  • The intensity of beam of light entering near the pupil edge is less than when it passes through the center of the pupil, this phenomenon is known as the Stiles-Crawford effect. In this paper, we investigate the variation in the shape of confusion circle when the real amplitude distribution of incident beam in pupil area is shifted to any direction by effects. The shape of confusion circle on the image surface is rotational symmetric when the real amplitude distribution of incident beam in pupil area isn't shifted, and the shape of confusion circle on the image surface is asymmetric as ellipse when the real amplitude distribution of incident beam in pupil area is shifted. The shifted direction of the real amplitude distribution of incident beam in pupil area equals the major axis direction of confusion circle on the image surface. When the shifted direction of the real amplitude distribution of incident beam in pupil area changes from ${\Delta}{\phi}$ to ${\Delta}{\phi}+{\pi}$, the intensity distributions and the shapes of confusion circle on the image surface for ${\Delta}{\phi}$ equals that for ${\Delta}{\phi}+{\pi}$. We know from above results that the influences of ${\Delta}{\phi}+{\pi}$ and ${\Delta}{\phi}+{\pi}$ cases on the image quality of optical system equal.

  • This research introduces the Financial Effect Measurement (FEM) models which measures both the improvement and the innovation performance of Quality Control Circle (QCC) and activities of Six Sigma. Concepts and principle of Comprehensive Income Statement (CIS), Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Time-Driven Activity Based-Costing (TDABC) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) are applied in order to develop the 4 FEM models presented in this paper. First of all, FEM using CIS depicts the improvement effects of production capacity and yield using relationships between demand and supply, and line balancing efficiency between bottleneck process and non-bottleneck processes. Secondly, cause-and-effect relation of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is used to present Critical Success Factor (CSF) effects for QC Story 15 steps of QCC and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) of Six Sigma. The next is FEM model for service management innovation activities that uses TDABC to calculate the time-driven effect for improving the indirect activities according to the cost object. Lastly, FEM model for TPM activities presents the interpretation of improvement effect model of TPM Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operating Expenditure (OPEX) maintenance using profit, cash and Economic Added Value (EVA) as metrics of enterprise values. To better understand and further investigate FEMs, recent cases on National Quality Circle Contest are used to evaluate new financial effect measurement developed in this paper.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the correlation of soil physical properties and growth of turfgrass on the ground of Olympic-mainstadium. Soil hardness and turf visual quality were measured at 77 plots (10m x 10m divided each) independently and analyzed correlation later. Physicochemical properties of the topsoil analyzed from three typical levels of the severely, moderately, slightly compacted areas. The ground showed high hardness at the center circle and the goal line, but low at the end line areas. On the contrary, visual quality rate of turfgrass was low at the center circle and the goal line, but high at the end line areas. The correlation was shown a significant negative value on soil hardness between turf visual quality Soil hardness seems to be accelerated by the improper soil texture of sandy loam which contained a large amount of finer particle of silt (10.7%) and clay (11.1%) which values exceeded for USGA (United State Golf Association) recommendation. Deterioration of turf quality resulted initially from improper construction and followed by high soil compaction with continuous uses of the ground without proper maintenance. To perform the international quality of the turf ground, the initial construction procedures should be followed by standard specifications of sport ground.

  • The present survey was made through mail questionaires aiming at understanding the conditions of quality control, finding problems and making improvement for manufacturing companies located in the Chonbuk area. The conditions of quality control were compared between KS marking companies and non KS marking companies regardless of manufactured products. The main check points were the function of process control, the function of quality assurance, the function of quality survey, the function of quality system, quality education, quality training, the function of QC circle and general functions excepting the scale of enterprise.

  • For implementing TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Loading) to adopt more effective management of water pollution, water quality modeling is pre-requisite and such modeling requires the extraction of stream centerline. The institutes responsible for the water quality modeling, however, generates the stream centerline with their own criteria and this lead to low accuracy of the extracted centerline as well as different modeling results for the same watershed. Therefore, this study mainly focused on the development of extraction method of the stream centerline. For that, an automated method has been developed through the integration of the centerline extraction method using a maximum inscribed circle with GIS. The result has shown that the newly developed method could enable to represent more details of the stream topography along with enhanced accuracy compared with conventional extraction method. Furthermore, the new method can afford centerline extraction for the island areas which has been the limitation of the conventional method thereby supporting water quality modeling in a detailed level.

  • Top Managers are apt to do the decision making on the base of cost-benefit analysis. Therefore the return on quality is indispensable to get the commitment of the top managers on the quality programs. The monetary or tangible effects of the most improvement activities through the suggestion systems and the quality circle activities are computed and reported. In most cases the reported gains are much bigger than the input invested. In spite of the reported high return many top managers are doubtful about the truth of reports because the gains are not translated into the profit on the income statement. This paper discusses about the mechanism of individual improvement activities and analyze the system effect which sum the individual effect and the realization effect on the income statement during that period. This will help the top managers to commit on the quality programs with high confidence.

  • QCC(Quality Control Circle) is a labor or employee group that regularly meets to discuss ways of improving product quality. Its goal is to develop and present various ways for employees to solve problems, generate and implement new ideas and gather information that would prove helpful in both areas. It will also educate employees of the responsibilities that a quality warranty will bring forth. This study conducted research on the QCC activity of Korean manufacturers in two primary ways: first part consisted of items used to diagnose QCC activity, Second part consisted of 8 items used to investigate goals and their effectiveness, obstruction and organization. Accordingly, main goal of our research was to find ways to improve through QCC.

  • Wavelet transformation in image compression is to offer higher image compressibility and high-quality by quantization and entropy encoding. More image quality is good that reconstructed image by wavelet calculation than acquire cosine transform. Therefore, wavelet itself is function if it is wavelet's feature, in this function, do processing applying difference scale and resolution. That is, this is not that fixed resolution has been decided like existent compression way, when it regulated scale, damage goes in pixel and picture looks like break without giving damage entirely in reflex even if magnify or curtail Decoding. Therefore, this paper is in Image that using new wavelet application compression way research that see applies comparing In each image noted this time compressing step by step with circle image compression efficiency recognize. Also, estimated quality pass through by printing of compressed image, investigated compression ratio of most suitable that get print of high quality and elevation of transmission speed.

  • Six Sigma was introduced into Korea in 1997, and it is regarded as a fascinating management strategy in many Korean companies. First of all, the reasons why Six Sigma is fascinating are given and a smart way to introduce Six Sigma is illustrated. Seven step procedures to introduce Six Sigma are explained. Next, the differences of problem-solving processes for project team activities for R&D, manufacturing, and service areas are compared. Third, a typical process for R&D Six Sigma is proposed, and major activities and scientific methods at each process step are suggested. Fourth, some differences between Six Sigma project team and quality circle team are presented. Finally, a Six Sigma model for e-business is proposed and briefly explained.
