Screw piles(Helical piles and anchors) are increasingly used to support and rehabilitate reinforced structures subjected to both tensile and compressive axial loads. This study presents a variety of detailed investigation on especially pull-out characteristics of screw piles performed to both reduced scale and numerical analysis to identify fundamental failure mechanisms and empirical optimized geometry of screw piles. It was found that the pull-out characteristics of screw piles are influenced with mainly different frequencies of compaction around soil and screw pile's pitch and followings are practical data based on empirical analysis.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate tensile performance of cementitious composites reinforced with steel fiber. The tensile performance of steel fiber reinforced cementitious composites is related to the tensile performance of reinforced fiber, and depends on the fracture or pull-out of fiber. Therefore, the tensile performance was compared and analyzed by conducting a direct tensile test on the tensile specimens of cementitious composites reinforced with hook-type steel fiber and amorphous steel fiber.

Since non-corrosive Fiber Reinforced Polymer(FRP) tendons have been in increasing use for underground and coastal structures constantly contacted with fresh water or sea water because of their superiority to metallic ones in corrosion-resistance, new non-metallic anchoring system for FRP tendons has been developed and investigated to verify the effectiveness of tendon force, which consist of mainly FRP pipes and Highly Expansive Mortar(HEM). The major factors considered in this experiment were expansive pressures of HEM during its hydration, sleeve lengths and types, and anchoring methods of tendon. New anchoring system were investigated from the pull-out tests. The pull-out procedures of the FRP tendons in the various pipe filled with HEM were analyzed and improved ideas were suggested to develop novel non-metallic anchoring system for FRP tendons The pull-out tests for the FRP tendon and new non-metallic anchoring system were conducted. The results show that non-metallic anchoring system for the FRP tendon has been more stablized due to the gradual expansive pressrure of HEM, as tims goes. Since tile lower stiffness of FRP pipes causes the weakness of anchoring force, it requires the increase of stiffness using a carbon fiber or an increased section area.

Implemented power amplifier is shows 25watt(44dBm), PAE of 66-76% characteristics in the frequency band of 2.7-3.1 GHz.
Adhesion tests were carried out in order to investigate the effect of temperature on the adhesion behavior between a PMMA film and a fused silica lens in the micro scale. For the tests, a microtribometer system was specially designed and constructed. The pull-off forces on the PMMA film were measured under atmospheric condition as the temperature of the PMMA film was increased from 300 K to 443 K and decreased to 300 K. The contact area between the PMMA film and the lens was observed during the test. The adhesion behavior was changed with the change of the PMMA surface state as the temperature increased. In glassy state below 363 K, the pull-off force did not change with the increase of temperature. In rubbery state from 383 K to 413 K, the pull-off force increased greatly as the temperature increased. In addition, the area of contact was enlarged. In viscous state above 423 K, the fingering instability was observed in the area of contact when the PMMA film contacted with the lens. It was also found that the adhesion behavior can be varied with the thermal history of the PMMA film. The residual solvent in the PMMA film could emerge to the PMMA surface due to the heating and reduced the pull-off force.

Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) rods provide certain benefits over steel as concrete reinforcement, such as corrosion resistance, magnetic and electrical insulation, light weight, and high strength. FRP composites can be combined with a steel core to form hybrid reinforcing rods that take advantage of properties of both materials. The objective of this study was to characterize the bond behavior of hybrid FRP rods made with braided epoxy-impregnated aramid or poly-vinyl alcohol FRP skins. Eleven rod types were tested using two concrete strengths. Specific topics examined were bond strength, slip, and type of failure in concentric pull-out tests from concrete cubes. From analysis of identical pull-out tests on both hybrid and steel rods, information on relative bond strength and behavior were obtained. It is concluded that strength is similar but slip in hybrid rods is much higher. Hybrid rods failed either by pull-out or splitting the concrete block (with or without yielding of the steel core). Experimental data showed consistency with similar test results presented in the literature.
Purpose This study aims to investigate the factors that influence switching intention of Smart Appliances. We focuses on Push-Pull-Mooring theory and status quo bias as factors related to switching behavior. Design/methodology/approach This study developed an model to explain the switching intention of Smart Appliances and conducted structural equation modeling with AMOS22.0. To test the proposed hypotheses, we collected 319 survey responses from smart appliances's users. Findings The results indicated that low usefulness and low ease of use had an effect on the switching intention of smart appliances. The results also indicated that attractiveness of the alternative and social norms had an effect on the switching intention of smart appliances. Lastly, The difference between the relation of push effect and switching intention and the relation of pull effect and switching intention was found to be due to the level of status quo bias. The academic and managerial implications were discussed based on the results of empirical analysis.
In order to assess the possibility of using steel fibers in the fissured ciays, uniaxial compression tests were performed on both unreinforced and reinforced clay samples containing a pre-existing crack. Test results showed that the steel fiber reinforcement increased resistance to cracks initiation and their propagation, and therefore increased both stress at crack growth initiation and peak stress at failure. The increase in resistance to cracks initiation and their propagation was related to the arresting or deflecting the crack propagation in clay samples by steel fibers. A theoretical interpretation of experimental results was made using fracture mechanics theory and pull-out mechanisms in fiber reinforced materials. It was revealed that the steel fibers had bridging effect through their pull-out action that caused an increased resistance to the propagation of the cracks in the samples. The predicted pull-out force based on theoretical analyses agreed reasonably well with the measured values obtained from pull-out tests.
To enhance the control efficacy against cockroaches in dwelling space, repellent ("Push") was set down on one comer and a poison bait including attractant ("Pull") was on the opposite side. And we tested the control efficacy of Push-Pull strategy by behavior-stimuli of cockroaches. In a mini-field test, German cockroach males primarily chose shelters nearest to the attractant-treated surfaces and farthest from the repellent-treated surfaces. The consumption of food or bait was also highest from food nearest to the preferred shelters by push-pull effect. We evaluated the push-pull insecticidal efficacies of five essential oils belong to Citrus plant, namely, grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, and petitgrain. The combined push-pull treatments appeared to be faster and higher insecticidal effects than single (pull) treatment, and the repellent efficacy of Citrus oils was in the order of grapefruit > lemon > lime > orange > petitgrain. Therefore, we propose the effective control of the german cockroach using Citrus oils as repellents and push-pull method into a limited area.
Engineering behaviour of uplift-resisting ground anchors constructed in weathered rocks has been investigated by carrying out a series of full scale pull-out tests. The anchor was to resist uplift forces (buoyancy) associated with high groundwater table acting on the basement of a rail way station. The study has included the ultimate pull-out capacity of the anchors and shear stress transfer mechanism at the anchor-ground interface. The pull-out tests were conducted by changing bonded lengths of the anchor (2~7 m) and diameter of drilled borehole (108~165 mm) to investigate their effects on the behaviour of the anchor. The measured results showed that the ultimate capacity of the anchors was increased with an increase in the bonded length, diameter of drilled borehole as expected. The ultimate capacity of the anchors deduced from the pull-out tests ranged from 392 to 1,569 kN, depending on the above-mentioned factors. This corresponds to the interface shear strength of about 227~505 kPa. Interface shear stresses deduced from the pull-out test showed that the larger the pull-out force, the larger the mobilisation of the interface shear strength. The failure mode of the anchors heavily depended on the bonded lengths of the anchors. When the bonded length was short (2~3 m), a cone-type failure was observed, whereas when the bonded length increased (5~7 m), failure developed at the grout-ground interface.
