본 연구는 질 개념과 질적 인식에 대한 이해를 통해 질적 연구의 타당도(validity)와 관련된 기존의 담론들을 비판적으로 검토하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구목적의 달성은 크게 두 가지 연구 과정으로 이루어졌다. 먼저 다양한 질적 연구의 접근들과 모학문(parents disciplines)의 보편적인 토대를 마련하기 위해 철학의 존재론과 인식론을 통해 질 개념과 질적 인식의 본성을 살펴보고, 다음으로 이를 토대로 하여 질적 연구의 본성에 부합하는 바람직한 타당도 담론의 의미와 방향을 기존의 타당도 논의들을 중심으로 탐색하였다. 존재론과 인식론을 통해 살펴본 질은 사물의 본질에 대한 범주로써 인식대상인 실재의 무엇임(what-ness)으로 규정되며 내재적으로 주관적인 질적 인식은 인식 내용의 확인과 표현의 과정에서 사회성과 긴장관계를 형성함을 알 수 있었다. 질 개념과 질적 인식에 대한 이해를 통해 살펴본 타당도 기준에 관한 기존의 담론들은 크게 두 가지 측면에서 바람직한 것으로 드러났다. 첫째, 무엇보다 타당도 논의가 질적 연구의 본성인 주관성을 확보하고 구현하려는 방향으로 전개되고 있어 양적연구와 구별되는 스스로의 기준을 모색하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 이와 같은 질적 인식의 주관성이 인식의 내용확인과 교류 그리고 표현의 과정에서 주관성의 폐쇄성을 극복하고 사회성을 획득하려는 노력을 경주하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this research is to find out the change in graduate students' perceptions before and after they take a class on qualitative research. The class on qualitative research was held by the researcher in the winter semester of 2009. The subjects are nine graduate students (two male and eight female) and all elementary school teachers. An open-ended questionnaire with 5 items was used. The responses were interpreted, analyzed and categorized into several main conceptions. The results are as follow: First, some students perceived qualitative research as the counterpart for quantitative research, some perceived that qualitative research supplements quantitative research, while the rest of them had no concept of either before they took the class. Second, they all agreed that qualitative research is necessary in gifted education after they took the class. In order to better understand what is happening in classrooms, in terms of gifted education, a well organized curriculum for gifted education should be developed and conducted in graduate schools.

이 연구는 한국 사회복지 질적 연구의 동향과 그 의미를 탐색한다. 연구결과, 한국사회복지 질적 연구는 "태동기"에 진입하고 있었고 그 지형적 특징은 후실증주의 혹은 발견주의의 압도적 열세, 연구물 산출에서의 지역간, 대학간의 현격한 편차, 학문후속세대의 질적 연구에 대한 급격한 관심 증가, 질적 연구의 리드 집단으로서 학문후속세대의 두각으로 드러났다. 한국 사회복지 질적 연구 동향의 중요한 축이라고 할 수 있는 산출된 연구물에 대한 비평에서는 해석적 패러다임의 주도, 절차주의에의 경도, 주제의 빈약성, 특정 질적 연구 전통에의 편향이라는 특징들을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 한국 사회복지 질적 연구의 동향은 그것이 가진 한계에도 불구하고 우리 학문공동체에 다양한 함의를 시사하고 있었다. 그것은 실증주의라는 지배적 지식기반에 대한 비판의 의미와 함께 실증주의에 비견할 대항적 인식론, 대항적 담론을 형성할 필요성을 시사하였다. 또한 비록 서구와 같이 격렬한 "논쟁"의 방식으로 패러다임의 다원화를 위한 노력이 가시화되고 있지는 않지만 "저변확대"의 형태로 패러다임의 다원화를 촉진할 수 있는 토대를 형성하고 있었다. 마지막으로 인과론적이고 시장중심적인 사회복지 현상에 대한 사유방식을 비인과적이고 덜 시장중심적인 내러티브적 사유방식의 확산이라는 의미를 내포하는 것으로 분석되었다.

