  • The hourly volatile organic compounds(VOCs) concentrations between 2005 and 2008 at Bulgwang photochemical assessment monitoring station were investigated to establish a method for quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC) procedure. Systematic error, erratic error, and random error, which was manifested by outlier and highly fluctuated data, were checked and removed. About 17.3% of the raw data were excluded according to the proposed QA/QC procedure. After QA/QC, relative standard deviation for representing 15 species concentrations decreased from 94.7-548.0% to 63.4-125.8%, implying the QA/QC procedure is proper. For further evaluation about the adequacy of QA/QC procedure, principal components analysis(PCA) was carried out. When the data after QA/QC procedure was used for PCA, the extracted principal components were different from the result from the raw data and could logically explain the major emission sources(gasoline vapor, vehicle exhaust, and solvent usage). The QA/QC procedure based on the concept of errors is inferred to proper to be applied on VOCs. However, an additional QA/QC step considering the relationship between species in the atmosphere needs to be further considered.

  • A testing inspection is one of the important in the industry, owing to determine the reliability and directivity of testing inspection results. Therefore, the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) work which performed by personnel not directly in the inventory compilation development, in testing inspection must be thoroughly considered. Some agencies for environmental test inspection, they sometimes misunderstood that the QA/QC was ended with proficiency testing performance and on-site assessment by a director. Thus, results were often calculated without QA/QC work by self manual when conducting test. The objective of this study was to improve reliability of testing and inspection agency through the QA/QC case study which basically performed to raising reliability of testing and inspection agency. In this study, it increased reliability of result by verifying calibration curve (IC, ICV, CCV), blank, accuracy (LCS, MS) and precision as QA/QC performance, while performing investigation of soil contamination in mining areas. This study suggests that reliability establishing method of test result and management method of analysis process, through the QA/QC instance of testing agency.

  • The expression of uncertainty applied to the chemical analysis is highly recommended with increasing demands upon the systematic quality assurance and control(QA/QC) with ISO 17025. For the quantification of quality source, 7 major common sources of uncertainty, normally contributing to the quality of the chemical analysis, were selected from QA/QC literatures of chemical analysis. They were classified into repeatability, drift, uncertainty in standards, linearity of calibration, homogeneity, stability of sample, and matrix effect. And, the quantification of the sources by means of measurement uncertainty was proposed as a prerequisite steps for QA/QC. Examples applied to the quantification procedures of modelling, combination and expression of standard uncertainty for the 7 major common sources were presented as a reference guide for QA/QC in chemical analysis.

  • Quality Assurance of Deep Mixing to fulfill the requirements of geotechnical design cannot be achieved only by the process control During production conducted by the deep mixing contractor but it should involve relevant activities that are carried out prior to, during and after the construction by all the parties involved in a deep mixing project. The requirement is different for different application, and hence, QA/QC method/procedure and verification technique may be different for different application. In order to maintain the high quality of deep mixing work in the global market, it is necessary to conduct a research project, such as investigation of illustrations, the variety of existing QA/QC methods/procedures, the correlation between the outcomes of different QA/QC methods. In these reason, it has been held the international meeting to discuss them, in that kind of activities in 2009 it will be held Symposium. • We have designed the software for geometrical QC/QA for medical linear accelerator using electronic portal imaging devices (EPID). The radiation-light field congruence, the collimator rotation axis, and the gantry rotation axis could be estimated with this software. Precision of the system is within 1mm. The collimator and the gantry rotation axis could be measured by superpositioning the images from 4 different collimator (or gantry) angles. The EPID system and the analysis software which was developed in this study make it possible that the quantitative and the objective geometrical QC/QA of the linear accelerator.

  • Purpose: In order to keep the acceptable level of the radiation oncology linear accelerators, it is necessary to apply a reliable quality assurance (QA) program. Materials and Methods: The QA protocols, published by authoritative organizations, such as the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), determine the quality control (QC) tests which should be performed on the medical linear accelerators and the threshold levels for each test. The purpose of this study is to increase the accuracy and precision of the selected QC tests in order to increase the quality of treatment and also increase the speed of the tests to convince the crowded centers to start a reliable QA program. A new method has been developed for two of the QC tests; optical distance indicator (ODI) QC test as a daily test and gantry angle QC test as a monthly test. This method uses an image processing approach utilizing the snapshots taken by the CCD camera to measure the source to surface distance (SSD) and gantry angle. Results: The new method of ODI QC test has an accuracy of 99.95% with a standard deviation of 0.061 cm and the new method for gantry angle QC has a precision of $0.43^{\circ}$. The automated proposed method which is used for both ODI and gantry angle QC tests, contains highly accurate and precise results which are objective and the human-caused errors have no effect on the results. Conclusion: The results show that they are in the acceptable range for both of the QC tests, according to AAPM task group 142.

  • The impact of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is the global issue over the world. Korean government has presented various policies to induce GHG reduction for the industries with high energy consumption such as power generation and chemistry. Construction sector has produced a large amount of GHG emissions resulted in the energy consumption of heavy equipments and the use of materials. This study aims to suggest the QA (Quality Assurance) and QC (Quality Control) method to identify and quantify the GHG emissions released from heavy equipments in the railroad construction sector. Generally, the accuracy and reliability of GHG inventory is dependent on the data collection. Therefore, it is necessary to mange the detailed statements for the fuel consumption of heavy equipments and the quantity of work in the field. Also, the breakdown of GHG emission sources should be recorded from the design step of railroad infrastructures. Based on these data, the GHG reduction technologies and polices can be applied in railroad construction sector.
