Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) is mostly used as a current-insulating medium in gas-insulated switchgears (GIS), owing to its excellent dielectric strength and arc-extinguishing performance. The global warming potential (GWP) of SF6, however, is 23,900 times that of CO2, and its life time in the atmosphere is 3,200 years. For these reasons, new eco-friendly gases to replace SF6 are required. In this study, the partial discharge (PD) characteristics of green gas for grid (g3) and dry air (N2/O2) were analyzed to compare with those of SF6. A PD electrode system was designed to simulate the protrusion defect in GISs and fabricated for experimentation. To compare the PD characteristics of each gas, the discharge inception voltage (DIV), discharge extinction voltage (DEV), discharge magnitude, discharge pulse number, and phase pattern were analyzed. Results from this study are expected to provide fundamental materials for the design of eco-friendly GISs.
Under the hostile influence of the extreme space environmental conditions due to the deep space and direct solar flux, the thermal control in space applications is especially of major importance. There are tight temperature range restrictions for electro-optical elements while on the other hand there are low power consumption requirements due to the limited energy sources on the spacecraft. So, we usually have strong requirement of thermal and power control module in space applications. In this paper, the design concept of a thermal and power control module in the MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) system which will be a payload on KOMPSATII is described in terms of H/W & S/W. This thermal and power control module, called THTM(Thermal and Telemetry Module) in MSC, resides inside the PMU(Payload Management Unit) which is responsible for the proper management of the MSC payload for controlling and monitoring the temperature insides the EOS(Electro-Optic System) and gathering all the analog telemetry from all the MSC sub-units, etc. Particularly, the designed heater controller has the special mode of "duty cycle" in addition to normal closed loop control mode as usual. THTM controls heaters in open loop according to on/off set time designed through analysis in duty cycle mode in case of all thermistor failure whereas it controls heaters by comparing the thermistor value to temperature based on closed loop in normal mode. And a designed THTM provides a checking and protection method against the failure in thermal control command using the test pulse in command itself.

We have developed new electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices with, bidirectional flip chip transient voltage suppression. The devices differ in their epitaxial (epi) layers, which were grown by reduced pressure chemical vapor deposition (RPCVD). Their ESD properties were characterized using current-voltage (I-V), capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurement, and ESD analysis, including IEC61000-4-2, surge, and transmission line pulse (TLP) methods. Two BD-FCTVS diodes consisting of either a thick (12 μm) or thin (6 μm), n-Si epi layer showed the same reverse voltage of 8 V, very small reverse current level, and symmetric I-V and C-V curves. The damage found near the corner of the metal pads indicates that the size and shape of the radius governs their failure modes. The BD-FCTVS device made with a thin n- epi layer showed better performance than that made with a thick one in terms of enhancement of the features of ESD robustness, reliability, and protection capability. Therefore, this works confirms that the optimization of device parameters in conjunction with the doping concentration and thickness of epi layers be used to achieve high performance ESD properties.
Purpose: Most of the patients who underwent surgery feels variable kinds of fear or anxiety; an uncomfortable mood state that happens without specific object affects patient's satisfaction before and after the surgery. As music therapy is rather noninvasive method generally used in reducing patient's anxiety, the authors researched about the extent of anxiety with the change of vital sign before the operation while comparing with the cases of patients who took the music therapy at closed reduction under general anesthesia. Method: We divided the patients in 4 groups; A with the premedication (Midazolam, Dormicum$^{(R)}$) before the operation, B with the premedication and music therapy, C with only music therapy, D with no premedication or therapy. And we measured the vital signs after the arrival at the operation room, after induction and 20 minutes after the operation. Also we observed the changes of anxiety index with the STAI (State Trait Anxiety Inventory)-K (Korea)YZ 1 hour before and 8 hours after the surgery. Result: The group B showed the least changes in blood pressure as the group D showed the highest change. Both group C and A showed increase in blood pressure but the upswing in group A was lower than group C. At the change of pulse rate group B showed the lowest upswing also group D showing the highest. Group B showed quite a few upswing but lower than group D, but, at the same time, group A showed lower upswing when comparing two cases. After analysis of STAI-KYZ score, the anxiety relatively decreased in group B and C in comparison with group D. And the index of anxiety state of group A showed just as much to group D. Conclusion: The music therapy is better healthcare method compared to other therapies in reducing anxiety also with satisfying effect who underwent operation. The authors recommend music therapy assisted with use of premedication for better relief of anxiety.
The various environmental issues arose with the development of today's economy. naturally, people were increased interest in environment and the importance of research on drinking water and contamination are emerging especially. A number of country areas, uranium and 222Rn in ground water have been detected to people using as drinking water. So this study evaluated the way for more accurate measurements than when measuring 222Rn concentrations in the ground water containing. the experiment was performed using the low-level liquid scintillation counter with an alpha, beta analysis easy PSA function of pulse. the scintillator as the preparation of the ground water samples are mixed, the measure value detection is lowered over prepare period and expiration date. Energy spectrum was also moved to a lower side channel. As a long time to buy the scintillator and over time after opening, it was confirmed that detection is lowered. if the purpose is to use a different scintillator can see the energy through the channel change.
In acute uncomplicated falciparum malaria, there is a continuum from mild to severe malaria. However, no mathematical system is available to predict uncomplicated falciparum malaria patients turning to severe malaria. This study aimed to devise a simple and reliable model of Malaria Severity Prognostic Score (MSPS). The study was performed in adult patients with acute uncomplicated falciparum malaria admitted to the Bangkok Hospital for Tropical Diseases between 2000 and 2005. Total 38 initial clinical parameters were identified to predict the usual recovery or deterioration to severe malaria. The stepwise multiple discriminant analysis was performed to get a linear discriminant equation. The results showed that 4.3% of study patients turned to severe malaria. The MSPS = 4.38 (schizontemia) + 1.62 (gametocytemia) + 1.17 (dehydration) + 0.14 (overweight by body mass index; BMI) + 0.05 (initial pulse rate) + 0.04 (duration of fever before admission)-0.50 (past history of malaria in last 1 year). 0.48 (initial serum albumin)-5.66. Based on the validation study in other malaria patients, the sensitivity and specificity were 88.8% and 88.4%, respectively. We conclude that the MSPS is a simple screening tool for predicting uncomplicated falciparum malaria patients turning to severe malaria. However, the MSPS may need revalidation indifferent geographical areas before utilized at specific places.
The RAD4 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is essential for the incision step of UV-induced excision repair. A yeast RAD4 gene has been previously isolated by functional complementation. In order to identify the RAD4 homologous gene from fungus Coprinus cinereus, we have constructed cosmid libraries from electrophoretically separated chromosomes of the C. cinereus. The 13 C. cinereus chromosomes were resolved by pulse-field gel electrophoresis, hybridized with S. cerevisiae RAD4 DNA, and then isolated homologous C. cinereus chromosome. The insert DNA of the RAD4 homolog was contained 3.2 kb. Here, we report the characterization of fungus C. cinereus homolog of yeast RAD4 gene. Southern blot analysis confirmed that C. cinereus contains the RAD4 homolog gene and this gene exists as a single copy in C. cinereus genome. When total RNA isolated from C. cinereus cells was hybridized with the 1.2 kb PvuII DNA fragment of the S. cerevisiae RAD4 gene, a 2.5 kb of transcript was detected. In order to investigation whether the increase of transcripts by DNA damaging agent, transcripts levels were examined after treating the cells. The level of transcript did not increase by untraviolet light (UV). This result indicated that the RAD4 homologous gene is not UV inducible gene. Gene deletion experiments indicate that the RAD4 homologous gene is essential for cell viability.

