An Analysis on the Differences of Service Quality of Deluxe Hotels in Korea: Focusing on Region and Brand (우리나라 특1급 호텔의 지역별.브랜드별 서비스품질 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in the deluxe hotels'service quality in Korea according to the region and the brand. The subjects of this survey for the empirical analysis are limited to the customers of deluxe hotels in Korea: data(1,054 samples) are collected from 16 deluxe hotels among 27 of its kind in Seoul, Pusan, Cheju and Kyongju areas. The results are as follows. First, the hotel service quality between the hotels in Seoul and in provinces makes little difference. Second, the service quality in the Seoul, Pusan, Cheju and Kyongju areas shows significant difference. Third, there is also a significant difference on the service quality between domestic hotel brand and foreign-chained hotel brand.

Vertical Temperature Profile in the Yellow Sea according to the Variations of Air Temperature

  • The vertical temperature profiles of the Yellow Sea in summer are investigated by means of the nine air temperature (AT) patterns which are classified with the AT of winter and summer. The sea surface temperature (SST) is high when the AT of summer is high, and vice versa. The gradient of thermocline in the offshore region is higher than that in the coastal region and is not always favorable with the AT patterns. The relation between sea bottom temperature (SBT) and the AT of winter is favorable when the SBT is averaged in the coastal and offshore stations. In addition, the SST of coastal stations is higher than that of offshore stations because of the strong mixing by the tidal current in the coastal region. The correlation between the AT and the SST of August is favorable (r=0.44-0.69), while the correlation between the AT of February and the SBT of August is not favorable except the stations, A2 (r=0.57) and B2 (r=0.61).

The Method to Measure Saliency Values for Salient Region Detection from an Image

  • In this paper we introduce an improved method to measure saliency values of pixels from an image. The proposed saliency measure is formulated using local features of color and a statistical framework. In the preprocessing step, rough salient pixels are determined as the local contrast of an image region with respect to its neighborhood at various scales. Then, the saliency value of each pixel is calculated by Bayes' rule using rough salient pixels. The experiments show that our approach outperforms the current Bayes' rule based method.

  • Let X be a hyperbolic region in the complex plane C such that the hyperbolic metrix ${\lambda}_X(w){\mid}dw{\mid}$ exists. Let $R(X)=sup\{{\delta}_X(w):w{\in}X\}$ where ${\delta}_X(w)$ is the euclidean distance from w to ${\partial}X$. Here ${\partial}X$ is the boundary of X. A hyperbolic region X is called a Bloch region if R(X) < ${\infty}$. In this paper, we obtain lower bounds for the hyperbolic metric on Bloch regions in terms of the distance to the boundary.

  • Genus Phellinus taxonomically belongs to Aphyllophorales and some species of this genus have been used as a medicinal ingredients and Indian folk medicines. Especially, P. linteus and morphological-related species are well-known medicinal fungi that have various biological activities such as humoral and cell-mediated, anti-mutagenic, and anti-cancer activities. However, little is known about the rapid detection for complex Phellinus species. Therefore, this study was carried out to develop specific primers for the rapid detection of P. linteus and other related species. Designing the species-specific primers was done based on internal transcribed spacer sequence data. Each primer set detected specifically P. linteus (PL2/PL5R) and P. baumii (PB1/PB4R). These primer sets could be useful for the rapid detection of specific-species among unidentified Phellinus species. Moreover, restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the ITS region with HaeIII was also useful for clarifying the relationship between each 5 Phellinus species.

An Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Electrochemical Reactions of RDF/RPF in the Direct Carbon Fuel Cell (직접탄소 연료전지에서 RDF 및 RPF의 전기화학반응 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The electrochemical reaction of refuse derived fuel (RDF) and refuse plastic/paper fuel (RPF) was investigated in the direct carbon fuel cell (DCFC) system. The open circuit voltage (OCV) of RPF was higher than RDF and other coals because of its thermal reactive characteristic under carbon dioxide. The thermal reactivity of fuels was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis method. and the reaction rate of RPF was higher than other fuels. The behavior of all sample's potential was analogous in the beginning region of electrochemical reactions due to similar functional groups on the surface of fuels analyzed by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy experiments. The potential level of RDF and RPF decreased rapidly comparing to coals in the next of the electrochemical reaction because the surface area and pore volume investigated by nitrogen gas adsorption tests were smaller than coals. This characteristic signifies the contact surface between electrolyte and fuel is restricted. The potential of fuels was maintained to the high current density region over 40 $mA/cm^2$ by total carbon component. The maximum power density of RDF and RPF reached up to 45~70% comparing to coal. The obvious improvement of maximum power density by increasing operating temperature was observed in both refuse fuels.

