The present study experimentally investigated the effect of refrigeration lubricant on the heat transfer performance in the straight sections and U-bend of a microfin tube evaporator by using R-22/mineral oil and R-407C/POE oil. The apparatus consisted of test section with U-bend, preheater, condenser, oil injection and sampling devices, magnetic pump, mass flow meter etc. The experimental parameters were oil concentration of 0 to 5 wt%, inlet quality of 0.1 to 0.5, mass flux of 219 and $400kg/m^2s$ and heat flux of 10 and $20kW/m^2$. The effects of parameters on the heat transfer coefficients were large in the order of inlet quality, mass flux and heat flux as oil concentration got increased. As oil concentration was increased, heat transfer coefficients were continuously decreased for R-22 and increased by 3% up to the concentration of 1% and then decreased for R-407C under the condition of large inlet quality, and small mass flux and heat flux. But, the heat transfer coefficients were increased up to the concentration of 3% and then decreased for both R-22 and R-407C refrigerants under the opposite conditions. The variation of enhancement factors for R-407C was under 50% of that for R-22 and the variation with respect to the positions in the test section was small. The pressure drops were increased for both R-22 and R-407C refrigerants as oil concentration was increased. The pressure drops for R-407C were smaller by the maximum of 18% than those for R-22.
Experiments were carried out to investigate the condensation heat transfer characteristics for R22 and its alternatives, R407C (R32/125/134a, 23/25/52wt%) and R410A (R32/125, 50/50wt%). A concentric tube heat exchanger was made to conduct condensation heat transfer tests. Mass flux and saturation temperature of refrigerants at the test section inlet were varied to get the corresponding heat transfer coefficients. Serial and parallel input of secondary fluid (water) were applied to the test subsections. Compared with existing correlations of condensation heat transfer, experimental heat transfer coefficients obtained in this study were generally higher than the predicted values, and mean absolute deviations from several correlations were shown. Wall subcooling was introduced to get a new correlation for condensation heat transfer coefficients by modifying Shah's equation. The RMS deviation of the measured heat transfer coefficients from the new correlation in this study for R22 is 9.9% and that for R407C and R410A are 10.2% and 14.6%, respectively.
This study presents test results of a residential window system air-conditioner using R22 and two potential alternative refrigerants, R407C and R410B. A series of performance tests was performed for the basic and liquid-suction heat exchange cycle in a psychrometric calorimeter test facility. For R407C, the same rotary compressor was used as in the R22 system. However, compressor for the R410B system was modified to provide the similar cooling capacity. The evaporator circuit was changed to get a counter-cross flow heat exchanger to take advantage of zeotropic mixture's temperature glide, and liquid-line suction-line heat exchange cycle was also considered to improve the performance of the system. Test results were compared to those for the basic R22 system.

Experimental results for forced convection condensation of R-22 and R-407C inside 7.5mm ID and 4000mm length of horizontal tubes are presented. The experimental data covered total flow rate from 114.3 to 267.1kg/($m^2$.s) and quality from 0 to 1. The vapor temperature and pressure drop along the tube were measured. The pressure drop for R-407C increased with flow rate similar to that of R-22. The experimental data compared with the available perdictions for pressure drop. Based on the data a prediction method was presented for the calculation of pressure drop of R-22 alternative refrigerants.

The present study experimentally investigated the effect of refrigeration oil on the condensation heat transfer for R-22 and R-407C in a microfin tube with a U-bend. Mineral oil and POE oil were used for R-22 and R-407C respectively. Experimental parameters were an oil concentration from 0 to 5%, a mass flux from 100 to 400 $kg/m^2s$ and an inlet quality from 0.5 to 0.9. The enhancement factors for both R-22 and R-407C refrigerants at the first straight section decreased continuously as the oil concentration increased. The decreased rapidly as the mass flux decreased and the inlet quality increased. The heat transfer coefficients in the U-bend showed the maximum at the 90$^{\circ}$position. the heat transfer coefficients at the second straight section within the dimensionless length of 48 were larger by a maximum of 33% than the average heat transfer coefficient at the first straight section.
Screw compressor type chillers are widely used in refrigeration for capacity over 30 RT. In general, chillers operate under part-load conditions. Therefore, information on characteristics at part-load is very important in view of chiller performance and energy economy. In this study, performance tests of part-load and economizer system using R22 and R407C have been performed for various secondary fluid temperatures. Adoption of an economizer system increased the cooling capacity and improved COP except for lower part-load condition when injection volume ratio is 1.01. For the same cooling capacity condition at part-load, COP of both non-economizer and economizer system showed similar values.