본 연구는 수학교육 관련 연구에서 질적 접근을 적용한 논문들의 질적 접근 활용양상을 탐색하고, 질적 접근의 타당도와 신실성 향상 방안을 논의하고, 수학교육 분야에서 질적 접근 활용에 대한 시사점과 제언을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 2019년부터 2020년까지 한국수학교육학회지 시리즈E <수학교육논문집>에 게재된 13편의 논문에 대한 기초분석을 실시하여 전반적인 경향성을 진단하였다. 질적연구 적용 양상에 대한 경향성은, 적극적 질적연구 6편, 반(semi) 질적연구 3편, 혼합연구 3편, 문헌연구와 질적연구의 혼입 1편 등으로 나타났다. 기초분석 결과를 토대로, 13편의 논문 중 질적 접근을 적극 활용하여 풍부한 논의를 가능하게 할 수 있는 6편의 논문에 대한 질적 분석을 실행하였다. 6편의 논문의 방법론에 대한 세밀한 질적 분석 결과는 질적연구의 타당도와 신실성(trustworthiness)과 관련된 이슈들을 해당 연구의 맥락에서 상세하게 논의하고 있다. 아울러, 이러한 질적 분석의 결과에 기초하여, 향후 수학교육 분야에서 질적연구를 활용할 때 유념해야 할 사항들을 제시하고 있다.

Purpose: This study was to examine the trend of qualitative study published by Korean Journal of Adult Nursing from 1989 to 2011, and to suggest future directions through identifying its strength and weakness. Methods: Ninety one published qualitative studies were analyzed focusing on research methodology and research themes using descriptive statistics. Results: During the last 22 years, the number of qualitative studies has rapidly increased and the methodology used to analyze qualitative data has been diversified. The most frequently used analytic method was a phenomenology (48.4%) and the frequency of conducting a content analysis has increased. The prevailing data collection settings were community (61.5%), followed by hospital (35.2%). Especially, many researches showed specific description on researcher's efforts to get validity and reliability of studies in individual studies presented within recent 10 years. However, it was noted that meta study using mixed methodology and secondary analysis of qualitative studies are rarely used and need to be facilitated. Conclusion: Nursing Researchers utilizing qualitative research should continuously make efforts to increase the validity and reliability of their studies and to find knowledges or strategies applicable to practice through using mixed methods or secondary analysis of individual studies.

본 연구는 한국 사회복지학에서의 엄격성과 관련된 질적 연구자의 경험을 심층 분석하여 향후 과제를 논의하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 질적 연구방법으로 학위논문을 쓰거나 학술지에 질적 연구를 활발히 발표하고 있는 질적 연구자 9명을 연구참여자로 선정하여 개별 및 포커스그룹인터뷰를 실시하였다. 또한 연구결과보고에 엄격성이 어떠한 형태로 글쓰기 되는지를 보고자 사회복지학관련 주요학술지 8종에 개재된 2,112편의 논문을 내용 분석하여 질적 인터뷰 결과 분석을 보완하였다. 연구 결과, 한국사회복지학에서의 질적 연구는 국내에서 학위를 받은 학문 후속세대에 의해 '필요에 의해 확산' 되는 독특한 형태로 아래로부터 위로 나아가는 정향을 보여주었다. 또한 인식론적 입장으로는 후기실증주의적 관점과 약한 구성주의적 관점이 혼재되어 있는 것으로 나타났다. 엄격성과 관련해서는 연구시작부터 결과보고에 이르는 전 과정에서 연구자의 책임성을 바탕으로, 진실하고 기본에 충실하게 하는 것을 강조하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 현재 한국 사회복지학문공동체가 지향해야 할 주요 과제들을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 한국사회복지질적연구의 엄격성에 대한 담론이 활성화되어, 보다 질(Quality) 높은 연구결과가 산출되기를 기대한다.

