  • Taguchi robust design is widely used to quality improve methods. Especially, interest of dynamic characteristics parameter design is getting grow. In this paper, we have a comparative analyzed three Signal-to-Noise Ratios which are used in American Supplier Institute(ASI), MINITAB and Taguchi series published by Japanese Standard Institute with numerical examples.

  • Mahalanobis Taguchi System (MTS) is developed by Genishi Taguchi as a part of his quality engineering methodology. The basic idea of Taguchi's quality engineering is looking for the way of effectiveness of analyzing multivariate system. In the MTS, with the standardized variables of healthy normal data, Mahalanobis Distance(MD) calculated and that can be discriminate between normal and abnormal objects. If this discrimination process is successful, next step is optimization which is try to reduce number of attributes by neglecting less effective attributes to MD. Orthogonal Array (OA) and Signal to Noise ratio (S/N) are used to evaluate the amount contribution of each attribute to the MD. Wisconsin Breast Cancer study, from machining learning repository at University of California at Irvine, used for examining the discriminant ability of MTS.

  • The prediction of quality characteristics during the design phase of a construction project was fragmented, because no particular method exists. One of the most important key responses is the total displacements (horizontal and vertical). A brainstorming session produces the quality parameters i.e. the control factors which here are identified as: the steel joint, the pile's length, the excavation depth and angle, the distance between the piles, the anchor stretch and length to name just some of the most engaging in the design. The purpose of this study is to optimise these parameters to minimize the total displacements following a methodology based on Taguchi method. For this reason, a 2-level, L8 orthogonal array has been employed to organize the experimentation. Data is obtained from a real-life excavation project designed on the Plaxis v.8 CAE package. Taguchi analysis is performed in the statistical package Minitab.

  • The Robust Design method uses a mathematical tool called orthogonal arrays to study a large number of decision variables with a small number of experiments. It also uses a new measure of quality, called signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, to predict the quality from the customer's perspective. Thus, the most economical product and process design from both manufacturing and customers' viewpoints can be accomplished at the smallest, affordable development cost. Many companies, big and small, high-tech and low-tech, have found the Robust Design method valuable in making high-quality products available to customers at a low competitive price while still maintaining an acceptable profit margin. A study to analyze and solve problems of a biochemical process experiment has presented in this paper. We have taken Taguchi's parameter design approach, specifically orthogonal array, and determined the optimal levels of the selected variables through analysis of the experimental results using S/N ratio.

  • Polyacetal resin is usually used to make molds, but it is difficult to achieve dimension accuracy during molding. Therefore it is usually necessary to cut the polyacetal resin after a molding process. Polyacetal resin is easily machining by standard machine tool. Acetal is also a thermal stable material which can be totted without coolant Another concern about the use of polyacetal resin is that it absorbs water easily, which also results in problems with dimension accuracy Therefore, in this study, the cutting resistance of water-absorbed polyacetal resin and its surface roughness after cutting in order to achieve the highest degree of accuracy in the cutting of polyacetal resin were investigated. 공동주택 현장의 품질관리 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Quality Management in Apartment Construction Projects)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 공동주택 건설현장의 품질관리 문제점 분석 및 개선방안을 제시하고자 문헌조사와 인터뷰 및 설문조사를 실시하여 문제점을 4가지 저해요인으로 분석하고, 4가지 저해요인 중 사람(조직)에 관련된 부분을 다구찌 S/N비 이론에 따라 품질에 관한 인지도, 품질조직(품질경영), 품질교육, 품질시스템으로 구분하고 개선방안을 제시하였다. 품질에 대한 인지도에서 모든 구성원의 적극적인 참여의식이 필요하고, 최고경영자, 현장소장(경영자)이 품질을 최우선으로 인식하고 실천해야 할 것으로 나타났다. 현장은 작업 팀 단위로 자원이 할당되고, 작업 팀 구성원의 충분한 의견을 반영한 수 있을 때 품질이 개선될 수 있으므로, 정보 기술을 이용하여 부서간 업무조정으로 작업 중복 등 비효율적인 원인 등을 최소화 시켜야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 품질교육은 계층별로 실무와 관련된 교육이 수행되어야 하고, 체계적인 교육을 바탕으로 이해와 관심을 유도하도록 지속적이어야 할 것으로 나타났다. 품질시스템은 현장에서 풀질문제가 발생할 때 적극적으로 대처할 수 있어야 하며, 품질방침과 목표를 명확히 하고, 품질 활동주체 상호간의 의사소통이 원활히 이루어질 수 있도록 구축되어야 할 것으로 나타났다.

다공정 제조시스템에서의 전수검사에 관한 연구 (Design of Screening Inspection in a Multi-Stage Manufacturing Systems)

  • In this paper, we illustrate how to design screening inspections for minimizing a total quality costs in a multi-stage manufacturing systems. The total quality cost model consists of inspection costs, internal failure costs, external failure costs, and Taguchi's loss function. Although, the use of automatic test equipment such as machnie vision and CMM has greatly increased inspection speed and accuracy, screeing(100% inspection) could be considered only as a short-term method to remove nonconforming items from a population, not for a long-term quality improvement. However, screeing should be used for certain situations such as before costly operations and after unsatisfied operations. This paper ends with an example that demonstrates the usefulness of the model.

품질기능전개를 통한 품질특성값 결정방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Determination Method of Engineering Characteristic Values by QFD)

  • First, in order to improve selecting method of quality characteristic level desired by customers, S/N(Signal-to-Noise) ratio of Taguchi in larger-the-better characteristics was applied. Second, the Matrix classification standard of ACE(Attribute Categorization Evaluation) is presented using KANO model on difference analysis of importance and satisfaction through questionnaire from customers. This is for reflecting the diverse EC which customers want in EC quality sufficiently. Also, establishing sales point will be helpful in business strategy through presenting types that are able to decide planning quality. Third, the important measure of EC about correlation among quality characteristics and a new weight of EC are calculated depending on importance of EC and the weight of customer attribute and materials of relationship matrix through correlation matrix analysis.
