As the hydrologic cycle is transformed by the expansion of impermeable area as a result of the urbanization, the function of an ecosystem is deteriorated by the transformed hydrologic cycle. In this study, a SWMM code was modified to have a groundwater pumping option about rivers-aquifer interaction to be possible. The modified SWMM was applied to continuous simulations of urban runoff from Hakuicheon watershed and it was used to analyse the effect of a groundwater pumping. The modified SWMM overcame the limitation of the ground subroutine that it only simulate groundwater inflow from ground to rivers. The result of continuous simulation of groundwater pumping is that surface runoff, groundwater runoff and groundwater level are well simulated, and Modified SWMM expressed groundwater runoff by negative number (-) when groundwater level is less than river stage.
Coastal aquifer in Muan, Jeonnam, has experienced heavy seawater intrusion caused by the extraction of a substantial amount of groundwater for the agricultural purpose throughout the year. It was observed that groundwater level dropped below sea level due to heavy pumping during a dry season, which could accelerate seawater intrusion. Therefore, water level needs to be monitored and managed to prevent further seawater intrusion. The purpose of this study is to develop the autoregressive-cross-regressive (ARCR) models that can predict the present or future groundwater level using its own previous values and pumping events. The ARCR model with pumping and water level data of the proceeding five hours (i.e., the model order of five) predicted groundwater level better than that of the model orders of ten and twenty. This was contrary to expectation that higher orders do increase the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) as a measure of the model's goodness. It was found that the ARCR model with order five was found to make a good prediction of next 48 hour groundwater levels after the start of pumping with $R^2$ higher than 0.9.
The validation of a groundwater source heat pump system installation site is estimated by bydrogeothermic model ing. The hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer system is evaluated from pumping and recovery tests. In addition, the temperature distribution by the pumping and the injection of groundwater, and water level fluctuations are simulated by numerical modeling. The total cooling and heating load for the building is designed as 120RT(refrigeration ton) and the ground water source heat pump system covers 50RT as a subsidiary system The scenario of heat pump operation is organized as pumping and inject ion of groundwater that is performed for 8 hours per day in cooling mode for 90 days during the summer season The heat transfer by the injected warm water is limited near the inject ion wells in the simulated temperature distribution. The reason is that the given operation time is too short to expect broad thermal diffusion in large volume of the aquifer in the simulation time The simulated groundwater level and temperature distribution can be used as important data to develope an energy effective pumping and injection well system. Also it will be very useful to evaluate the hydraulic capacity of a target groundwater reservoir.

This study uses time series analyses to evaluate fluctuation of water levels in a geothermal water well due to pumping, in relation to rainfall at Dongrae hot-spring site on the southeastern coast of tile Korean peninsula. The volume of water pumped from the public study wells ranges from 542 to 993 m$^3$/month, and the minimum water level ranged from 35 to 144.7 m during the measured period. Autocorrelation analysis was conducted for the withdrawal rate at the public wells, water levels and rainfall. The autocorrelation of the withdrawal rate shows distinct periodicity with 3 months of lag time, the autocorrelation of rainfall shows weak linearity and short memory with 1 months of lag time, and the autocorrelation of water levels shows weak linearity and short memory with 2 months of lag time. The cross-correlation between the pumping volume and the minimum water level shows a maximum value 1 at a delayed time of 34 months. The cross-correlation between rainfall and the minimum water level shows a maximum value of 0.39 at a delayed time of 32 months.

To provide required flow rates of cooling or circulating water properly, approach flow conditions of vertical pump systems should be in compliance with state of the art acceptance criteria. The direct inflow should be vortex free, with low pre-rotation and symmetric velocity distribution. Physical model investigations are common practice and the best tool of prediction to evaluate, to optimize and to document flow conditions inside intake structures for vertical pumping systems. Optimization steps should be accomplished with respect to installation costs and complexity on site. The report shows evaluation of various approach flow conditions inside a compact waste water pumping station. The focus is on the occurrence of free surface vortices and the evaluation of air entrainment for various water level and flow rates. The presentation of the results includes the description of the investigated intake structure, occurring flow problems and final recommendations.
This study shows the assessment methodology for the water resources of subsurface dams. The study area is SSangcheon subsurface dam. It is at the estuary of SSangcheon watershed forming the unconfined alluvial aquifer. there are several candidate area which are geologically similar to it at East coast. The groundwater level was computed by a 2-D FDM model, where the watershed discharge is the input as the infiltration term. The baseflow computed as the mean value of 3 watershed dischrge model is $0.5m^3/sec$. And considering the inflow near the baseflow as the dry season inflow, The groundwater level according to the change of inflow and pumping rate was computed. Specifically, Using the real pumping rate $28000m^3/day$ which is equal to the supply amount of drinking water to Sokcho city, The inflow which induce the descended groundwater level to the bottom of aquifer or the ascended groundwater level that cause the surface flow was eatimated. The simulation for increased pumping rate and additional well construction to increase the water resources, was executed. And at the extreme dry season, available pumping rate was estimated.

