X Control Charts under the Second Order Autoregressive Process

  • When independent individual measurements are taken both $S/c_4$ and $\bar{R}/d_2$ are unbiased estimators of the process standard deviation. However, with dependent data $\bar{R}/d_2$ is not an unbiased estimator of the process standard deviation. On the other hand $S/c_4$ is an asymptotic unbiased estimator. If there exists correlation in the data, positive(negative) correlation tends to increase(decrease) the ARL. The effect of using $\bar{R}/d_2$ is greater than $S/c_4$ if the assumption of independence is invalid. Supplementary runs rule shortens the ARL of X control charts dramatically in the presence of correlation in the data.

  • The study focused on setting priority among the future core technologies that were derived by Delphi in agricultural management & information using analytic hierarchy process(AHP). Items for setting priority were decided as ‘technology’, ‘market’, and ‘public concerns’by council. The future core technologies were divided into four parts by importance and R&D level. Technologies which consisted of upper two parts having higher importance were considered in the study. Questionnaires were given to 9 specialists in biosystems engineering. As the results, ‘market’ was decided as a most important item. The most important technologies were ‘Developing technology and system of post harvest processing for higher quality rice’ in group I, and ‘Developing sensor technology to evaluate quality and safety for agricultural products’ in group II.

구조방정식을 이용한 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과에 관한 연구: 상황이론적 접근 (The Relationship between TQM Practices and R&D Performance: A Contingency Approach)

  • 본 연구는 구조방정식을 이용하여 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과의 관계를 연구한 것이다. TQM 프랙티스의 수준을 측정하기 위하여 말콤 볼드리지 국가 품질상의 기준을 기본으로 한 측정 도구를 사용하였으며, R&D 성과는 개량지향적 성과와 혁신지향적 성과로 구분하여 측정하였다. 또한, 본 연구모형에 서는 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과의 관계가 상황변수에 따라서 달라질 수 있다고 보고 업무의 불확실성, 시장 변동성, 경쟁의 정도를 상황변수로 채택하고 이들을 고려한 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과에 관한 가설을 설정하였다. 우리나라의 133개 제조업체로부터 우편 설문조사로 얻은 자료를 사용하여 가설 검정을 수행한 결과, TQM 프랙티스는 R&D 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 그 영향의 패턴은 상황 변수에 따라서 다르게 나타나는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 제조업체 기반의 R&D 환경에서 TQM 프랙티스가 어떠한 역할을 할 수 있는지 보여주기 때문에 R&D 관리에 많은 시사점을 던져준다.

  • 최근 연구개발투자의 확대와 더불어 첨단 분야 연구 활동이 활발해지고, 국가균형발전 및 지역혁신에 대한 관심이 증폭되면서 연구시설 장비 인프라가 크게 확대되고 있는 상황에 있으나 연구시설 장비의 중요성에 비하여 전략적 투자와 효율적인 운영체제 및 공동 활용을 위한 노력은 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구는 국가 연구개발 사업 중 주요 부처에서 지원하고 있는 대표적 연구시설 장비 구축 사업들의 향후 개선 방향에 대한 정책적 제언을 제공하기 위하여 대외 공동 활용 서비스에 있어서 사업의 대외 사용자들이 인식하는 중요한 서비스 품질의 요인들과 각 요인들에서 느끼고 있는 만족도를 파악하고 이를 바탕으로 하여 중요도-만족도 분석을 수행하여 각 사업별 집중 개선 대상이 되는 서비스 품질 요인을 파악하였다. 그리고 서비스 제공자들에 대한 심층인터뷰를 수행하여 설문 조사 결과의 확인과 원인 도출 및 개선방향 설정 등을 포함하는 분석활동을 수행한끝에 정부차원의 시설 장비 운영 자원제도의 수립에 있어서 함께 고려되어야 할 사항들을 파악하였다. 그 결과 대학의 경우 공동 활용 목적 보다는 자체 연구목적의 다양한 적용분야에 대한 시설 장비 지원 사업을 추진하는 것이 보다 적합하고, 독립법인의 경우에는 공동 활용 목적의 일반/범용수준의 장비들을 지원하는 사업을 추진하는 것이 효과적이며, 정부출연연구소의 경우에는 선도/개척 수준에 해당하는 고가 및 희귀한 장비들을 필요로 하는 자체연구 및 공동활용목적의 사업을 추진하는 것이 보다 적합하다는 사업 추진주체의 효과적 역할분담에 대한 정책적 제언을 제시하였다.