  • The Raf, a cytoplasmic serine/thereonine protein kinase, acts as an important mediator of signals involving cell proliferation, differentiation and development. Multiple regulatory elements should participate in the expression of D-raf, Drosophila homolog of human c-raf-1. In order to search regulatory factors involved in the D-raf promoter activation, we accomplished the yeast one-hybrid screening using D-raf promoter region from bp-330 to -309 with respect to the transcription initiation site as bait. After screening, sixteen independent positive clones of ${\beta}$-galactosidase activties were identified and sequenced. Two clones having 94-98% identity with daughterless and one clone having 93% identity with escargot by Blast search among these clones were screened.

Radiographic evaluation of the course and visibility of the mandibular canal

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the course of the mandibular canal on panoramic radiography and the visibility of this canal on both panoramic radiography and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: The study consisted of panoramic radiographs and CBCT images from 262 patients. The course of the mandibular canal, as seen in panoramic radiographs, was classified into four types: linear, elliptical, spoon-shaped, and turning curves. The visibility of this canal from the first to the third molar region was evaluated by visually determining whether the mandibular canal was clearly visible, probably visible, or invisible. The visibihlity of the canal on panoramic radiographs was compared with that on CBCT images. Results: Elliptical curves were most frequently observed along the course of the mandibular canal. The percentage of clearly visible mandibular canals was the highest among the spoon-shaped curves and the lowest among the linear curves. On panoramic radiographs, invisible mandibular canals were found in 22.7% of the examined sites in the first molar region, 11.8% in the second molar region, and 1.3% in the third molar region. On CBCT cross-sectional images, the mandibular canal was invisible in 8.2% of the examined sites in the first molar region, 5.7% in the second molar region, and 0.2% in the third molar region. Conclusion: The visibility of this canal was lower in the first molar region than in the third molar region. The mandibular canal presented better visibility on CBCT images than on panoramic radiographs.

  • The most change in this century is supposed to be declination of ideology, and block of world economy. Addition to down full of cold war atmosphere around Northeast Asia, not only economic and social mood in this region is dramatically changed, but also it gave birth to the block of Northeast economy that accerlated new hub of world economy. According to dramatic change of economic surroundings the dynamic potential of growth in this region will be guided to enlarge inter-regional trade and increase volume of trade, thus suggests to grow steadily transportation. cargos in this region will have to arrange the system of delivery and inner transportation, accessary facilities, inter-regional harbors if North America and EC has connected easily. As have accerlated GATT and UR represented multilateralism and regionalism, it has regulated to increase trades of region due to relief of the trade barrier through specific areas has agreed with separately. The flow of regionalism of world economy has appeared to realize EC and NAFTA centered U.S.A, and also has presented to free trade region or one-size market agreement in Asia as APEC, EAEG in Malaysia, and etc. In defense to this block and internationalism of world economy, Pusan has to come forward to the hub of Northeast others has proposed a project to dominate the Northeast, Economy Association Agreement as Far East comprehensive development project in USSR, Hunchun development project in NK, and East Sea development project in PRC, Niigate regional development in Japan, Duman River development project in NK, and East Sea development project in Korea. As this exercise has proceed, Pusan also have arranged development strategy definitely and prepared provisions systematically. Engaging to participate center of delivery system is meant to be completed complex functions, namely the transfer storage processing & assembly function of international commodity. Pusan has ability to be terminal point of TSR. it had been connected to EC as the biggest economy block and TKR as complex transportation root to Far East, it would be the center of inground and seabase delivery terminal to Rotterdom as the biggest container pier and major piers to North-East and South East Asia. In order to provide a Role of 21 century's internationalization, Pusan has appealed to participate in management information research and development connected to Pohang-Ulsan-Changwon-Masan, and has utilized efficiently the resources such as man, material, money and information.