Boiling heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops for R-22 and R-407C were measured in horizontal micro-channels. The test section is stainless steel tube, inner tube diameters are 1.8mm and 2.8mm, and the respective lengths are 1500mm and 3000mm. The range of mass flux is 300-600kg/$m^2$s and heat flux is 5-15kW/$m^2$. In this results, pressure drop increased linearly for both R-22 and R-407C with increased mass flux, but the increase of heat flux did not affect the pressure. In addition, the pressure drop was fairly increased in the high quality region rather than low quality region. In the range of low quality, the mass flux had a small affect on the heat transfer coefficients, however, in high quality region, the heat transfer coefficients increased even more with increasing mass flux. Under the low quality region and low mass flux, the heat transfer coefficients increased with increasing heat flux densities. The effects of inner tube diameter were clearly observed. Namely, the measured pressure drop inside inner tube diameter 1.8 mm is higher than 2.8 mm with increasing the mass flux and heat flux. Also, the measured local heat transfer coefficient inside inner tube diameter 1.8 mm is higher than 2.8 mm in the range of high qualities. The experimental data for R-407C compared with proposed correlation using pure refrigerant. The experimental data for R-407C was more decreased than the proposed correlation for pure refrigerant up to 50% or more.
This study reports pressure drops during evaporation for R-l34a, R-407C (a mixture of 23 wt% R-32, 25 wt% R-125, and 52 wt% R-l34A) and R-410A (a mixture of 50 wt% R-32 and 50 wt% R-125) in the oblong shell and Plate heat exchanger. The effects of the mass fluxes, heat fluxes, refrigerant saturation temperatures and vapor quality of refrigerants on the measured data were explored in detail. The present data showed that pressure drops of all refrigerants increase with the vapor quality. At a higher mass flux, pressure drops are higher for the entire range of the vapor quality A rise in the heat flux doesn't show significant effects on the pressure drops. Finally, at a higher saturation temperature the pressure drops are found to be lower. The pressure drops for R-407C were approximately 20% lower than those of R-l34a. R-410A had 33% lower pressure drops than R-l34a. Correlation is also provided for the measured pressure drops in terms of the friction factor.
Condensation heat transfer experiments were conducted with the oblong shell and plate heat exchanger without oil in a refrigerant loop using R-l34a, R-407C and R-410A. An experimental refrigerant loop has been developed to measure the condensation heat transfer coefficient h$_{r}$ and frictional pressure drop $\Delta$p$_{f}$ of the various refrigerants in a vertical oblong shell and plate heat exchanger. The effects of the refrigerant mass flux(40∼80kg/$m^2$s), average heat flux(4∼8kW/$m^2$), refrigerant saturation temperature(30∼4$0^{\circ}C$) and vapor quality of refrigerants on the measured data were explored in detail. Similar to the case of a plate heat exchanger, even at a very low Reynolds number, the flow in the oblong shell and plate heat exchanger remains turbulent. A comparison of the performance of the various refrigerants revealed that R-410A had the highest heat transfer performance followed by R-l34a, and R-407C had the lowest performance of the refrigerants tested. The pressure drops were also reported in this paper. The pressure drops for R-410A were approximately 45% lower than those of R-l34a. R-407C had 30% lower pressure drops than R-l34a. Experimental results were compared with several correlations which predicted condensation heat transfer coefficients and frictional pressure drops. Comparison with the experimental data showed that the previously proposed correlations gave unsatisfactory results. Based on the present data, empirical correlations of the condensation heat transfer coefficient and the friction factor were proposed.tor were proposed.sed.
The present paper dealt with an experimental study of condensation heat transfer coefficients with refrigerant R-22, R-407C and R-410A, and was focused on pressure gradient and heat transfer coefficient in horizontal tube-in-tube heat exchangers using inner diameter of 4 mm, 3 mm and 2 mm in a 16.91 mm tube and length of 3,000 mm. Experiments were performed at inlet saturation temperature of 35 to $45^{\circ}C$ and mass flux ranges from 200 to $600 kg/m^2s$. The pressure gradient with inner tube diameter of 4.0 mm is higher 2.5 times than that of 8.0 mm. In tube-in-tube HEX, the pressure gradient of R-410A were lower than those of R-22 and R-407C. The condensation heat transfer coefficients increased with mass flux increase, but they decreased with saturation temperature increased. Condensation heat transfer coefficients of R-410A were a little higher than those of R-22 and R-407C. The condensation heat transfer coefficients of tube-in-tube HEX were about 40% higher than those of double tube HEX.
