The Effects of a Tailored Health Promotion Program on Self Efficacy, Health Problems and Quality of Life of Rural Residents (맞춤형 건강증진프로그램이 농촌 주민의 자기효능감, 건강문제 및 삶의 질에 미치는 효과분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identity the effects of a tailored health promotion program on rural residents' self efficacy, health problems and quality of life. Method: Data were collected from May 13th, 2006 to July 29th, 2006. The subjects were selected at Gajo-myeon, Geochang-gun, Gyeonsangbuk-do, Korea. Forty three residents were included in the experimental group and 39 in the control group. The 12-week health promotion program was given to the experimental group. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, $\chi^2$-test, t-test and ANCOVA test with the SPSS/win 12.0 program. Result: The experimental group showed higher scores of self efficacy and quality of life than the control group, and a tower score of health problem than the control group. Conclusion: From the above results, it can be concluded that the tailored health promotion program for rural residents is an effective intervention for improving their self efficacy and quality of life and reducing their health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to spread the tailored health promotion program for residents in other rural areas in Korea.

A Study on the Quality Improvement of College Scholastic Ability Test Scoring System (대학수학능력시험 점수산정시스템의 품질 제고를 위한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the score data released by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation to find out the problems with the current scoring system provided by the College Scholastic Ability Test and to suggest improvement measures to solve these problems. Methods: We calculated the descriptive statistics of the standard scores using the frequency distribution table of the standard scores and identified the characteristics of the standard scores by expressing the distribution as a graph. Also, we developed an index to evaluate whether each stanine level was stably assigned and calculated the indexes for each area/subject by using the data on the number of examinees for each level. Results: We found that the relationship of conversion from raw scores to integerized standard scores is different depending on the size of the standard deviation of the raw scores, and identified the problem that the raw score information is not fairly reflected in the calculation of the percentile and level as the two raw scores are converted to one standard score. This problem can be solved by calculating the standard score to a decimal point. Conclusion: In this study, as a way to improve the quality of the scores of the current CSAT, the standard score and percentile decimal notation, the specific regulations of the standard score and stanine level calculation method, and the expansion of the open range of the scores were suggested.

  • Machines are physically or chemically degenerated by continuous usage. One of the results of this degeneration is the process mean shift. Under the process mean shift, production cost, failure cost and quality loss function cost are increasing continuously. Therefore a periodic preventive resetting the process is necessary. We suppose that the wear level is observable. In this case, process mean shift problem has similar characteristics to the maintenance policy model. In the previous studies, process mean shift problem has been studied in several fields such as 'Tool wear limit', 'Canning Process' and 'Quality Loss Function' separately or partially integrated form. This paper proposes an integrated cost model which involves production cost by the material, failure cost by the nonconforming items, quality loss function cost by the deviation between the quality characteristics from the target value and resetting the process cost. We expand this process mean shift problem a little more by dealing the process variance as a function, not a constant value. We suggested a multiplier function model to the process variance according to the analysis result with practical data. We adopted two-side specification to our model. The initial process mean is generally set somewhat above the lower specification. The objective function is total integrated costs per unit wear and independent variables are wear limit and initial setting process mean. The optimum is derived from numerical analysis because the integral form of the objective function is not possible. A numerical example is presented.

A Quantative Evaluation Method of the Quality of Natural Language Sentences based on Genetic Algorithm (유전자 알고리즘에 기반한 자연언어 문장의 정량적 질 평가 방법)

  • 본 논문에서는 자연언어 문장의 객관적 정량적인 질 측정 방법의 구축에 대해 설명하고, 이를 문장 퇴고 시스템의 사례에 적용해 본다. 문장의 질을 평가한다는 것은 본질적으로 주관적이고 정량화가 어려운 작업이기 때문에, 이 과정에서 질의 객관적 계량화가 가능한지 여부가 가장 중요한 문제가 된다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 진화적 접근 방법을 통해 객관적이고 정량적인 질의 측정 공식을 유도하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 이 논문에서 제시한 방법론의 핵심은 간단히 말해서 사람이 행하는 정성적인 판단을, 이에 가장 근접하는 정량적 측정 체계로 전환시키는 것이라고 보면 된다. 이것을 위해 정량화 문제를 문장의 단순 언어 특징들의 변화값을 이용한 최적화 문제로 환원시키고, 다시 이 최적화 문제를 유전자 알고리즘을 이용해 해결함으로써 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있었다. 실험 결과를 보면, 본 논문에서 제시한 최적화 방법은 주어진 훈련용 예제와 검증용 예제 중 각각 99.84%, 99.88%를 만족시키는 해를 찾아내었으므로 정량적 질 평가 공식의 유도에 매우 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 도출된 측정 공식을 이용해서 실제 퇴고 시스템 평가에 적용한 결과 문장 질의 측정에 매우 유용하게 이용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같이 질의 정량적 평가가 가능하다는 사실이 갖는 또 한가지 중요한 의미는 최종 사용자의 구매 의사나 개발자의 공학적 의사 결정을 위한 객관적 성능 평가 자료의 제공에 이 방법이 유용하게 사용될 수 있다는 점이다.Abstract This paper describes a method of building a quantitative measure of the quality of natural language sentences, particularly produced by document revision systems. Evaluating the quality of natural language sentences is intrinsically subjective, so what is most important as to the evaluation is whether the quality can be measured objectively. To solve such problem of objective measurability, genetic algorithm, an evolutionary learning method, is employed in this paper. The underlying standpoint of this approach is that building the quality measures is a task of constructing a formulae that produces as close results as can to the qualitative decisions made by humans. For doing this, the problem of measurability has been simply reduced to an optimization problem using the change of the values of simple linguistic parameters found in sentences, and the reduced problem has been solved effectively by the genetic algorithm. Experimental result shows that the optimization task satisfied 99.84% and 99.88% of the given objectives for training and validation samples, respectively, which means the method is quite effective in constructing the quantitative measure of the quality of natural language sentences. The actual evaluation result of a revision system shows that the measure is useful to quantize the quality of sentences. Another important contribution of this measure would be to provide an objective performance evaluation data of natural language systems on a basis of which end-users and developers can make their decision to fit their own needs.

