Effects of Duty Cycle and Pulse Frequency on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of TiAlN Coatings (듀티 싸이클 및 펄스 주파수가 TiAlN 코팅막의 미세구조와 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the effects of pulse plasma parameters such as duty cycle and pulse frequency on the properties of TiAlN coatings deposited by asymmetric bipolar pulsed DC magnetron sputtering systems. The results show that, with decreasing duty cycle and increasing pulse frequency, the coating morphology changes from a columnar structure to a dense structure with finer grains. Pulsed sputtered TiAlN coatings showed higher hardness, higher residual stress, and smaller grain sizes than did DC prepared TiAlN coatings. Moreover, residual stress and nanoindentation hardness of pulsed sputtered TiAlN coatings increased with increasing pulse frequency. Meanwhile, the surface roughness decreased continuously with increasing pulsed DC frequency up to 50 kHz.

  • SiN 박막을 Pulsed-PECVD를 이용하여 증착하였다. 박막특성으로는 굴절률, 플라즈마의 특성으로는 이온 에너지 분포를 duty ratio의 함수로 분석하였다. 50-100%의 범위에서 duty ratio의 감소에 따라 고 이온 에너지는 크게 증가하였으며, 반대로 저 이온 에너지는 감소되었다. 굴절률은 duty ratio의 감소에 따라 증가되었으며, 모든 duty ratio의 변화에서 1.75-1.81 사이에서 변화하였다. 40-90%의 duty ratio에서 저 이온 에너지 플럭스보다 고 이온 에너지 플럭스가 높았다. 한편, 굴절률의 변화는 $N_h$의 변화에 가장 밀접하게 연관되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Pulsed laser surface modification for heat treatment and nano-texturing on biometal surface

  • The laser surface modification has been reported for its functional applications for improving tribological performance, wear resistance, hardness, and corrosion property. In most of these applications, continuous wave lasers and pulsed lasers were used for surface melting, cladding, alloying. Since flexibility in processing, refinement of microstructure and controlling the surface properties, technology utilizing lasers has been used in a number of fields. Especially, femtosecond laser has great benefits compared with other lasers because its pulsed width is much shorter than characteristic time of thermal diffusion, which leads to diminish heat affected zone. Moreover, laser surface engineering has been highlighted as an effective tool for micro/nano structuring of materials in the bio application field. In this study, we applied femtosecond and nanosecond pulsed laser to treat biometals, such as Mg, Mg alloy, and NiTi alloy, by heating to improve corrosion properties and functionalize their surface controlling cell response as implantable biomedical devices.

Heat Transfer Analysis of the Opaque Solid Heated by Pulsed Laser (Pulsed Laser에 의하여 가열되는 불투명 고체의 열전달 해석)

  • 재료의 표면을 pulsed laser로 가열할 때, 유한한 두께를 가지는 반무한 평판의 온도분포를 해석하여 열확산계수, 재료의 두께, 열원의 주기, 그리고 열원의 반경이 온도분포에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. Pulsed laser에 의하여 가열되는 불투명 고체의 시간에 따른 온도는 전체적으로 증가하지만 열원의 주기와 동일한 주기를 가지고 일정한 온도차를 가지는 전체온도와 평균온도의 차, Tac가 존재한다. 열확산계수가 증가하면 재료 내부로 에너지의 확산이 활발하기 때문에 Tac는 커진다. 재료의 두께가 열확산길이보다 얇은 경우에는 두께변화에 따라서 온도가 민감하게 변하지만, 열확산길이보다 재료의 두께가 두꺼울 때는 두께의 변화에 관계없이 거의 일정한 온도가 나타난다. 열원의 단속주파수가 증가하면 한 주기당 에너지가 작아지므로 Tac의 크기는 작아진다. 열원의 반경이 커지면 단위면적당 에너지가 감소하므로 Tac의 크기는 삼각파, 싸인파, 사각파 순으로 크게 나타난다. 따라서 열원의 파형을 측정하여 이를 적용하는 것이 바람직하다.

