describes a basic process of reliability analysis in shipped guided weapons. The OMS/MP provides originating data for RAM analysis. However, The process of reliability analysis is often done with an insufficient understanding of OMS/MP. This work proposed the improved reliability analysis process with Relax. It is shown that the process is applicable to shipped guided weapons.

  • In this paper, an iterative MAP approach using a Bayesian model based on the lognormal distribution for image intensity and a GRF for image texture is proposed for despeckling the SAR images that are corrupted by multiplicative speckle noise. When the image intensity is logarithmically transformed, the speckle noise is approximately Gaussian additive noise, and it tends to a normal probability much faster than the intensity distribution. The MRF is incorporated into digital image analysis by viewing pixel type s as states of molecules in a lattice-like physical system defined on a GRF. Because of the MRFGRF equivalence, the assignment of an energy function to the physical system determines its Gibbs measure, which is used to model molecular mteractions. The proposed adaptive iterative method was evaluated using simulation data generated by the Monte Carlo method. In the extensive experiments of this study, the proposed method demonstrated the capability to relax speckle noise and estimate noise-free intensity.

Features of Microphase-Separated Structures in Asymmetric Triblock Copolymers $A_{1}-B-A_{2}$

  • Equilibrium behavior of ABA triblock copolymer with different lengths of endblock A chains was examined using self-consistent field theory by Matsenl. It was found that at small asymmetries, the A block bidispersity reduces the stretching energy of the A domains. This effect causes a slight increase in the domain spacing and shifts the order-order transitions toward higher A volume fractions. At large asymmetries, the short A blocks pull free of their domains allowing their B blocks to relax. A feature of microphase-separated structure of asymmetric poly(methyl acyrylate) (PMA)-b-polystyrene-b-PMA using SAXS, DSC and ESR was experimentally examined. These measurements gave an evidence of the solubilization of short A chains to the B domains.

  • Direct spring loaded pressure relief valve(DSLPRV) is a safety valve to relax surge pressure of the pipeline system. DSLPRV is one of widely used safety valves for its simplicity and efficiency. However, instability of the DSLPRV can caused by various reasons such as insufficient valve volume, natural vibration of the spring, etc. In order to improve reliability of DSLPRV, proper selection of design factors of DSLPRV is important. In this study, methodology for selecting design factors for DSLPRV was proposed. Dynamics of the DSLPRV disk was integrated into conventional 1D surge pressure analysis. Multi-objective genetic algorithm was also used to search optimum design factors for DSLPRV.

  • In this paper, several optimizations are proposed to enhance the quality of lane detection algorithms in automotive applications. Considering the diagonal directions of lanes, the proposed limited Hough transform newly introduces image-splitting and angle-limiting schemes that relax the number of possible angles at the line voting process. In addition, unnecessary edges along the horizontal and vertical directions are pre-defined and removed during the edge detection procedures, increasing the detecting accuracy remarkably. Simulation results shows that the proposed lane recognition algorithm achieves an accuracy of more than 90% and a computing speed of 92 frame/sec, which are superior to the results from the previous algorithms.

  • According to the Labor Standard Law in Japan which was enacted after World War II in 1947, all work hours for adult men, women, and youth were set at a maximum of eight hours per day and forty-eight hours per week. In other words, a six-day work week, with only one-day off, was set. Now we are in the full five-day and two-day off school system. The five-day school week influences on our home life. Students are highly enthused by the new system, in looking forward to their personal time they now have to play with friends, to relax, or just watch TV. To implement this new five-day school system positively and effectively, we should see the point at issue related to the two-day off system from a different angle, which suggests that we should see far ahead into the future.

Estimating small area proportions with kernel logistic regressions models

  • Unit level logistic regression model with mixed effects has been used for estimating small area proportions, which treats the spatial effects as random effects and assumes linearity between the logistic link and the covariates. However, when the functional form of the relationship between the logistic link and the covariates is not linear, it may lead to biased estimators of the small area proportions. In this paper, we relax the linearity assumption and propose two types of kernel-based logistic regression models for estimating small area proportions. We also demonstrate the efficiency of our propose models using simulated data and real data.

  • 이 글에서는 미디어 교차소유의 역설을 말하고자 한다. 신문과 방송의 교차소유를 한국사회에서 도입하기에는 많은 문제가 있고, 교차소유론도 논리적인 결함이 많은 모순 덩어리이기 때문이다. 교차소유 찬성론자들은 많지만, 아직도 ‘왜 교차소유를 해야 하는지’ 제대로 설명하지 못하고 있다. 거대 미디어기업에게 교차소유는 효율성과 시장 지배, 언론권력의 확대라는 차원에서 큰 이득이자 특혜일지 몰라도 다른 미디어, 수용자, 광고주에게는 득보다 실이 훨씬 많을 수 있어 정당성을 따져볼 때 문제다.

  • There are many research Papers and experiments indicating that the geomagnetic field affects the people and living organism. People grow up and build up most of their character through living in dwelling space and have relax and refresh at home. Creating healthy dwelling space is being considered very important in architectural planning and design for providing comfortable living environment and improving quality of life. Therefore. it is necessary to investigate the geomagnetic field and people's response in living space. In this study the vertical component(Z value) of geomagnetic field in detached houses was measured, evaluated by related evaluation criteria, compared with interview survey.
