  • A multiple criteria model for the facility layout problem considers both of the quantitative, the cost of the work flow, and qualitative, the closeness rating score, aspect. Rosenblatt, Fortenberry & Cox and Urban have developed multiple criteria models that consider both of the quantitative and qualitative aspect. Fortenberry & Cox's multiplicity model penalizes facilities with undesirable closeness rating and high work flows more than those undesirable closeness rating and low work flow between them to contribute to the objective function regardless of the closeness rating between these facilities. In this paper, it is intended to develops a improved multiple-criteria facility layout model considering the function for maintaning the distance between facilities.

  • Redesign of business processes still attracts a lot of interest. There have been a variety of quantitative approaches to analyze of business process. However, to examine and determine the quality-focused characteristics of the business process, a qualitative approach should be deployed. This paper introduces a qualitative approach process analysis, especially adopted the concept of the emotional engineering which is used in the area of the product design. To analyze the qualitative aspect of the business process, the emotional adjectives for the business process are used. The proposed methodology enables to determine which of business process is better or not in a more intuitive way.

  • In this paper, we studied into a qualitative research to see mathematical understanding of preschool and kindergarten's teachers such as feeling attitude, parents' concern, difficulty of math teaching in kindergarten field, teacher's role, type of feed back, beauty of math, relationship of real life, and self philosophy of math education. We selected 10 teachers whose career was 7~10 years. Because this research way is qualitative, we can new aspect that teacher want to break their ignorance for math. Moreover, they would like to learn about math practicality, application, and beauty from art in professional training. Therefore we assert that fusion math lecture would support in the professional training for teacher, preschool or kindergarten's president training, and remuneration training.

  • Public and private sectors are experiencing a worldwide economic depression originated from the failure of U.S. financial system. At a harsh time like this, policy-makers need to understand more about the effects of the creative leadership in the digital era. However, there haven't been enough studies performed on this field in Korea. This study aims to fill the blank and learn more about the correlation between creative leadership and organizational effectiveness. To achieve this goal, various previous leadership studies have been reviewed in terms of organizational behaviors, comparative culture studies, and etc. In the end, this study argues previous qualitative studies' weaknesses and limitations, and tries to suggest new aspect of qualitative research method of creative leadership.

  • This paper describes a study which was undertaken in Ulsan City. The modified SLP procedures consider the quantitative flow aspect of the facilities layout problem as well as the qualitative closeness rating aspect. Conclusions are drawn as to the effectiveness of the proposed model in providing Ulsan City with better means of making the facilities location allocation decision for Industrial Technology Research Park.

한국 사회복지 질적 연구: 동향과 의미 (A Study on the Social Welfare Qualitative Research in Korea: Trends and Implications)

  • 이 연구는 한국 사회복지 질적 연구의 동향과 그 의미를 탐색한다. 연구결과, 한국사회복지 질적 연구는 "태동기"에 진입하고 있었고 그 지형적 특징은 후실증주의 혹은 발견주의의 압도적 열세, 연구물 산출에서의 지역간, 대학간의 현격한 편차, 학문후속세대의 질적 연구에 대한 급격한 관심 증가, 질적 연구의 리드 집단으로서 학문후속세대의 두각으로 드러났다. 한국 사회복지 질적 연구 동향의 중요한 축이라고 할 수 있는 산출된 연구물에 대한 비평에서는 해석적 패러다임의 주도, 절차주의에의 경도, 주제의 빈약성, 특정 질적 연구 전통에의 편향이라는 특징들을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 한국 사회복지 질적 연구의 동향은 그것이 가진 한계에도 불구하고 우리 학문공동체에 다양한 함의를 시사하고 있었다. 그것은 실증주의라는 지배적 지식기반에 대한 비판의 의미와 함께 실증주의에 비견할 대항적 인식론, 대항적 담론을 형성할 필요성을 시사하였다. 또한 비록 서구와 같이 격렬한 "논쟁"의 방식으로 패러다임의 다원화를 위한 노력이 가시화되고 있지는 않지만 "저변확대"의 형태로 패러다임의 다원화를 촉진할 수 있는 토대를 형성하고 있었다. 마지막으로 인과론적이고 시장중심적인 사회복지 현상에 대한 사유방식을 비인과적이고 덜 시장중심적인 내러티브적 사유방식의 확산이라는 의미를 내포하는 것으로 분석되었다.

