  • Roll to roll (R2R) manufacturing process, also known as 'web processing', has been tried for producing electronic devices on a flexible plastic or metal foil. To increase the performance and productivity the R2R process, effective control and on-line supervision for web quality becomes very important. Wrinkle is one of the defects, which is incurred due to compressive stresses. A system for on-line measurement of wrinkle is developed using area scan camera and machine vision laser. The 2D image, obtained by area scan camera, is produced by Gaussian regression method to characterize the wrinkle on a transparent web. The experiment proves that 0.3mm wrinkle height can be measured successfully with 74fps.

  • Macroecologists and biogeographers continue to predict the distribution of species across space based on the relationship between biotic processes and environmental variables. This approach uses data related to, for example, species abundance or presence/absence, climate, geomorphology, and soils. Researchers have acknowledged in their statistical analyses the importance of accounting for the effects of spatial autocorrelation (SAC), which indicates a degree of dependence between pairs of nearby observations. It has been agreed that residual spatial autocorrelation (rSAC) can have a substantial impact on modeling processes and inferences. However, more attention should be paid to the sources of rSAC and the degree to which rSAC becomes problematic. Here, we review previous studies to identify diverse factors that potentially induce the presence of rSAC in macroecological and biogeographical models. Furthermore, an emphasis is put on the quantification of rSAC by seeking to unveil the magnitude to which the presence of SAC in model residuals becomes detrimental to the modeling process. It turned out that five categories of factors can drive the presence of SAC in model residuals: ecological data and processes, scale and distance, missing variables, sampling design, and assumptions and methodological approaches. Additionally, we noted that more explicit and elaborated discussion of rSAC should be presented in species distribution modeling. Future investigations involving the quantification of rSAC are recommended in order to understand when rSAC can have an adverse effect on the modeling process.

  • In software R&D artifacts including documents and program code are produced. There are two kinds of software R&D artifacts: Research artifacts and development artifacts. Research artifacts include software R&D planning document, annual report, final report, research note and so on. Software development artifacts include software requirements, software design description, testing plan, test report, and program code. It is important to verify the documents and to test code to check the direction of the R&D. Moreover, we should check relationships as such completeness and consistency between research and development artifacts. The verification and testing help project manager and researchers understand what they do during software projects. Therefore, in this study, we present a process to verify documents and program in software R & D. In the process we check documents produced in software R&D and test program code. We describe the process by using Essence elements including alpha, activity, and competency. We present a case study to show the effectiveness of the process.

  • Photosynthetic parameters of Scendesmus quadricauda, such as the maximum photosynthetic rate ($P_{max}$), photosynthetic efficiency (α) and the initial saturation intensity of irradiance for photosynthesis ($I_K$) were obtained using photosynthesis-irradiance (P-I) curve in a phosphorus-limited chemostat. S. quadricauda exhibitied no photoinhibition until at 200 μmol·$m^{-2}$ . $P_{max}$ (r=0.963, P=0.002) and $I_K$(r=0.904, P=0.013) showed linear relationships with growth rate. Chlorophyll-α concentration and cell dry weight decreased at higher growth rates, ut chlorophyll-α content per cell dry weight increased. The increase in photosynthetic rates at higher growth rates was due to the increase of $P_{max}$ and $I_K$ which was caused mainly by the increase in the absolute amount of chlorophyll-α rather than the increased photosynthetic efficiency of individual chlorphyll-α. The α did not show a significant relationship with growth rate (r=0.714, P=0.111). The cell quota of carbon (r=0.554, P=0.254) was not correlated with growth rate, but cell quota of nitrogen (r=0.818, P=0.047) and phosphorus (r=0.855, P=0.030) exhibited linear correlations with growth rate.

  • This paper provides an evaluation of an optimization-based, multiple-input double-output (MIDO) run-to-run (R2R) control scheme for general semiconductor manufacturing processes. The controller in this research, termed adaptive dual response optimizing controller (ADROC), can serve as a process optimizer as well as a recipe regulator between consecutive runs of wafer fabrication. In evaluation, it is assumed that the equipment model could be appropriately described by a pair of second-order polynomial functions in terms of a set of controllable variables. Of practical relevance is to consider a drifting effect in the equipment model since in common semiconductor practice the process tends to drift due to machine aging and tool wearing. We select a typical application of R2R control to chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) in semiconductor manufacturing in this evaluation, and there are five different CMP process scenarios demonstrated, including mean shift, variance increase, and IMA disturbances. For the controller, ADROC, an on-line estimation technique is implemented in a self-tuning (ST) control manner for the adaptation purpose. Subsequently, an ad hoc global optimization algorithm based on the dual response approach, arising from the response surface methodology (RSM) literature, is used to seek the optimum recipe within the acceptability region for the execution of next run. The main components of ADROC are described and its control performance is assessed. It reveals from the evaluation that ADROC can provide excellent control actions for the MIDO R2R situations even though the process exhibits complicated, nonlinear interaction effects between control variables, and the drifting disturbances.

