In plastic and reconstructive craniomaxillofacial surgery, careful preoperative planning is essential to get a successful outcome. Many craniomaxillofacial surgeons have used imaging modalities like conventional radiographs, computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) for supporting the planning process. But, there are a lot of limitations in the comprehension of the surgical anatomy with these modalities. Medical models made with rapid prototyping (RP) technique represent a new approach for preoperative planning and simulation surgery. With rapid prototyping models, surgical procedures can be simulated and performed interactively so that surgeon can get a realistic impression of complex structures before surgical intervention. The great advantage of rapid prototyping technique is the precise reproduction of objects from a 3-dimensional reconstruction image as a physical model. Craniomaxillofacial surgeon can establish treatment strategy through preoperative simulation surgery and predict the postoperative result.
Leaf area index (LAI) is important in explaining the ability of crops to intercept solar energy for biomass production, amount of plant transpiration, and in understanding the impact of crop management practices on crop growth. This paper describes a procedure for estimating LAI as a function of image-derived vegetation indices from temporal series of RapidEye imagery obtained from 2010 to 2012 using empirical models in a rice plain in Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do. Rice plants were sampled every two weeks to investigate LAI, fresh and dry biomass from late May to early October. RapidEye images were taken from June to September every year and corrected geometrically and atmospherically to calculate normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Linear, exponential, and expolinear models were developed to relate temporal satellite NDVIs to measured LAI. The expolinear model provided more accurate results to predict LAI than linear or exponential models based on root mean square error. The LAI distribution was in strong agreement with the field measurements in terms of geographical variation and relative numerical values when RapidEye imagery was applied to expolinear model. The spatial trend of LAI corresponded with the variation in the vegetation growth condition.

Frequent outbreaks of foodborne illness have been increasing the awareness of food safety. Conventional methods for pathogen detection and identification are labor-intensive and take days to complete. Some immunological, rapid assays are developed, but these assays still require prolonged enrichment steps. Recently developed biosensors have shown potential for the rapid detection of foodborne pathogens. In this study, an impedimetric biosensor was developed for rapid detection of Salmonella entritidis in food sample. To develop the biosensor, an interdigitated microelectrode (IME) was fabricated by using a semiconductor fabrication process. Anti-Salmonella antibodies were immobilized based on neutravidin-biotin binding on the surface of the IME to form an active sensing layer. To evaluate the effect of electrode gap on sensitivity of the sensor, 3 types of sensors with different electrode gap sizes (2, 5, and $10{\mu}m$) were fabricated and tested. The impedimetric biosensor could detect $10^3\;CFU/mL$ of Salmonella in pork meat extract with an incubation time of 5 min. This method may provide a simple, rapid, and sensitive method to detect foodborne pathogens.
The widening national capital area of Korea has caused a traffic jam problem with increasing commuting hours. In addition, as the economic crisis goes on, the people moving to the outside of a city has increased. So we expect that the expansion of this metropolitan area will do grow and it will cause a more severe traffic jam in the near future. Therefore, We will study about 'Rapid Railroad Operation in Metropolitan Area' to solve this problem and improve rail's competitive power as a reasonable transportation method. The Rapid Railroad can sharply reduce commuting hours. Also, it is more eco-friendly transportation than the others. Through many cases revealed in both domestics and overseas, we will solve the problem of a traffic jam getting senous m metropolitan area. After studying successful cases of overseas, rapid railroad, such as France and Japan, we will study domestic cases of Yongsan$\sim$Dong-inchoen, Guro$\sim$Cheonan and Gaehwa$\sim$Sin-nonhyeon, and comparison will do made among these case. In conclusion, The introduction of Rapid Railroad show the effective plan for strengthen the competitiveness and solve the traffic problem.

Rapid Prototyping (RP) and Rapid Tooling (RT) were introduced to reduce time-to-market and cost by shortening not only the development phase but also the production phase of the manufacturing process. RP generally builds up a prototype layer by layer, rapidly generating a fully three-dimensional free form shape. RT enables the manufacture of production tools. The integration of RP and RT has the potential for rapid net shaping of thee-dimensional parts, which have geometrical complexity. In this study, net shaping techniques for making three-dimensional parts using RP and RT are described and a sample part are shown. A three-dimensional metal part is manufactured by a new RP process, Variable Lamination Manufacturing by using Expandable Polystyrene Foam (VLM-S), and its application to RT for making a clover punch. In addition, we discussed the technology fusion between metal forming md RP/RT.
The overall objective of this research was to find out the role of rapid mixing conditions in the species of hydrolyzed Al(III) formed by different Al(III) coagulants. When an Al(III) salt is added to water, monomers, polymers, or solid precipitates may form. Different Al(III) coagulants (alum and PACl) show to have different Al species distribution over a rapid mixing condition. During the rapid mixing period, for alum, formation of dissolved Al(III) (monomer and polymer) increases, but for PACl, precipitates of $Al(OH)_{3(s)}$. increases rapidly. Also, for alum, higher mixing speed favoured Al(III) polymers formation over precipitates of $Al(OH)_{3(s)}$ but for PACl, higher mixing speed formed more precipitates of $Al(OH)_{3(s)}$. At A/D and sweep condition, both $Al(OH)_{3(s)}$ and dissolved Al(III) (monomer and polymer) exist, concurrent reactions by both mechanism appear to cause simultaneous precipitation.

$SiO_2$ layer grown by rapid thermal oxidation and $SiN_x$ layer were used for passivating the surface of n-type silicon solar cell, instead of only $SiN_x$ layer generally used in photovoltaic industry. The rapid thermal oxidation provides the reduction of processing time and avoids bulk life time degradation during the processing. Improvement of 30 mV in Voc and $2.7mA/cm^2$ in Jsc was obtained by applying these two layers. This improvement led to fabrication of a large area ($239cm^2$) n-type solar cell with 17.34% efficiency. Internal quantum efficiency measurement indicates that the improvement comes from the front side passivation, but not the rear side, by using $SiO_2/SiN_x$ stack.

Al doped zinc oxide films (ZnO:Al) were deposited on glass substrate by RF magnetron sputtering from a ZnO target mixed with 2 wt% $Al_2O_3$. The as-deposited ZnO:Al films were rapid-thermal annealed. Electrical properties and structural evolution of the films, as annealed by rapid thermal process (RTP), were studied and compared with the films annealed by conventional annealing process. RTP, the (002) peak intensity increases and the electrical resistivity decreases by 20%, after RT annealing. The effects of RT annealing on the structural evolution and electrical properties of RF sputtered films were further discussed and compared also with the films deposited by DC magnetron sputtering.

Recently, life cycle and lead-time of products have been shortened with the demand of customers. Therefore, it is important to reduce time and cost at the stage of manufacturing trial molds. In order to realize a three-dimensional shape on CAD, the machining process has been widely used because it offers practical advantages such as precision and versatility. However, the traditional machining process needs a large amount of time in cutting a product and the remained material causes trouble such as inconvenience for clarity. In this work, a new rapid manufacturing process using the hot tool, Rapid Heat Ablation process, has been developed to overcome such limitations. While the hot tool moves the predetermined path, the heat of the tool decomposes the remained material. The radius of heat affect ed zone related to process parameters was investigated through experiments to improve the quality of ablated parts. In order to examine the applicability of the proposed process, three-dimensional shapes such as hemisphere and standard test part, wereablatedutilizingtheapparatus.