  • Numerical method is applied to predict the time variation behavior of flammable mixture formation in a two dimensional enclosure from the beginning of gas leak. Additionally experimental method is used to consider qualitative aspects. Characteristics of flammable mixture formation such as distribution of flow and fuel mass fraction at various locations in the enclosure are determined for the following parameters: the various locations of leak at the bottom and aspect ratio of the enclosure. In the case of gas leak with small leak velocity from the bottom of enclosure gravitational force affects the formation of flammable mixture. Aspect ratio of the enclosure also affects the formation of flammable mixture. The volume of the region of recirculating flow is dominant factor affecting the formation mixture.

  • In this study, we intend to integrate the database(DB) method into one logical structure that is related to damage such as cause and type of damages occurring in the DMZ area. We divided the DMZ members into two types, which are classified into qualitative and quantitative aspects based on the current status survey for three years as a study of database construction, So that the actual data can be utilized in future restoration. The database construction through each restoration direction regarding the type of DMZ corruption is as follows. First, we recognized the necessity of restoration of the damaged area of the DMZ, and approached it as a plan to select the damaged mark. Second, DMZ database reconstruction can be used as a restoration of damages, suggesting more information and restoration type through building an ecological database for education and research. Third, in order to maintain and restore restoration of damaged areas continuously at the national level, it is necessary to institutionalize guidelines for reasonable internal restoration in the national level as data that can be credited externally and can be acknowledged as the latest data.

Application of AIG Implemented within CLASS Software for Generating Cognitive Test Item Models

  • Scale scores for cognitive domains have been used as an important indicator for both academic achievement and clinical diagnosis. For example, in education, Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) has been used to measure student's capability in academic learning. In a clinical setting, Cognitive Impairment Screening Test utilizes items measuring cognitive ability as a dementia screening test. We demonstrated a procedure of generating cognitive ability test items similar as in CogAT but the theory associated with the generation is totally different. When creating cognitive test items, we applied automatic item generation (AIG) that reduces errors in predictions of cognitive ability but attains higher reliability. We selected two cognitive ability test items, categorized as a time estimation item for measuring quantitative reasoning and a paper-folding item for measuring visualization. As CogAT has widely used as a cognitive measurement test, developing an AIG-based cognitive test items will greatly contribute to education field. Since CLASS is the only LMS including AIG technology, we used it for the AIG software to construct item models. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the item generation process using AIG implemented within CLASS, along with proving quantitative and qualitative strengths of AIG. In result, we confirmed that more than 10,000 items could be made by a single item model in the quantitative aspect and the validity of items could be assured by the procedure based on ECD and AE in the qualitative aspect. This reliable item generation process based on item models would be the key of developing accurate cognitive measurement tests.

6차와 7차 교과서 분석을 통한 그래프 지도 방안 (An Analysis of Graphing Domain in the Sixth and the Seventh Curriculum Textbooks)

  • This paper investigated the teaching and teaming of contents-related graphing in Korean secondary textbooks and suggested the improved methods of graph instruction through this analysis. reification-the case of function, In Harel, G., Dubinsky(Eds.), The Concept of Function : Aspects of Epistemology and Pedagogy Textbooks are analyzed from the viewpoint of the proportion of graphing contents, their sequencing, the proportion of each domain in graphing activities (interpretation vs. construction, quantitative vs. qualitative aspect, local vs. global aspect) and tasks (prediction, translation, scaling), and the difference in the graphing contents between the sixth and the seventh curriculum. This analysis demonstrates that graphing contents are increasing in textbooks, therefore the high school textbooks appear in almost every content area. The graphing activities concentrate on the construction, the quantitative aspects, and the local aspects, and are gradually focusing on the interpretation and global aspects of high school textbooks. Furthermore, most of graphing tasks favor translation. In contrast, the current seventh curriculum includes a balance of interpretation and construction activities and has more global aspects than the sixth curriculum based textbooks; however, the qualitative approach still rarely appears. For the graphing tasks, translation is still prevalent, but the importances of prediction tasks based on graph have increased in comparison with the sixth curriculum textbooks. Further, the seventh curriculum based textbooks are designed to stimulate more dynamic graphing instruction by introducing new tools such as graphing calculators and computer software. We suggest that the qualitative and global aspects should be emphasized in early graph instruction, a variety of graph activities in realistic contexts should be performed, and educational technology such as graphing calculator and computer can be efficient to implement these ideas.
