  • This paper presents an assignment method of the multidimensional type inheritance indexes (MD-TIXs) to support the processing of XML queries in XML databases. MD-TIX uses a multidimensional index structure for efficiently supporting nested predicates that involve both nested element and type inheritance hierarchies. In this paper, we have analyzed the strategy of the query processing by using the MD-TIXs, and presented an assignment method of the MD-TIXs in the framework of complex queries, containing conjunctions of nested predicates, each one involving an Xpath having target types or domain types substitution. We first consider MD-TIX operations caused by updating of XML data-bases, and the use of the MD-TIXs in the case of a query containing a single nested predicate. And then, we consider the assignments of the MD-TIXs in the framework of more general queries containing nested predicates over overlapping paths that have common subpaths.

  • Recently there has been some efforts to add XML full-text retrievals and XML updates into new standardization of XML queries. XML full-text retrievals plays an important role in XML query languages. of like tables in relational model an XML document has complex and unstructured natures. We believe that when we try to get some information from unstructured XML documents a full-text retrieval query is much more convenient approach than a regular structured query XML update is another core function that an XML query have to have. In this paper we propose an inverted index to support XML updates and XML full-text queries in relational environment. Performance comparisons exhibit that our approach maintains a comparable size of inverted indexes and it supports many full-text retrieval functions very well. It also shows very stable retrieval performance especially for large size of XML documents. Foremost our approach handles XML updates efficiently by removing cascading effects.

  • The performance of database applications with large sets of multidimensional data depends on the performance of its access methods and the underlying disk system. In modeling the disk system, even though modem disks are manufactured with multiple physical zones, conventional access methods have been developed based on a traditional disk model with many simplifying assumptions. Thus, there is a marked lack of investigation on how to enhance the performance of access methods given a zoned disk model. The paper proposes novel zoning techniques that can be applied to any multidimensional access methods, both static and dynamic, enhancing the effective data transfer rate of underlying disk system by fully utilizing its zone characteristics. Our zoning techniques include data placement algorithms for multidimensional index structures and accompanying localized query processing algorithms for range queries. The experimental results show that our zoning techniques significantly improve the query performance.

  • In this paper, we have discussed the search function that can be embedded and used on Android-based applications. We used BM25 to suppress insignificant and too frequent words such as postpositions, Pivoted Length Normalization technique used to resolve the search priority problem related to each item's length, and Rocchio's method to pull items inferred to be related to the query closer to the query vector on Vector Space Model to support implicit feedback function. The index operation is divided into two methods; simple index to support offline operation and complex index for online operation. The implementation uses query inference function to guess user's future input by collating given present input with indexed data and with it the function is able to handle and correct user's error. Thus the implementation could be easily adopted into smartphone applications to improve their search functions.

As guide keyword similarity relation matrices which is constructed to co-occurrence frequency base same time keeps recall rater by query expansion by tolerance relation, it is index structure to improve the precision rate by two-level contents base retrieval. Therefore, draw area knowledge through subject analysis and reasoned user's information request and area knowledge to fuzzy logic base. This research is research to improve vocabulary mismatch problem and information expression having essentially on query.

  • As XML is gaining unqualified success in being adopted as a universal data representation and exchange format, particularly in the World Wide Web, the problem of querying XML documents poses interesting challenges to database researcher. Several structural XML query processing methods, including XISS and XR-tree, for past years, have been proposed for fast query processing. However, structural XML query processing has the problem of requiring expensive Join cost for twig path query Recently, sequence matching based XML query processing methods, including ViST and PRIX, have been proposed to solve the problem of structural XML query processing methods. Through sequence matching based XML query processing methods match structured queries against structured data as a whole without breaking down the queries into sub queries of paths or nodes and relying on join operations to combine their results. However, determining the structural relationship of ViST is incorrect because its numbering scheme is not optimized. And PRIX requires many processing time for matching LPS and NPS about XML data trees and queries. Therefore, in this paper, we propose efficient sequence matching method u sing the bottom-up query processing for efficient XML query processing. Also, to verify the superiority of our index structure, we compare our sequence matching method with ViST and PRIX in terms of query processing with linear path or twig path including wild-card('*' and '//').

  • We present new methods for an efficient retrieval of SGML documents. We define IDDL (index database description language) which is able to describe various information such as meta data, an indexing range, and the creation and manipulation of a database. In addition, we design IDQL (index database query language) that can deal with querying meta data as well as logical structure. Especially, the retrieval system based on IDDL and IDQL has been developed and implemented, and has been experimented on large number of documents. Experimental result shows that the proposed method provides the dynamic creation of an index database and a convenient retrieval environment.

  • In this study, we propose an efficient method for monitoring continuous top-k queries. In contrast to the conventional top-k queries, the presented top-k query considers both spatial and non-spatial attributes. We proposed a novel main-memory based grid access method, called Bit-Vector Grid Index (BVGI). The proposed method quickly identifies whether the moving objects are included in some of the grid cell by encoding a non-spatial attribute value of the moving object to bit-vector. Experimental simulations demonstrate that the proposed method is several times faster than the previous method and uses considerably less memory.

  • Location-Based services that collect location information for moving object and utilize in real life are being used in many aspects by the development of wireless network technology. Accordingly, new index structures are required to efficiently retrieve the consecutive location of moving objects. This paper addresses algorithms that make index structure by using Douglas-Peucker Algorithm and process range query efficiently on moving objects trajectories. Our algorithms are going to make smaller size of index structure and process more efficiently.

  • Since RDF (Resource Description Framework) triples are modeled as graph, we cannot directly adopt existing solutions in relational databases and XML technology. In order to store, index, and query Linked Data more efficiently, we propose a convergence indexing method combined R*-tree and K-dimensional trees. This method uses a hybrid storage system based on HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and SSD (Solid State Drive) devices, and a separated filter and refinement index structure to filter unnecessary data and further refine the immediate result. We perform performance comparisons based on three standard join retrieval algorithms. The experimental results demonstrate that our method has achieved remarkable performance compared to other existing methods such as Quad and Darq.
