A Study on the Dynamic Responses of a PWM Based UPFC for the Application to Power System Through EMTP Simulation (EMTP 모의를 통한 PWM 방식 UPFC의 동적 특성 분석 및 전력 시스템 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the power system application of a PWM base UPFC through EMTP simulation. A PWM base UPFC model is constructed and detailed switching-level simulation is performed using EMTP. The dynamic responses of UPFC are analyzed. Based on the simulation results, the appropriate equivalent impedances of UPFC voltage-source model which represent similar dynamics with PWM based UPFC are determined by optimization routine. This paper also analyzes the influence of the power system strength on the dynamic responses of UPFC. Finally this paper shows that the performance of UPFC is improved by control parameter tuning when UPFC is installed to weak power system.

  • This paper proposes a novel Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) method for microprocessor implementation of full-bridge PWM inverters. In the method, the period of unipolar full-bridge inverters is divided equally into the frequency modulation ratio and the reference fundamental amplitude and the inverter output fundamental amplitude are compared. Using this method, the turn-on time computation of each interval is very favored for the microprocessor implementation. The harmonic analysis shows that the harmonics can be ignored when the modulation ratio is enough large. The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

  • This paper describes speed control of a permanent split capacitor single phase induction motor using SHE PWM inverters. The inverter is controlled by V55 microprocessor and its range is larger than other systems. Due to the V/F control with SHE(Selected Harmonic Elimination) PWM, continuously variable speed is attained and THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) is decreased. This is verified by simulations and experimental results.

  • In this paper, a new scheme of current programmed control for three phase PWM AC-AC converter is presented. Compared to duty-ratio voltage control, current programmed control has several advantages such as reduction of system order, inherent current protection and robust output. By considering only the magnitude components, a similar scheme in the DC-DC converter can be extended to the three phase PWM AC-AC converter. The proposed current programmed control will be well adopted into various converter topologies though three phase PWM AC-AC boost converter is treated as an example. The converter analysis is carried out by applying the vector DQ transformation to obtain physical insight into the converter operation and to establish some important characteristic equations for control purpose. The experiment results show the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • Current Source(CS) PWM converter is appropriate for the magnet power supply system which requests high power and high precision current control. Input and output filters should be installed to eliminate the current or voltage harmonics caused by the PWM switching for the CS PWM converter. But the input/output filters limit the output DC current range and may destroy the system with filter resonance, and make the system equation more complicated. In this paper, systematic and simple filter design method which considers not only the harmonic attenuation but also the total system good transfer function characteristics in the dc filter.   • 전동기의 제어기법과 제어기 등의 발달로 유도전동기는 산업용으로 널리 보급되고 있으며, 유도전동기를 고효율로 제어하기 위하여 PWM 인버터가 널리 사용되고 있다. 그리고 IGBT와 같은 고속 스위칭 소자의 발달로 인해 전압형 PWM 인버터의 스위칭 주파수가 증가가 가능하게 됐으며, 그로 인해 매우 우수한 동작 특성을 가지게 되었다. 그러나 고속 스위칭은 전압과 전류의 급격한 변화로 인해 매 스위칭마다 발생하는 고주파 성분의 커먼 모드전압과 전류를 발생하게 되고 이들은 베어링 전류와 축전압, 전도 및 방사 EMI, 기기의 절연수명 단축, 등의 악영향을 유발한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 커먼 모드 전압과 전류에 대한 시스템 레벨 해석이 가능한 시뮬레이션 기법에 대해 실제 측정과 시뮬레이션을 통해 검정하였다. 이를 통해서 커먼 모드 전압과 전류가 PWM 인버터 시스템의 각 부에 미치는 영향을 쉽게 확인 할 수 있으며, 커먼 모드 전압과 전류의 저감을 위해 추가될 수 있는 부가적인 보조회로의 영향에 대해서도 제시된 시뮬레이션 기법을 통해 확인 할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, a novel multivariable state feedback control with feedforward control is proposed to improve control performance of power conversion systems. The targets of the application are three-phase voltage-source PWM converter and inverter system, and current-source PWM converter and inverter system, of which equivalent circuits and models are derived and analyzed. Various simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper presents characteristics analysis of brushless DC motor(BLDCM) which is driven by four types of PWM mode. The Phase current, radial forte and torque ripples are generated differently at each PWM mode. So they have different influences on motor characteristics. In this paper, we analyzed characteristics of BLDCM using time-stepped voltage source finite element method. The effect of four types of PWM mode had been confirmed by comparing each phase current and torque ripple waveform. The compared simulation result is useful to select a better PWM mode.

  • Compare with diode or thyristor bridge AC/DC converter, the 3 phase PWM converter has some merits of low THD and unit power factor. So, in many critical application like as UPS, using PWM converter is the trends. 3 phase PWM converter had been studied widely already. But analytical design procedure can not found from publication for hardware design and controller design. So, in this paper, 3 phase PWM converter analysis review was given. And from the DC analysis result, parameter design was done. From the AC model, the voltage controller and current controller was designed. The gain of controllers was calculated by analytical method.

  • This paper deals with a three-phase Pulse width Modulation(PWM) voltage souse inverter-induction motor drive with a single-phase PWM converter. The single-phase system has the pulsating instantaneous power with twice the frequency of the ac source. The power pulsation generates the dc voltage pulsation of the converter. In result, the waveforms of the inverter output current and voltage are distorted. The steady-stare operations of the system are analyzed by employing a state-spare method Such everything confirmed it's validity throughout simulation and experiment.