  • Ferroelectric random acess memories (FeRAMs) 재료로 주목받고 있는 강유전 물질은 이미 여러 해 전부터 많은 물질들에 대해 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그 중 낮은 공정 온도를 가지며 큰 remanent polarization 값을 갖는 lead zirconium titanate (PZT) 박막에 대해 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 하지만 Pt 기판위에 증착된 PZT 박막은 높은 피로 현상을 보이는 문제가 있다. 최근 Pulsed laser deposition이나 metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) 등의 방법에 의해 epitaxial substituted-$Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ (La, Nd) 박막에 대해 보고가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 높은 remanent polarization 값을 갖는 $(Bi,Ce)_4Ti_3O_{12}$ (BCT) 박막을 pulsed laser deposition 방법을 사용하여 증착하였다. 또한 Bismuth의 양을 변화시켜 Bismuth의 양에 따른 remanent polarization의 변화를 확인하여 보았다. 사용된 기판은 Pt/$TiO_2$/$SiO_2$/Si 기판을 사용하였다.

  • Equivalent series impedance of high-voltage pulsed power capacitor is one of the important electrical characteristics both for users and for capacitor manufacturers because it may have serious effects on the performance of pulse forming circuits. In this paper, definition of equivalent series impedance and factors which generate equivalent series impedance are reviewed. Theoretical analysis for the calculation of equivalent series impedance based on differential measurement method is described and calculation program has been developed. In order to acquire data which are necessary to calculate equivalent series impedance from discharging current waveform, charging-dischargig controller has been manufactured. Measurement results of equivalent series impedance for high voltage pulsed power capacitor have been given.

Study on Characteristics of Micro Patterned Copper Electrodeposition according to Parameters in Laser Beam Machining (레이저빔 가공 인자에 따른 구리도금 미세 패터닝 특성 연구)

  • This paper proposes a fabrication process of deposited layer with micro patterns that uses a combination of a pulsed laser beam machining and an electrodeposition. This process consists of the electrodeposition and the laser beam machining. The deposited layer on metal can be selectively eliminated by laser ablation. As a result, the deposited layer with micro patterns can be fabricated without a mask. The characteristics of the deposited layer on stainless steel were investigated according to the average power and marking speed in the pulsed laser beam machining. The optimal laser beam conditions for precise micro patterning of the deposited layer were determined. Finally, the deposited copper layer with micro text was successfully fabricated by the pulsed laser beam machining.

  • This paper proposes a battery model applicable to Autonomie environment. Also, a various of experiment is implemented for validation. The proposed battery model modifies Randles equivalent circuit and battery parameters are extracted from pulsed current tests. The parameters are two-dimensional function of current and SOC(State of Charge). The battery model is developed in the Matlab/Simulink and is implemented for NiMH Panasonic HHR650D and compared with pulsed current discharge curves. The simulation results validate the accuracy of the proposed model and the model is also tested by adding it on Autonomie for HEV application. Constant current charge/discharge, pulsed current test that can be used to extract battery parameter are performed and test results are used to build up the proposed battery model for Autonomie.

  • The support bearing requires high DN to raise specific energy efficiency for the state of the art rotating machine with high speed. Especially for the system has a big rotor(670 kgf) with high speed(about one million DNs) such as the pulsed generator, the selection of the bearing and lubrication method are very important. So the study for the critical speed of hollow rotor as well in accordance with high speed rotor and a full analysis are needed for rotor bearing system. This paper describes the analysis for rotor bearing system of pulsed generator compared with experimental data. The bearing and lubrication method are discussed as well with experimental data.

NO Removal Efficiency by Pulsed Corona Discharge Process at Room Temperature (상온 펄스 코로나 방전 공정에 의한 NO 제거 효율)

  • In this study, we analyzed the NO removal efficiency by the pulsed corona discharge process and investigated the effects of several process variables such as initial concentrations of NO, $H_2O$, and NH$_3$, applied voltage, pulse frequency, diameter of the discharge electrode, and residence time. The removal efficiency of NO increased by the addition of $H_2O$ or NH$_3$, but the changes of initial NH$_3$ and $H_2O$ concentrations did not affect the removal efficiency of NO significantly. With the increases of the applied voltage or the residence time, the removal efficiency of NO increased. In addition, with the increases of the pulse frequency of applied voltage, or the diameter of the discharge electrode, the removal efficiency of NO increased. The experimental results can be used as a basis to design the pulsed corona discharge process to remove NO$_{x}$, SO$_{x}$ and VOCs.OCs.
