Nb 및 Mo 첨가 페라이트계 스테인리스강의 등온 저주기 및 열기계적 피로에 따른 변형거동 (Cyclic Deformation Behaviors under Isothermal and Thermomechanical Fatigue Conditions in Nb and Mo Added 15Cr Ferritic Stainless Steel)

  • This paper deals with cyclic stress and strain responses during isothermal low cycle fatigue (LCF) and thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF) loadings on Nb and Mo containing 15Cr stainless steel, which is used for exhaust manifolds in automobiles. The test temperatures ($T_{i}$) of the isothermal LCF were 600 and $800^{\circ}C$. The minimum temperature of the TMF test was $100^{\circ}C$ and the maximum temperaures ($T_{p}$) were varied between 500 and $800^{\circ}C$. In both loading conditions, weak cyclic softening is observed at $T_{i}=T_{p}=800^{\circ}C$, but the transition to strong cyclic hardening is completed with the temperature decrease below $T_i=600{\sim}700^{\circ}C$ for LCF and $T_{p}=500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ for TMF. The stress-strain hysteresis loops in the TMF loading show a significant stress relaxation during compressive (heating) half cycle at $T_{p}>500^{\circ}C$, which develops tensile mean stress during cycling. Due to the stress relaxation, the TMF test sample reveals much lower dislocation density than the isothermally fatigued sample at the same temperature with $T_{p}$. A detailed correlation between fatigue microstructure and cycling deformation behavior is discussed.

대체냉매를 적용한 일반화된 모세관의 유량예측 상관식 (A Generalized Empirical Correlation on the Mass Flow Rate through Adiabatic Capillary Tubes with Alternative Refrigerants)

  • The performance of adiabatic capillary tubes are measured to provide the database for a generalized correlation. Test conditions and capillary tube geometries are selected to cover a wide range typically observed in air-conditioning and heat pump applications. Based on extensive experimental data for R22, R290, and R407C measured in this study, a generalized correlation for refrigerant flow rate in adiabatic capillary tubes is developed by implementing dimensionless parameters for tube inlet conditions, capillary tube geometry, and refrigerant properties. The correlation yields good agreement with the present data for R22, R290, and R407C with average and standard deviations of 0.9% and 5.0%, respectively. In addition, approximately 97% of the data for Rl2, R134a, R152a, R410A, and R600a obtained in the open literature are correlated within a relative deviation of $\pm$ 15%.

Simultaneous Control of Phase Transformation and Crystal of Amorphous TiO2 Coating on MWCNT Surface

  • We developed a mass production method that simultaneously controls the phase transformation and crystal size of $TiO_2$ coatings on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Initially, MWCNTs were successfully coated with amorphous 15-20-nm-thick $TiO_2$ by an in-situ sol-gel method. As the calcination temperature increased in both air and argon atmospheres, the amorphous $TiO_2$ was gradually transformed into the fully anatase phase at approximately $600^{\circ}C$, a mixture of the anatase and rutile phases at approximately $700^{\circ}C$, and the fully rutile phase above approximately $800^{\circ}C$. The crystal size increased with increasing calcination temperature. Moreover, above $600^{\circ}C$, the size of crystals formed in air was approximately twice that of crystals formed in argon. The reason is thought to be that MWCNTs, which continuously supported the stresses associated with the reconstructive phase transformation, disappeared owing to complete oxidation in air at these high temperatures.

  • In this study, the friction and wear characteristics of Inconel 600 in the superplastic forming process of Ti6Al4V were evaluated through pin-on-disc tests. To achieve an efficient and systematic experimental design, the Taguchi method was employed. The wear track of the Inconel 600 pin showed scratches in the sliding contact direction, confirming that the wear mechanism is abrasive wear. Through sensitivity analysis such as ANOVA and Main effects, it was confirmed that both normal force and sliding distance have a significant impact on the wear. Changes in sliding velocity and distance did not affect the friction coefficient, which remained relatively constant at approximately 0.380. The wear prediction model for Inconel 600 in the superplastic forming of Ti6Al4V was constructed, which can be utilized as a guideline for the prediction and management of tool wear.

  • This paper estimates the derailment factor of running train on the curved track. To estimate the derailment factor, wheel loads and lateral forces of train are measured on the track. The selected measuring points are the 400R and the 600R in the Honam line, the 300R and the 400R in the Janghang line, respectively. The derailment factors are evaluated from the wheel loads and lateral forces which are measured on the all axles of running trains.