A phased array is a multi-element piezoelectric device whose elements are individually excited by electric pulses at programmed delay time. One of the advantages of using phased array in nondestructive evaluation (NDE) application over conventional ultrasonic transducers is their great maneuverability of ultrasonic beam. There are some parameters such as the number and the size of the piezoelectric elements and the inter-element spacing of the elements to design phased array transducer. In this study, the characteristic of ultrasonic beam for phased array transducer due to the variation of the number of elements has been simulated for ultrasonic SH-wave on the basis of Huygen's principle. Ultrasonic beam directivity and focusing due to the change of time delay of each element were discussed due to the change of the number of piezoelectric elements. It was found that ultrasonic beam was much more spreaded and hence its sound pressure was decreased as steering angle of ultrasonic beam was increased. In addition, the ability of ultrasonic bean focusing decreased gradually with the increase of focal length at the same piezoelectric elements. However, the ability of beam focusing was improved as the number of consisting elements was increased.

Healthcare is a field where ubiquitous computing is most widely used. We propose a mining-based healthcare multi-agent system for ubiquitous computing environments. This proposed scheme select diagnosis patterns using mining in the real-time biosignal data obtained from a patient's body. In addition, we classify them into normal, emergency and be ready for an emergency. This proposed scheme can deal with the enormous quantity of real-time sensing data and performs analysis and comparison between the data of patient's history and the real-time sensory data. We separate Association rule exploration into two data groups: one is the existing enormous quantity of medical history data. The other group is real-time sensory data which is collected from sensors measuring body temperature, blood pressure, pulse. Proposed system has advantage that can handle urgent situation in the far away area from hospital through PDA and mobile device. In addition, by monitoring condition of patient in a real time base, it shortens time and expense and supports medical service efficiently.
The cutaneous stimulation is an independent nursing intervention used in various painful conditions, and is explained by gate control theory. This study was aimed at identifying the effect of cutaneous stimulation on reduction of arteriovenous fistula puncture pain of hemodialysis patients. One group repeated measurement post test research was designed. Forty-five hemodialysis patients who received arteriovenous fistula puncture regulary in hemodialysis units of an attacted D hospital to K university have been studied from August 16 to 21, 1993. First the arteriovenous fistula puncture pain of control period was measured, and then the arteriovenous fistula puncture pain of experimental period(with cutaneous stimulation) was measured. The instrument used for this study were visual analogue pain scale as subjective pain measurement, objective pain behavior checklist and Spielberger's Trait Anxiety Inventory as intervening variables. Analysis of data was done by use of paired t-test, t-test, ANOVA and Perarson correlation coefficient. The results of this study were summarized as follows; 1) The first hypothesis that the subjective pain score of arteriovenous fistula puncture pain in experimental period(with cutaneous stimulation) will be lower than in control period was partly supported. The subjective pain score of arterial line was rejected(paired t=-0.28, p=0.77) and the subjective pain score of venous line was supported(paired t=2.61, p=0.01). 2) The second hypothesis that the objective pain behavior score of arteriovenous fistula pain in experimental period(with cutaneous stimulation) will be lower than in control period was rejected(arterial line paired t=-0.45, p=0.65; venous line paired t=-0.36, p=0.72). 3) The third hypothesis that the cardiopulmonary signs of arteriovenous fistula puncture pain in experimental period(with cutaneous stimulation) will be lower than in control period was rejected(pulse paired t=-0.8, p=0.42; systolic BP paired t=0.98, p=0.33; diastolic BP paired t=0.43, p=0.66). Further experimental studies with simple intravenous injection patients will be recommended in order to identify the effect of cutaneous stimulation.
