The most rapid Real-time PCR based detection method for Avian influenza A virus (AIV) subtype H5N1 was developed. The target DNA sequence in this study was deduced from H5N1 subtype-specific 387 bp partial gene of hemagglutinin, and was synthesized by using PCR-based gene synthesis on the ground of safety. Real-Time PCR was performed by $GenSpector^{TM}$ using microchip-based, total $1{\mu}l$ of reaction mixture with extremely short time in each steps in PCR. The detection including PCR-amplication and analysis of melting temperature was totally completed within 13 min. The H5N1-specific 189 bp PCR product was correctly amplified until 2.4 molecules of hemagglutinin gene as minimum of templates. This kind of PCR was designated as Quick Real-Time PCR in this study and it could be applied to detect not only AIV H5N1, but also other pathogens using PCR-based detection.

This paper proposes a face detection method using Free Rectangle feature which possesses a quick execution time and a high efficiency. The proposed mask of Free Rectangle feature is composed of two separable rectangles with the same area. In order to increase the feature diversity, Haar-like feature generally uses a complex mask composed of two or more rectangles. But the proposed feature mask can get a lot of very efficient features according to any position and scale of two rectangles on the feature window. Moreover, the Free Rectangle feature can largely reduce the execution time since it is defined as the only difference of the sum of pixels of two rectangles irrespective of the mask type. Since it yields a quick detection speed and good detection rates on real world images, the proposed face detection method based on Adaboost algorithm is easily applied to detect another object by changing the training dataset.

Huanglongbing (HLB) is one of the most destructive diseases in citrus, which imperils the sustainability of citriculture worldwide. The presumed causal agent of HLB, 'Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus' (CLas) is a non-culturable phloem-limited α-proteobacterium transmitted by Asian citrus psyllids (ACP, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama). A widely adopted method for HLB diagnosis is based on quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Although HLB diagnostic qPCR provides high sensitivity and good reproducibility, it is limited by time-consuming DNA preparation from plant tissue or ACP and the requirement of proper lab instruments including a thermal cycler to conduct qPCR. In an attempt to develop a quick assay that can be deployed in the field for CLas detection, we developed a real-time loop-mediated isothermal amplification (rt-LAMP) assay by targeting the CLas five copy nrdB gene. The rt-LAMP assay using various plant sample types and psyllids successfully detected the nrdB target as low as ~2.6 Log10 copies. Although the rt-LAMP assay was less sensitive than laboratory-based qPCR (detection limit ~10 copies), the data obtained with citrus leaf and bark and ACP showed that the rt-LAMP assay has >96% CLas detection rate, compared to that of laboratory-based qPCR. However, the CLas detection rate in fibrous roots was significantly decreased compared to qPCR due to low CLas titer in some root DNA sample. We also demonstrated that the rt-LAMP assay can be used with a crude leaf DNA extract which is fully deployable in the field for quick and reliable HLB screening.
Game bots are illegal programs that facilitate account growth and goods acquisition through continuous and automatic play. Early detection is required to minimize the damage caused by evolving game bots. In this study, we propose a game bot detection method based on action time intervals (ATIs). We observe the actions of the bots in a game and identify the most frequently occurring actions. We extract the frequency, ATI average, and ATI standard deviation for each identified action, which is to used as machine learning features. Furthermore, we measure the performance using actual logs of the Aion game to verify the validity of the proposed method. The accuracy and precision of the proposed method are 97% and 100%, respectively. Results show that the game bots can be detected early because the proposed method performs well using only data from a single day, which shows similar performance with those proposed in a previous study using the same dataset. The detection performance of the model is maintained even after 2 months of training without any revision process.
Fall detection and prevention technologies play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of individuals, particularly those living independently, where falls can result in severe consequences. This paper addresses the challenge of accurate and quick fall detection by proposing a Bayesian probability-based measure applied to surface electromyography (sEMG) signals. The proposed algorithm based on a Bayesian filter that divides the sEMG signal into transient and steady states. The ratio of posterior probabilities, considering the inclusion or exclusion of the transient state, serves as a scale to gauge the dominance of the transient state in the current signal. Experimental results demonstrate that this approach enhances the accuracy and expedites the detection time compared to existing methods. The study suggests broader applications beyond fall detection, anticipating future research in diverse human-robot interface benefiting from the proposed methodology.

Recently web is used for more things than ever before in education. Previous web-based programming education systems help students to check compile errors and runtime errors after submitting programming assignments anytime and anywhere. However, these previous systems cannot quickly provide the detailed assessment results on the generated answer, the coding style, and the plagiarism detection. In this paper, we propose a web-based programming education system to provide the quick results of the detailed assessment as soon as to submit programming assignments. In this system, the plagiarism detection method compares a current file with only the already uploaded files so it can provide quick feedback. The proposed web-based programming education system is applied to a real C programming language class with approximately 40 students. The proposed system tends to improve the students' participation by quick feedback.

Detecting the damage of indeterminate trusses is of major importance in the literature. This paper proposes a quick approach in this regard, utilizing a precise mathematical approach based on Finite Element Method. Different to a general two-step method defined in the literature essentially based on optimization approach, this method consists of three steps including Damage-Suspected Element Identification step, Imminent Damaged Element Identification step, and finally, Damage Severity Detection step and does not need any optimizing algorithm. The first step focuses on the identification of damage-suspected elements using an index based on modal residual force vector. In the second step, imminent damage elements are identified among the damage-suspected elements detected in the previous step using a specific technique. Ultimately, in the third step, a novel relation is derived to calculate the damage severity of each imminent damaged element. To show the efficiency and quick function of the proposed method, three examples including a 25-bar planar truss, a 31-bar planar truss, and a 52-bar space truss are studied; results of which indicate that the method is innovatively capable of suitably detecting, for indeterminate trusses, not only damaged elements but also their individual damage severity by carrying out solely one analysis.
Early detection of a disease is important to tackle treatment issues in a better manner. Several diagnostic techniques are in use, these days; for such purpose and tremendous research is going on to develop newer and newer methods. However, more work is required to be done to develop cheap and reliable early detection techniques. Micro-fluidic chips are also playing key role to deliver new devices for better health care. The present study focuses on a review of recent developments in the interrogation of different techniques and present state-of-the-art of microfluidic sensor for better, quick, easy, rapid, early, inexpensive and portable POCT (Point of Care testing device) device for a particular study, in this case, bone disease called osteoporosis. Some simulations of the microchip are also made to enable feasibility of the development of a blood-chip-based system. The proposed device will assist in early detection of diseases in an effective and successful manner.
In this paper, we introduce a new method of detecting faults for a power converter unit in Control Rod Control System. The faults of a power converter unit can exert harmful influence upon the operation of Control Rod Drive Mechanisms and the control of the reactor output. This situation makes the quick and correct detection of failures in a power converter unit very important. We devise a new method of fault detection for the digital power controller and improve the drawbacks of the existing fault detector.
In a previous study, we obtained polyclonal antibodies against the organophosphorus insecticide fenitrothion and developed an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for this pesticide. Using these antibodies and an enzyme tracer, a direct competitive ELISA method specific for fenitrothion using a dipstick format was developed. Dipstick ELISA using antibodies to fenitrothion immobilized on an Immunodyne membrane allowed the quick visual detection of fenitrothion at concentrations above $10\;{\mu}g/L$. The $IC_{50}$ value of dipstick ELISA using reflectance detection was $27\;{\mu}g/L$ with a detection limit of $2\;{\mu}g/L$. The recovery of fenitrothion from spiked lettuce and rice samples using the dipstick ELISA ranged from 87-107%.