R600a를 이용한 소형 멀티형 냉장고 시스템의 성능특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Performance Characteristics of a Multi Type Refrigerator Using R600a)

  • Various types of refrigerators become popular in the market such as a common refrigerator, kimchi refrigerator and wine cellar. It is required to develop a multi type refrigerator combining these refrigerators to save space and energy consumption. In this study, the performance of a multi type refrigerator, which consists of one machine room and three evaporators, was measured in a bench type multi refrigerator. The multi type refrigerator was tested by varying the number of refrigerator cabinet, refrigerant charge, and temperature conditions. In addition, the multi type refrigerator with a suction line heat exchanger(SLHX) was tested to improve system performance. Based on the experimental data, the multi type refrigerator showed better performance than the conventional refrigerator(single type system). Besides, the COP of the single system increased from 1.0 to 1.37, and those of the dual and triple system increased from 1.29 to 1.39, and 1.22 to 1.51, respectively, by applying the SLHX.

탄화수소 및 불화탄화수소 혼합냉매의 기상-액상 평형에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Vapor-Liquid Equilibria of HFC and HC Refrigerant Mixtures)

  • Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium(VLE) data have been obtained for the systems of propane(R290)+1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane(R134a) and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane(R134a)+isobutane(R60A) in the temperature range of 253.15 to 323.15K. Experiments were performed in a circulation type apparatus by injecting vapor through liquid pool using a magnetic pump. Both systems form azeotropes in the temperature range of this study. The experimental results were estimated with the Peng-Robinson equation of state. When the temperature-dependent binary interaction parameter was used in the Peng-Robinson equation of state, the absolute average deviation of the measured bubble point pressures from the values correlated by the Peng-Robinson equation was 0.65% and 0.78% for R290+R134a and R134a+600a, respectively. Azeotropic compositions for both systems were presented.

저온 해수를 이용한 난방 및 담수화사이클 성능 해석 (Analysis of Heating and Desalination Cycle Using Low Temperature Seawater)

  • 저온 해수에너지를 이용한 난방사이클 및 이와 연계할 수 있는 적정 담수화사이클에 대하여 제안 및 해석을 수행하였다. 난방사이클은 기본 증기압축식 사이클을 이용하여 1단 및 2단압축사이클에 대해 해석을 수행하였고, 담수화사이클은 난방사이클과 연계할 수 있도록 설계하여 해석을 수행하였다. 난방사이클의 증발기 열원으로 5이하의 저온 해수열을 이용하였고, 난방수 온도는 60 이상 공급될 수 있도록 해석하였으며, 사이클 작동유체는 R-134a, R-1234 yf, R-600a를 적용하였다. 사이클 해석 결과, 2단압축사이클을 적용할 경우 1단압축사이클에 비해 모든 냉매에서 압축기 소요동력은 약 15.6% 감소하였고, 성능계수는 약 17.6% 향상되었다. 냉동법 담수화 사이클의 경우 R-134a에 대해서 난방수 60 조건일 때, 1단압축 사이클에 비해 2단압축사이클을 적용할 경우 담수 1kg 생산당 에너지가 약 19.8% 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

참조응력을 이용한 316LN 스테인리스강의 크리프 해석 (Creep Analysis of Type 316LN Stainless Steel Using Reference Stress)

  • Creep damage using a reference stress(RS) was analyzed for type 316LN stainless steel. The generalized K-R equation was reconstructed into the RS equation using a critical stress value $\sigma$. The RS equation was derived from the critical stress in failure time $t_f$ instead of material damage parameter $\omega$, which indicates the critical condition of collapse or approach to gross instability of materials during creep. For obtaining the reference stress, a series of creep tests and tensile tests were conducted with at 55$0^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. The stress-time data obtained from creep tests were applied to the RS equations to characterize the creep damage of type 316LN stainless steel. The value of creep constant r with stress levels was about 18 at 55$0^{\circ}C$ and 21 at $600^{\circ}C$. This value was almost similar with r = 24 in the K-R equation, which was obtained by using damage parameter $\omega$. Relationship plots of creep failure strain and life fraction $(t_f /t_r)$ were also obtained with different λ values. The RS equation was therefore more convenient than the generalized K-R equation, because the measuring process to quantify the damage parameter $\omega$ such as voids or micro cracks in crept materials was omitted. The RS method can be easily used by designers and plant operator as a creep design tool.

Kinematic analysis of POSTECH Hand I with new symbolic notation

  • Recently, dexterous mechanical hands have become of interest in the field of robotics. In this paper, a new symbolic C-Y notation is proposed for the kinematic modeling, and we solve the kinematics of a simplified model of POSTECH Hand 1, which is a 5 fingered, 20 degrees of freedom anthropomorphic hand. POSTECH Hand I is designed to have distinctive kinematic structure and the kinematic analysis of the hand is carried out using C-Y notation. To prove the feasibility of C-Y notation, D-H notation is also applied to the POSTECH Hand 1. In the inverse kinematic analysis, we neglect the fingertip geometry and assume the point contact with 3 degrees of freedom constraints. The configurations which optimize manipulability index[2] was obtained based on the simulation experiments on the SUN-4 graphic workstation using SUNPhigs graphic software.