본 연구는 한국 사회복지학 연구방법론에 대한 분석과 고찰을 통하여 질적 연구방법의 사회복지학에 대한 유용성을 논의하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 사회복지학의 가장 대표적인 학술지인 "한국사회복지학"에 실린 학술논문 538편을 연구 방법론에 초점을 두고 분석한다. 분석 결과, 우리나라 사회복지학은 양적 연구방법에의 과도한 편향이 매우 극심한 상황인 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 1990년대 중반이 되면서 이러한 한계가 지적되어 질적 연구방법을 활용한 논문들이 등장하기 시작하는데, 엄밀성 측면에서 볼 때 방법의 적절성과 수준은 매우 제한적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 한국 사회복지학 연구방법론의 동향 분석과 함께 본 연구는 질적 연구방법의 특성과 유형을 정리하면서 한국 사회복지학과 질적 연구방법의 적합성(fitness) 즉 '질적 연구방법이 왜 필요한가' 그리고 '그 유용성은 무엇인가'를 중심으로 논의를 전개한다. 이러한 논의를 통하여 본 연구는 한국 사회복지학의 양적 연구방법에 편향된 상황에 대한 문제를 제기하며, 사회현상의 본질과 실재를 이해하기 위해서는 하나의 방법론이나 패러다임에 얽매이지 않고 사회과학의 많은 연구방법을 적절하게 활용하는 것이 매우 중요함을 제시한다.

Objectives This research was aimed to analyze and assess the articles of qualitative research of Pediatrics by following Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ). Methods Two researchers analyzed and assessed the reports' quality and appropriateness based on COREQ guideline. The articles that failed to achieve consensus from the two researchers, the third researcher made a final decision. Results A total of fifty-six reports which used caregivers as participants, were selected and adopted qualitative research methods were chosen. In most qualitative studies, COREQ was not implemented. Some parts of the studies were poorly described and elaborated when reviewing them based on the COREQ guidelines. In the 'Research team and reflexivity', there was lack of description about the researcher. In the 'Study design', there were no detailed descriptions on the approaches they took in recruiting their study participants. There was not enough detail reflexivity participants who refused, and where the recruitment took place. There were also no records of whether there was a pilot test or a data saturation. In 'Analysis and findings' section, there were few articles mentioning Participant checking, and the main opinion of the participants were well analyzed in all the papers, but excluding opinions of few participants. Conclusions There are still many qualitative studies that have caregivers as participants, in the field of pediatrics. However, methodological skills are insufficient. The use of the COREQ guidelines should be further implemented for more robust and methodological improvement.

본 연구의 목적은 문헌정보학 학술지에 발표된 질적 연구논문의 연구 동향을 분석하여 발전의 지향점을 모색하고자 한다. 문헌정보학을 대표하는 4개 학술지의 2016년까지 총 73편(1.4%)의 논문을 선별하였다. 분석 결과, 1) 질적연구로 가장 선호하는 주제는 정보행태(39.7%)와 사서업무(20.5%)이다. 2) 연구 목적은 경험의 이해(60.2%)가 우세하였고, 그 다음으로는 현황 개선(30.1%)이다. 3) 선호하는 연구방법은 '일반 질적 연구'(26.0%), '무언급'(21.9%), 근거이론(13.6%), 현상학(10.9%), 사례연구(10.9%) 등 이다. 4) 연구의 참여자는 사서가 41.0%로 매우 우세하였다. 그 다음으로는 전문직 종사자(13.6%)이다. 5) 가장 선호하는 자료수집방법은 심층면담(20.5%), 면담(13.6%), 심층면담과 내부자료(9.5%)이다. 연구 결과, 문헌정보학 분야 질적 연구의 스펙트럼은 매우 다양하여, '느슨한 질적 연구'와 '과학성을 지향하는 질적 연구'가 공존하고 있었다. 문헌정보학의 질적 연구의 발전을 도모하기 위해서는 개인적 차원에서는 질적 연구자의 인식 고양, 엄격한 연구방법(자료수집, 분석과 해석, 타당성과 신뢰성)의 적용이 요구된다. 제도적 차원에서는, '질적 연구방법'의 교과목 설치, 심사자와 연구자의 질적 연구 수행과 이해를 돕기 위한 문헌정보학 질적 연구지침과 표준 제작이 필요하다.

This study aims to provide philosophical frameworks and approaches, and practical guidelines to interview research. While there are some studies which focus on the practical guidelines, there is a lack of studies which address the philosophical and conceptual issues integral to qualitative interview research. By discussing three different but related philosophical aspects of qualitative interviewing--phenomenology, hermeneutics, and dialectics--consistency among research purpose, research method, research methodology is pursued. Based on this discussion, four stages of interviewing--designing, conducting, analyzing, and writing of qualitative interview research--are presented.
