  • The purpose of this study was 1) to determine physical properties, and subjective evaluation of sensation of sports socks with various type of fiber content and fabric structure, and 2) to develop regression equations for predicting each sensation from physical properties of socks. Thirty healthy male students participated in the wear test with ten replications. The ANOVA, Duncans multiple test, and multiple regression, and paired-t test were used in the statistical analysis, using an SAS package. The results of this study are as follows: 1. 100% cotton socks had higher absorbency and wickability among five different socks. Comfort sensation, tactile sensation and fit sensation of socks were significantly influenced by types of fiber content. People felt that polypropylene socks were less comfortable & slightly tighter, and cotton socks were drier than the other socks. Terry socks were warmer than single jersey socks. 2. The results of the regression analysis showed that tactile sensation of socks after exercise can be predicted from the cube of moisture permeability($R^2$=0.99), and fit sensation can be predicted from drop absorbency, moisture permeability, wickability in wale and weight($R^2$=-0.98).

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the BMI and suicidal ideation using Korean Health Panel data from 2009 to 2013 to identify risk factors for suicide. We conducted a logistic regression analysis using the R statistical package to analyze the relationship between the BMI and the suicidal ideation. The results of this study show that all models with BMI had a statistically significant as a significant variable. It was found that the obese group was more likely to suicide ideation than the other groups. Based on these results, we try to find social implications for suicide prevention and intervention.

  • Various data visualization methods are utilized to analyze a huge amount of data. Among various methods, a three-dimensional image requires the rotation of the image to show a stereo image on a two-dimensional screen. This study discusses two methods of batch method and real-time method, which make it possible to construct of stereo images to improve the restriction of the three-dimensional image display with virtual reality. This investigation can be useful to better explore a three-dimensional data structure.

  • This study on stressful life events and coping methods of hypertensive and nonhypertensive patients was applied to people who was divided into two groups from April 5 to March 10, 19 83. One is hospitalized patients in medical wards of three university hospital in Seoul. The other is inhibitants in two Dongs of Seoul. This study compared the number and seversity of stressful life events reported by hypertensive and nonhypertensive patients, indentified coping methods used by the two groups and explored the relationship between stressful life events and coping methods. Two instruments are used in this study. The first one to measure stressful life events, is Holmes & Rahe (1967)'s S.R.R.S. (Social Readjustment Rating Scale). Which is translated & am-ended. So that it consists of 46 items. The second one is for evaluating coping method. It consists of f items amended through preliminary test after consideration of related literature review and survey on the basis of Bell (1977)'s‘18-item-Questionnaire.’The materials were analyzed by S.P.S.S. (Statistical Package for the Social Science) program-The results of analysis were as follows: 1. There were no significant difference in the number and severity of stressful life events reported by hypertensive and nonhypertensive patients (p>.05). 2. There were significant difference in use of short-term coping methods (p<.01) and long-term coping methods (p<.05).

  • Missing value replacement is one of the big issues in data analysis. If you ignore the occurrence of the missing value and proceed with the analysis, a bias can occur and give incorrect results for the estimate. In this paper, we need to find and apply an appropriate alternative to missing data from weather data. Through this, we attempted to clarify and compare the simulations for various situations using existing methods such as MICE and MissForest based on R and time series-based models. When comparing these results with each variable, it was determined that the kalman filter of the auto arima model using the ImputeTS package and the MissForest model gave good results in the weather data.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate knowledge and attitude about oral contraceptives in university students in order to provide better sex education programs and direction. The subjects of this study were 337 university students in M city, during the period from April 1 to April 20, 2001. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS package. The results from this study were summarized as follows : 1. Oral contraceptives related knowledge marked $52.6\pm7.2$ of male students and $53.9\pm5.9$ of females with a range of 14 to 70. The level of female students' knowledge was higher than that of male's but there is not statistically a significant difference(p= .080). Oral contraceptives related attitude marked $60.0\pm10.0$ of male students and $57.4\pm7.8$ of females with a range of 18 to 90. The level of male students' attitude was higher than that of female's and there is statistically a significant difference(p= .011). 2. General characteristics related to oral contraceptives review grade and religion but not related variables statistically significant. 3. Wanted age of oral contraceptives taking medicine and age was correlated positively (r=.178, p=.004). Total knowledge score of oral contraceptives and total attitude score were correlated positively(r=.467 p=.000).

  • In this study, a simple principal component analysis using Lasso is proposed. This method consists of two steps. The first step is to compute principal components by the principal component analysis. The second step is to regress each principal component on the original data matrix by Lasso regression method. Each of new principal components is computed as the linear combination of original data matrix using the scaled estimated Lasso regression coefficient as the coefficients of the combination. This method leads to easily interpretable principal components with more 0 coefficients by the properties of Lasso regression models. This is because the estimator of the regression of each principal component on the original data matrix is the corresponding eigenvector. This method is applied to real and simulated data sets with the help of an R package for Lasso regression and its usefulness is demonstrated.

  • The variations of cold gas properties such as density, pressure, temperature and velocity which are dependent each other are closely related with the dielectric recovery of an interrupter. So, the pressure-rises at no-load in the puffer cylinder and in front of fixed arcing contact of 800kV model interrupter were measured experimentally using pressure transducers of strain gage type and semiconducting type, respectively. The maximum value of pressure-rise in the puffer cylinder increased almost linearly from 7.6 bar at the minimum operated pressure to 9.7 bar at the maximum operated pressure, while the pressure-rise in front of fixed arcing contact was independent with the operated pressure. The measured values will be utilized in verifying the self-developed cold flow analysis program and as an input of commercialized CFD program package.

  • High-throughput transcriptome sequencing, also known as RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq), is a standard technology for measuring gene expression with unprecedented accuracy. Numerous bioconductor packages have been developed for the statistical analysis of RNA-Seq data. However, these tools focus on specific aspects of the data analysis pipeline, and are difficult to appropriately integrate with one another due to their disparate data structures and processing methods. They also lack visualization methods to confirm the integrity of the data and the process. In this paper, we propose an R-based RNA-Seq analysis pipeline called TRAPR, an integrated tool that facilitates the statistical analysis and visualization of RNA-Seq expression data. TRAPR provides various functions for data management, the filtering of low-quality data, normalization, transformation, statistical analysis, data visualization, and result visualization that allow researchers to build customized analysis pipelines.

  • Electronic presentations have become useful tools for surgeons, other clinicians and patients, facilitating medical and legal support and scientific research. Microsoft(R) PowerPoint is by far and away the most commonly used computer-based presentation package. Setting up surgical clinical cases with PowerPoint makes it easy to register and follow patients for the purpose of discussion of treatment plan or scientific presentations. It facilitates communication between professionals, supervising clinical cases and teaching. It is ofter useful to create a template to standardize the presentation, offered by the software through the slide master. The purpose of this paper was to show a simple and practical method for creating a Microsoft(R) PowerPoint template for use in presentations comcerning oral and maxillofacial cancer.