A Study on Estimation of Ventilation Performance in the Underground Parking Lot (지하 주차장의 환기성능평가에 관한 연구)

  • In past, parking lot was placed on the ground and for the reason air quality was not in problem. But recently parking lot has been placed under the ground and the air quality becomes problem. So in this study, the ventilation performance on the underground parking lot was estimated by using CFD software and alternative system was suggested. Three case studies are handled in this study. 1st case is just an underground parking lot. 2nd case is about an underground parking lot where has 4 fan rooms on each floor and 3rd case is about an underground parking lot where has 4 fan rooms and 30 guidance fans on each floor.

Parameter Optimization of QUAL2K Using Influence Coefficient Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm (영향계수법과 유전알고리즘을 이용한 QUAL2K 모형의 매개변수 최적화)

  • In general, manual calibration is commonly used for the stream water quality modelling. Because the manual calibration depends upon the subjectivity and experience of the researcher, it has a problem with the objectivity of the modelling. Thus, the interest about the automatic calibration by the optimization technique is deeply increased. In this study, Influence coefficient algorithm and Genetic algorithm are introduced to develop an automatic calibration model for the QUAL2K that are the latest version of the QUAL2E. Genetic algorithm, used in this study, is very simple and easy to understand but also applicable to any complicated mathematical problem, and it can find out the global optimum solution effectively. The developed automatic calibration model is applied to the Gangneung Namdaecheon. The calibration results about the 11 water quality variables show the good correspondence between the calculated and observed water quality values.

  • This paper describes the distribution power system econimical PQMS(Power quality monitoring system) of Utility. Recently, the korea power quality standard has been established based on the IEC Std. By IEC Std., the power quality assessment point is measured in PCC(Point of common coupling). In this case, the utility has to construct PQM system in all customer PCC point and the PQ meter cost would be very high in order to acquire the suitable data. Also the distribution system would be encounter the communication overload problem due to the huge data. Accordingly the utilities could not apply to PQM system in the distribution power system by the cost and communication problem. In this paper, the proposed economical PQMS has the voltage and current signal reiteration function and FFT operation function is transferred the server. Also the voltage and current measurement channels are minimized by a classified substation construction.

  • The analysis of air quality model applied for EIA in Korea indicates that ISCST3 and CALINE3 dominate the model, and it causes the problem that regional and business characteristics are not taken into account. To solve this problem, it appears necessary to build guideline of the air quality model operation. First of all, to implement the above plan we need to categorize the site into simple and complex terrain, coast to consider regional characteristics, and the sources of pollutants into point/area/line as well. To make the procedure more efficient with reduced time and less cost, we are to apply screening model for prelimninary work of the suggested model.

An Empirical Study on Performance of Six Sigma Tools in Korean Service Industry (한국 서비스산업의 6시그마 기법 시행과 그 성과에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • Six sigma has been the most influential management innovation program since 1996 in Korea. As a result of successful implementation of 6 sigma, there have been a number of dramatic quality improvement cases. However, no empirical study of 6 sigma implementation study has done especially in the service industry of Korea. This article reviews status of finance companies which implemented 6 sigma programs in Korea and then demonstrates the relationship between 6 sigma problem solving tools such as analysis of variance and graph techniques, etc and project success and operational performance. Customer survey tools, process analysis, and documentation tool are identified as influential tools on project success. Tools of measure steps, customer survey tools, and documentation tool are found as influential tools on operational performance.

  • Chemical industry has contributed significantly to the enhancement of quality of human life, but it has been regarded as a major area of environmental problem due to the potential hazards in environment and safety. This paper examines environmental management programs of chemical industry such as RC(Responsible Care) and PRTR(Pollutant Release and Transfer Register). Through the survey of Dow Chernical's environmental management system, it is examined in detail how a leading company in chemical industry has coped with environmental problem companywide.