Seasonal fluctuation of groundwater level by pumping amount and stream discharge at the riverbank filtrate site adjacent to the Nakdong River in Daesan-Myeon was characterized. Groundwater level fluctuation shows increase in wet season (June, July, August and September) and decrease in dry season (the other months). Seasonal variation of pumping amount shows similar trend to the groundwater fluctuation due to higher consumption of potable water in summer. The relation of specific capacity, Nakdong River and pumping quantity was analyzed. The logarithmic relationship between specific capacity and the stream discharge gives high correlation coefficient, 0.96. This fact indicates that the increase of stream discharge rate reduces the rate of drawdown in the pumping area in wet season.
We evaluated the results of pumping tests, the amount of groundwater used by Protected Cultivation with Water Curtain (PCWC), and monthly depth to water table (DTW) at the Wangjeon-ri area, Nonsan City, to elucidate the cause of a decrease in pumping rate during the winter PCWC season. The transmissivity and storage coefficient at eight sites where the major aquifer is alluvium, vary from 119.9 to $388.1m^2/d$ and $1.5{\times}10^{-4}$ to $5.5{\times}10^{-4}$, respectively. The pumping rate for PCWC during three months (Dec. to Feb.) averaged about $8,100m^3/d$ and the maximum water level in the area varied by about 10 m. Groundwater levels had fully recovered by August-five months after pumping for PCWC had ceased. These observations indicate that the pumping rate during the winter PCWC season was excessive compared with groundwater productivity in the area. Groundwater level in the central PCWC area varied from -3.0 to 4.38 m, exceeding the water level of the Nosung Stream for only three months (Aug. to Oct.). This result indicates that Nosung Stream recharges the area during the period from November to July. To solve the problem of reduced pumping rate during the winter PCWC season, it would be necessary to reduce the amount of groundwater used for PCWC or to develop an artificial recharge system using recycled groundwater.
To prevent the drying-out of streams and to make effective use of stream water and groundwater, it is necessary to evaluate the impact of groundwater pumping on nearby streams. To this end, stream depletion due to groundwater pumping should be investigated in terms of various hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer and stream. This study used the Baalousha analytical solution, which accounts for stream-stage variation over time, to analyze stream depletion due to groundwater pumping for cases where the stream level decreases exponentially and recovers after the decrease. For conditions such as an aquifer transmissivity of 10~100 ㎡ d-1, storage coefficient 0.05~0.3, streambed hydraulic conductance 0.1~1.0 m d-1, stream-well distance 100~500 m, and stage recession coefficient 0.1~1.0 d-1, the contribution of stream water (the dimensionless ratio of stream water reduction rate to groundwater pumping rate) was analyzed in cases where stream level change was considered. Considering the effect of stream-stage recession, the contribution of stream water is greatly reduced and is less affected by the stream-depletion factor, which is a function of the stream-to-well distance and hydraulic diffusivity. However, there is no significant difference in stream depletion under constant- and variable-stage recovery after recession. These results indicate that stream level control can distribute the relative impacts on stream water and aquifer storage during groundwater pumping
This paper presents a water level control method using Z-80 microcomputer. The process considered in this paper is one tank system which is described by an unknown nonlinear differential equation. The water level is measured by the end of bar installed at a float passing through 8 pair of photointerrupters located at equal distance. Therefore, the input data to 8255 which is interface between Z-80 and photointerrupters is discrete value, namely, value under 1. values from 1 to 8, and value upper 8. The water is pumped into the tank from a reservoir by switching on a relay connected to a moter and pump driving system. The pumping is stopped by switching off the relay. Experimental studies for two types of controllers are performed in order to investigate the control performance of water level of the water pumping system.