의료기기에 대한 임상모니터링 기반의 지속적 품질개선: 치과용 임플란트의 사례 (Continuous Quality Improvement of Medical Equipments Based on Clinical Monitoring: A Case Study of Dental Implants)

  • Dental implant has recently become one of the most viable treatment options for regaining the oral function and dental aesthetics compared with conventional fixed or removable dentures. Dental implants vary in material, dimensions, geometries, surface properties, and interface geometries. It has been reported that there has been a proliferation of manufacturers who produce implants using various materials and surface treatments, and the dentist needs to select from over 2,000 different dental implants and abutments in a specific treatment situation. Unfortunately, however, no metrics have been specifically identified for the purpose of quality assessment and selection of an appropriate dental implant. This study aims to provide practical guidelines for quality assessment of dental implant based on clinical data. Like other medical devices and materials, the superiority related to specific characteristics of the dental implant needs to be verified through extensive clinical studies. The procedures of clinical monitoring for dental implants have been proposed along with a case study to exemplify the usefulness of clinical monitoring for the purpose of continuous quality improvement in medical industry.

국가 산.학.연 협력 연구개발을 위한 과제목표관리 정보시스템의 설계 및 효과 분석 (The Design & Effect Analysis of Project Objective Management Information System for National R&D cooperated by Industries, Universities and Government-supported research institutes)

  • We studied how to achieve successful implementation of massive research and development projects requiring collaboration among industries, universities and government-supported research institute. We have set up an engineering process innovation model to be deemed most adequately for all practical purposes, relying on the theoretical studies on the merits and analysis of the effect of the information system based on Milestone Management, Work Breakdown Structures and Web, which is known to be effective for research project (schedule) management and the objective management, and implemented a real-world web-based project objective management system. After a review of various R & D Project Schedule Management methods, we found that this information system was very compatible with project objective management. This project objective management information system carries out research and development projects effectively and efficiently, getting together in cyber-space and sharing information, and has been equipped with an Early Warning Subsystem to allow for pre-analysis and timely response to potential problems arising from the course of the project. The system also contains an Executive Information System that in real time, automatically provides the management information required by managers with the rate of project progress (achievement, fulfillment and delay). Lastly, actual progress can be cross-checked through both on-line objective management on the web-based information system and design review meeting held on site, to improve the efficiency and validity of the information system. Moreover, overall effect was analyzed through questionnaires on how well the system and generated information meet requirements and on the ultimate impact of the system upon objective management and communication. The questionnaire on the system effect revealed that the information system was useful to objective management and communication, and that the quality of the system was more than acceptable as well.

Six Sigma: A Fascinating Business Strategy and Its Contributions for Quality Innovation

  • Six Sigma was introduced into Korea in 1997, and it is regarded as a fascinating management strategy in many Korean companies. First of all, the reasons why Six Sigma is fascinating are given and a smart way to introduce Six Sigma is illustrated. Seven step procedures to introduce Six Sigma are explained. Next, the differences of problem-solving processes for project team activities for R&D, manufacturing, and service areas are compared. Third, a typical process for R&D Six Sigma is proposed, and major activities and scientific methods at each process step are suggested. Fourth, some differences between Six Sigma project team and quality circle team are presented. Finally, a Six Sigma model for e-business is proposed and briefly explained.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to develop the methods for evaluating the business value of a company's technical portfolios. In this study, technical portfolios of 10 major manufacturers and e-Biz industries are examined first from a business model perspective. Subsequently, we suggest future direction of R&D for the pharmaceutical industry by deducing the leading industries sharing similar traits with the pharmaceutical industry. Methods: In order to evaluate and analyze the patents of the major leading industries based on the constituents of a business model, the target patents were selected through the following procedure. Results: First, In this study, using the data obtained from the patent analysis, the differences in the technology portfolios of specific business entities based on the constituents of their business models. Second, deduced business rules of particular business entities through classification analysis and role-model of pharmaceutical industry Conclusion: If enterprise discovers technological change and characters of other enterprise or technology, enterprise could judge a direction of technology which will be developed in the near term and a plan which utilized existing technology to increase enterprise's profits.

연구 분야 및 지원기관에 따른 연구비 영향 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of Factors Influencing the Costs of Funding as a Function of Research Area and Financial Institutions)

  • Purpose: In this paper, we analyzed the factors that affect research grants using linear regression analysis in order to increase the effectiveness of investments in national research projects. Methods: We collected 15,454 pieces of data on research projects that finished between 2008 and 2010. Data preprocessing and visualization were done to derive statistically significant results. We identified factors that affected funding by using linear regression, and estimated increasing or decreasing tendencies based on those factors. Results: We identified the relative importance of the factors in awarding research grants. Strategies were suggested for the reasonable estimation of R&D budgets for investment purposes. Conclusion: This study will assist the decision-making process of governments in estimating funds required for R&D projects.
