  • In this study, a reduction method of leakage current in a three-level photovoltaic power-conditioning system (PCS) is proposed and verified by simulation and experiment. Leakage current generation is analyzed through an equivalent model of the common mode voltage considering a significant parasitic capacitance existing between the photovoltaic array and ground. A leakage current reduction method using pulse-width modulation (PWM) method is also proposed, and a 10-kW three-level photovoltaic PCS simulation and experiment is performed with a $1{\mu}F$ parasitic capacitor based on 100 nF/kW. The proposed method using the PWM method is verified to reduce the leakage current by 73% compared with the conventional PWM method.

  • The transient numerical analysis was performed for vapor cooled current leads. The present numerical modeling considered that there is temperature difference between the copper lead and the helium vapor flow. This numerical modeling was compensated and validated by the experiment with commercially available 100 A current leads. The numerical modeling in this paper described thermal characteristics of overloaded current leads more accurately than the conventional steady state analysis. Proper design of overloaded current leads was suggested by indicating the appropriate overloading factor in the pulse mode operation.

  • We investigate the influence of individual properties of piezoceramics such as elastic, dielectric, piezoelectric constants, and the coupling factor on the performance of the transducer operating in thickness mode oscillation. The investigation employs equivalent circuit analysis techniques. Appropriate transfer functions are obtained and discussed which suggest optimum selection guides of piezoelectric ceramics for each purpose, i.e. a transmitter, a receiver, and a pulse-echo transducer. The guides can help ceramic scientists find the direction to proceed in new material development.

  • This paper deals with the operation analysis of the half-bridge parallel-resonant converter with P.W.M. control. The converter operates at fixed frequency, in the continuous and discontinuous current mode. A simplified theorectical steady-state analysis is developed and the converter characteristics are presented.

  • We had experimental studies of microwave output generator. We experimented with a corrugate-shped K-band slow wave guide in the backward wave oscillator. It generated output 표 interaction between electron beam's generation and magnetic field. We estimated oscillation frequency at 24GHz by changing propagation velocity and group velocity. We identified movement by second harmonic of Cherencov interaction and slow cyclotron mode. In our study we achieved oscillation stabilization, generation of long pulse, improvement of oscillation efficiency and output.

  • We made an optimization effort on driving waveforms for the Quantized Memory Addressing (QMA) in selective write mode of operation. It was necessary to add long ramp type erase pulses after the total write pulse and the sustain period to obtain stable intermediate luminance discharges. Furthermore, fast rising ramp type total write as well as two step addressing scheme were adopted for better discharge stability.

  • In this paper, a multiple pulse-width modulated ac chopper mode power controller using power transistor is described. The controller is capable of handling up to 1/2 hp of power at any lagging load power factor angle and getting the optimal efficiency operating characteristics. The development, study, and experimental evaluation of the controller with induction motor load is described.

  • Dual converter using diode bridge and 6-thyristor is discussed and the characteristics of this converter depending on their switching mode is revealed. The switching modes of converter operation are identified on both ac and dc sides. The circuit has the ability to accept or deliver DC current without change of nominal DC voltage magnitude or polarity and has the capability not only to instantaneously change from motoring to generating and vice versa, but to operate cycloconverter.
