  • In this paper we propose smooth nonparametric estimator of Mean Residual Life(MRL) based on a complete sample. This estimator is constructed using estimator of cumulative failure rate which is derived as the maximum likelihood estimate of cumulative failure rate in the class of distributions which have piecewise linear failure rate functions between each pair of observations. We derive the asymptotic properties of the our estimator. The proposed estimator is compared with previously known estimator by Monte Carlo study.

  • We introduce a method of estimating an unknown failure rate function based on sample data. We estimate failure rate function by a function s from a space of cubic splines constrained to be linear (or constant) in tails using maximum likelihood estimation. The number of knots are determined by Bayesian Information Criterion(BIC). Examples using simulated data are used to illustrate the performance of this method.

  • This study was performed to obtain the internal failure cost in the failure and rework using cost table. The manufacturing cost is different according to each production process. Thierefore, it is difficult to calculate of the manufacturing cost. Using the cost table internal failure cost can be calculated easily in each process.

  • The problem of trend change in the failure rate is great interest in the reliability and survival analysis. In this paper we develop a test statistic for testing whether or not the failure rate changes its trend based on a complete sample. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to investigate the speed of convergence of the proposed test statistic.

  • As business looks towards the $21^{\st}$ century, a long-term strategy that focuses on global sourcing will be the vital factor in whether companies win or lose. At the same time, with electronic components, it is important to ensure stable quality and reliability, together with other important parameters. In order to achieve this, creating an effective mechanism of failure analysis and database management for electronic components is essential.   • Purpose: Recently, the managing customer complaints properly has emerged as key source of competitive advantage in the large distribution industry. Effective customer complaint management helps firms minimize service failures and incense the capability to respond to customer's needs. Despite this importance, the in-depth prior study of a firm's service failures is very limited. Therefore, the actual service failure cases of large discount stores in Korea were analyzed in this study, and the types of service failures that occur at the service interface were identified. Method: Specifically, a total of 48,307 cases of customer complaints that have occurred in the past three years were collected from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018. Using 7 dimensions of service marketing mix. we have classified and analyzed systematically the service failure cases collected. Results: Among the cases of service failures, 34,921 (72.3%) cases were involved with the product factor, followed by 6,152 (12.7%) cases with person factor and 5,392 (11.2%) cases with process factor. Conclusion: By linking the main causes of service failure with the service marketing mix variables, this research presented a more systematic analytic model and verified by applying it to large domestic distribution company. Understanding the main factors affecting customer complaints n the large distribution industry can provide managers useful information and insight who want to achieve an effective customer complaint management.

  • Recently many organization to become survival in changing marketplace, they must commit to implementing tools, systems, and quality management techniques. In this paper we develop process method of Team's problem-solving to reduce in failure costs. This paper suggest the step process how to measure quality cost reasonably that works in all types organizations. Or what is continuous improvement? Continuous improvement can be described as the continuous reduction of variation. Variation has many sources(machines, methods, materials, measurements, people, and environments) and cause(special & common in organization). As quality cost are not the answer to every organization financial, or quality-related problem, it's real results are designing & implementing quality cost system might be the answer.

Factors Affecting Quality Management Failure in Construction Projects

  • Identifying the root causes of substandard construction projects is crucial considering the social and economic issues structural failures can cause. To date, the focus has predominantly been on identifying and penalizing the culprits rather than uncovering the fundamental reasons. Therefore, this study aims to identify various factors that contribute to failures in construction project quality management, including aspects of substandard construction projects, and determine the relationship between these factors and substandard construction projects. Through a literature review and case analysis, 61 influential factors were identified. A survey targeting participants including structural designers, architectural designers, construction companies, CM, and researchers was conducted to gauge the consensus on these factors. A regression analysis was performed based on data from 724 survey respondents. Ultimately, based on the 17 key influencing factors identified by the regression analysis, 9 preventive measures against substandard construction projects were proposed. This study is significant as it elucidates the reasons behind construction project quality management failures that lead to substandard construction projects and establishes a framework for developing practical solutions to real-world problems rather than theoretical or abstract ones.

  • Purpose: To ensure good quality munitions, we require quantitative risk management and optimal risk management of system characteristics. Methods: Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is a widely used technique to assess or to improve reliability of products at early stage of design and development. Traditionally, the prioritization of failures for corrective actions is performed by developing a risk priority number (RPN). Results: This paper reestablishes an effective methodology for prioritization of failure modes in FMEA procedure. Revised evaluation criteria of RPN are devised. Conclusion: To verify the proposed methodology, it is applied to RPN evaluation for K21 infantry combat vehicle.
