  • By forming lens-like shapes on the electrode surfaces in OLEDs, the external quantum efficiency is enhanced. The external quantum efficiency of the proposed structure can be much more increased compared to that of the flat structure by decreasing the length of major axis and increasing the length of minor axis for the lens-like shapes.

  • This paper proposes a method to find out the type and location information of Pauli X, Y, Z errors generated in quantum channels using only the quantum information processing part of the multiple-rate quantum turbo short-block code without external help from the classical information processing part. In order to obtain the location information of the Pauli X,Y error, n-auxiliary qubits and n-CNOT gates were inserted into the C[n,k,2] QSBC-QURC encoder. As a result, the maximum coding rate is limited to about 1/2 as the trade-off characteristics. The location information of the Pauli Z error for C[n,k,2] QSBC-QURC was obtained through the Clifford-based stabilizer measurement. The proposed method inherits all other characteristics of C[n,k,2] QSBC-QURC except for the coding rate.

  • In this paper, we would like to introduce the basic concepts of quantum key distribution techniques so far and the problems that need to be technically advanced. Quantum key distribution technology is a technology that generates non-tapable encryption keys and distributes them to both sender and receiver using the characteristics of Quantum, which is the minimum unit of physical quantity that can no longer be split. We would like to introduce BB84 protocol, a representative protocol of this technology, to explore realistic difficulties and future challenges.

  • We demonstrate a fashion of quantum channel combining and splitting, called polar quantum channel coding, to generate a quantum bit (qubit) sequence that achieves the symmetric capacity for any given binary input discrete quantum channels. The present capacity is achievable subject to input of arbitrary qubits with equal probability. The polarizing quantum channels can be well-conditioned for quantum error-correction coding, which transmits partially quantum data through some channels at rate one with the symmetric capacity near one but at rate zero through others.

  • A new simulator which predicts the quantum effect in NMOSFET structure is developed. Using the self-consistent method by numerical method, this simulator accurately predicts the carrier distribution due to improved calculation precision of potential in the inversion layer. However, previous simulator uses analytical potential distribution or analytic function based fitting parameter Using the developed simulator, threshold voltage increment and gate capacitance reduction due to the quantum effect are analyzed in NMOS. Especially, as oxide thickness and channel doping dependence of quantum effect is analyzed, and the property analysis for the next generation device is carried out.

  • In this paper, the output characteristics of GaN-based LED considering quantum well structure are analyzed. The basic structure of the LED consists of active region of GaN barrier and InGaN quantum well between AlGaN EBL(Electron Blocking Layer) and AlGaN HBL(Hole Blocking Layer) on GaN buffer layer. The output power, internal quantum efficiency characteristics of LED active region considering thickness of quantum well, number of quantum well and doping of barrier are analyzed using ISE-TCAD.

  • Quantum technology is undergoing a revolution. Theoretically, strange phenomena of quantum mechanics, such as superposition and entanglement, can enable high-performance computing, unconditionally secure communication, and high-precision sensing. Such theoretical possibilities have been examined in the last few decades. The goal now is to apply these quantum advantages to daily life. Europe, where quantum mechanics was born a 100 years ago, is struggling to be placed at the front of this quantum revolution. Thus, the European Commission has decided to invest 1 billion EUR over 10 years and has initiated the ramp-up phase with 20 projects in the fields of communication, simulation, sensing and metrology, computing, and fundamental science. This program, approved by the European Commission, is called the "Quantum Technology Flagship" program. Its first objective is to consolidate and expand European scientific leadership and excellence in quantum research. Its second objective is to kick-start a competitive European industry in quantum technology and develop future global industrial leaders. Its final objective is to make Europe a dynamic and attractive region for innovative and collaborative research and business in quantum technology. This program also trains next-generation quantum engineers to achieve a world-leading position in quantum technology. However, the most important principle of this program is to realize quantum technology and introduce it to the market. To this end, the program emphasizes that academic institutes and industries in Europe have to collaborate to research and develop quantum technology. They believe that without commercialization, no technology can be developed to its full potential. In this study, we review the strategy of the Quantum Europe Flagship program and the 20 projects of the ramp-up phase.

  • Quantum cryptography is one of the most feasible fields using quantum mechanics. Therefore, quantum cryptography has consistently been researched, and a variety of cryptographic exchange method has been developed, such as BB84, etc. This paper explains a basic concept of quantum communications and quantum key distribution systems using quantum mechanics. Also, it introduces a reason of the development of quantum cryptography and attack scenarios which threaten the security of QKD. Finally, the experiment of this paper simulates quantum key attack by estimating qubit phases through a modeled quantum channel, and discusses needs of post-processing methods for overcoming eavesdropping.