  • This paper shows that the boundary image sticking can be prohibited completely by using the vacuum sealing process, which means that the residual impurities such as nitrogen or oxygen can be a critical factor inducing the boundary image sticking. The production of boundary image sticking was checked in the test panel fabricated by the $N_2$ or $O_2$ flow during the vacuum sealing process. As a result, the boundary image sticking did not appear in the case of $N_2flow$, whereas the boundary image sticking was observed in the case of $O_2$ flow even though the test panel was fabricated by the vacuum sealing process.

  • Purpose - This paper analyzes how Research and Development (R&D) cartelization and Research Joint Ventures (RJV) affect firms that engage in Cournot competition in their product market using a model in which the Home and Foreign firm produce differentiated products and export their total output to a third country's market. Design/Methodology - In a two-stage game, research expenditures incurred in the first stage improve product quality and are subject to various degrees of spillovers. We consider four different scenarios. Findings - In a symmetric equilibrium we observe the following: (i) an RJV that cooperates in R&D decision yields the highest R&D expenditure. However, the scenario which yields the lowest expenditure depends on the extent of differentiation between the goods and the degree of spillovers; (ii) RJV cartelization yields the highest product quality, output, and consumer surplus in the third country; however, the lowest is produced by R&D competition if spillovers are strong and by R&D cartelization if spillovers are weak; and (iii) each firm's profit is at its minimum in R&D competition and its maximum in RJV cartelization. Furthermore, if spillovers are strong, the profit of each firm in R&D cartelization is greater than that in RJV competition, and vice versa. Originality/value - By analyzing product innovation in international markets, we can find similarities and differences between process R&D and product R&D in international markets.

  • In this study, the properties of Ag-coated $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were observed, while varying the molar ratio of water and $Ag^+$ for the surfactant and $TiO_2$. According to the XRD results, each nanoparticle showed a distinctive diffraction pattern. The intensity of the respective peaks and the sizes of the nanoparticles increased in the order of AT1($R_1=5$)(33.3 nm), AT2($R_1=10$)(38.1 nm), AT3($R_1=20$)(45.7 nm), AT4($R_1=40$)(48.6 nm) as well as AT5($R_2=0.2$, $R_3=0.5$)(41.4 nm), AT6($R_2=0.3$, $R_3=1$)(45.1 nm), AT7($R_2=0.5$, $R_3=1.5$)(49.3 nm), AT8($R_2=0.7$, $R_3=2$)(57.2 nm), which values were consistent with the results of the UV-Vis. spectrum. The surface resistance of the conductive pastes fabricated using the prepared Ag-coated $TiO_2$ nanoparticles exhibited a range 7.0~9.0($274{\sim}328{\mu}{\Omega}/cm^2$) times that of pure silver paste(ATP)($52{\mu}{\Omega}/cm^2$).

  • A distillation column, which is a main facility of the chemical process, separates the desired product from a mixture by using the difference of boiling points. The distillation process requires the optimization and the prediction of operation because it consumes much energy. The target process of this study is difficult to operate efficiently because the composition of feed flow is not steady according to the supplier. To deal with this problem, we could develop a data-driven model to predict operating conditions. However, data preprocessing is essential to improve the predictive performance of the model because the raw data contains outlier and noise. In this study, after optimizing the predictive model based long-short term memory (LSTM) and Random forest (RF), we used a low-pass filter and one-class support vector machine for data preprocessing and compared predictive performance according to the method and range of the preprocessing. The performance of the predictive model and the effect of the preprocessing is compared by using R2 and RMSE. In the case of LSTM, R2 increased from 0.791 to 0.977 by 23.5%, and RMSE decreased from 0.132 to 0.029 by 78.0%. In the case of RF, R2 increased from 0.767 to 0.938 by 22.3%, and RMSE decreased from 0.140 to 0.050 by 64.3%.

  • Threat hunting is defined as a process of proactively and iteratively searching through networks to detect and isolate advanced threats that evade existing security solutions. The main concept of threat hunting is to find out weak points and remedy them before actual cyber threat has occurred. And HMM(Hunting Maturity Matrix) is suggested to evolve hunting processes with five levels, therefore, CSOC(Cyber Security Operations Center) can refer HMM how to make them safer from complicated and organized cyber attacks. We are developing a system for cyber situation awareness system with pro-active threat hunting process called unMazeTM. With this unMaze, it can be upgraded CSOC's HMM level from initial level to basic level. CSOC with unMaze do threat hunting process not only detecting existing cyber equipment post-actively, but also proactively detecting cyber threat by fusing and analyzing cyber asset data and threat intelligence.
