  • In this paper, traction system for urban transit maglev system is proposed. Using vector control strategy to control magnitude and frequency of output voltage transiently is general. But in case of traction system for railway vehicle, it is impossible that adapt vector control because there is one-pulse mode in a high speed region. So this paper proposes the control strategy using vector control in a low speed region and slip frequency control in a high speed region. And also proposes overmodulation method that makes to change in one-pulse mode softly. The performance of traction system will be verified by simulation results using ACSL.

The operation principle of this high frequency inverter is described using switching modes and equivalent circuits. This newly developed series resonant high frequency inverter can regulate its high frequency output AC power under a principle of constant frequency active edge resonant soft- switching commutation by asymmetrical PWM control system. The high frequency power regulation and actual power conversion efficiency characteristics of consumer induction heating (IH) products using the proposed soft-switching pulse width modulation (PWM) series load resonant high frequency inverter evaluated. The practical effectiveness and operating performance of high frequency inverter are discussion on the basis of simulation and experimental results as compared with the conventional soft-switching high frequency inverter.

  • In this paper, we propose a new exponential pulse shaping function based on Chebychev identity equation and Bessel coefficients. The proposed pulse shaping function can produce various pulses with the different characteristics in the time and frequency domain by changing its two parameters. By differentiating the exponential pulse shaping function, we obtain new different pulse functions, in which the even order derivatives of the exponential pulse shaping function are orthogonal to its odd order derivatives. To find the efficiency of the proposed exponential pulse shaping function we analyze its essential characteristics and compare them with those of the conventional Gaussian pulses. We can choose the most suitable exponential pulse waveform according to the design criteria of communication systems.

  • The Korean Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) tokamak device is being constructed to perform long-pulse, high-beta, advanced tokamak fusion physics experiments. The long-pulse operation requires the non-inductive current drive system such as the Lower-Hybrid Current Drive (LHCD) system. The LHCD system drives the non-inductive plasma current by means of C-band RF with 2-MW CW power and 5-GHz frequency. For the LHCD test experiments, an RF test system is developed. It is composed of a 5-GHz, 1.5-MW pulsed magnetron and a compact pulse modulator with $4\;{\mu}s$ of pulse width. The pulse modulator provides the maximum output voltage of 45 kV and the maximum current of 90 A. It is composed of 7 stages of Pulse Forming Network (PFN), a thyratron tube (E2V, CX1191D), and a pulse transformer with 1:4 step-up ratio. In this paper, the detailed design and the performance test of the pulse modulator are presented.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between pulse types measured by pulse analyzer and several factors including smoking, drinking alcohol, exercises etc. Methods: The subjects were 71 persons who were tested by oriental health examination. A self-reported questionnaire was used to gather age, smoking, drinking alcohol, exercise state and gender. The pulse types were measured by DMP 1000. The index of stress and fatigue were measured by SA 3000. We analyzed the frequency of pulse types according to gender, ages, smoking, drinking alcohol etc by chi-square test with SPSS ver. 19.0. Results: In the main pulse types, there were significant differences according to age(p<0.05) and marginal differences according to drinking alcohol(p<0.1). In the secondary pulse types, there were marginal differences according to exercise, ages. But there was no significant differences according to gender, smoking, body mass index (BMI), accelerated photoplethysmography (APG) feature, stress and fatigue. Conclusions: This study suggests that the pulse types are affected by drinking alcohol, ages, exercise.

  • The baseline flattened NMR spectrum has been achieved by several methodologies including pulse manipulation with a series of phase cycling. The background signal inherent in the probe is also main source of baseline distortion both in solution and solid NMR. The simple direct polarization with 90° pulse flipping the magnetization from the z-axis onto the receiver coil requires the strong rf pulse enough to encompass the wide frequency range to excite the resonance of interest nuclei. Albeit the perfect polarization 90° pulse, the signal from the unwanted magnetic fields such as background signal can not be completely suppressed by suitable phase cycling. Moreover, slowly baseline wiggling signal from the low 𝛾 nuclei is not easy to eliminate with multiple pulse manipulation. So there is still need to contrive the new scheme for that purpose in an adroit manner. In this article new triple pulse excitation schemes for TIP and modified DEPTH pulse sequence are analytically examined in terms of arbitrary phase and flip angle of pulse. The suitable phase cycling for these pulse trains is necessary for the good sensitivity and resolution of the spectrum. It is observed that the 13C sensitivity TIP experiment is almost equal to the CP/MAS with modified DEPTH sequence, both of which are applicable to both solid and solution state NMR.

  • This paper describes a new dc-ac inverter system which for achieving sinusoidal ac waveform makes use of parallel loaded high frequency resonant inverter consisting of full bridge. Each one of the pair of switches in the inverter is driven to synchronous output frequency and the other is driven to PWM signal with resonant frequency proportional to magnitude of sine wave. A forced discontinuous conduction mode is used to realize the quasi-sinusoidal pulse in each switching period. Therefore the inverter generates sinusoidal modulated output voltage including carrier frequency that is resonant frequency. Carrier frequency components of modulated output voltage is filtered by low pass filter. Since current through switches is always zero at its turn-on in the proposed inverter, low stress and low switching loss is achieved. Operating characteristics of the proposed system is analyzed in per unit system using computer simulation. The output voltage of if includes low harmonics and it is almost close to sine wave. Also, the theoretical analysis is proved through the experimental test.

  • We investigated the effects of acupuncture stimulation on pulse wave variables and heart rate variability (HRV) in healthy adults. To evaluate twenty healthy volunteers (10 men, 10 women) had acupuncture into both Hapkok (Ll4) and Taechung (Liv3) for 15 minutes. Radial pulse, Heart Rate Variability, body temperature and blood pressure were checked before and after acupuncture to evaluate Pulse Wave Variability and Autonomous Function. The results were as follows; Heart rate was significantly increased while systolic blood pressure (mmHg) and diastolic blood pressure (mmHg) were significantly increased after acupuncture treatment. Sixteen subjects didn't change representative pulse wave variables after acupuncture treatment. Energy, height of main peak (H1), height of pre-dicrotic valley (H2) and height of descending valley (H4) were decreased while height of dicrotic peak (H5) was significantly decreased after acupuncture treatment. Time to main peak (T1), time to pre-dicrotic valley (T2), time to dicrotic peak (T5), total time (T) and T-T4 were decreased while time to descending valley (T4) was increased after acupuncture treatment. Total area (At), area of main peak (Aw) and ratio of diastolic period area (Ad) were decreased while ratio of systolic period area (As) and angle of main peak (MPA) were increased after acupuncture treatment. The standard deviation of all normal RR intervals (SDNN) was increased while the root mean square of successive differences between the normal heart beats (RMSSD) was significantly increased after acupuncture treatment by time domain analysis. Low frequency power (LF) and LF/HF ratio were decreased while high frequency power (HF) was significantly increased after acupuncture treatment by frequency domain analysis. This study suggests that acupuncture treatment changes pulse wave variability and heart rate variability. Further study on various acupuncture treatment for pulse wave variability and heart rate variability is required.
