In this study, pull box members were designed by finite element analysis of a steel plate covering a pull box to secure its safety on the landing pier dedicated to the large research survey ship. It was assumed that the maximum load is due to the 250 tonf class crane used for unloading work when the working environment in the upper part of the landing pier was considered. The safety of the pull box was evaluated by the comparison between the yield strength of the steel plate and the result of stress analysis on the steel plate due to the crane load. It was found that the stress at the plate from the crane load exceeded the yield strength of the steel(205MPa) when the upper part of the pull box was protected by a $1950{\times}1950mm$ steel plate cover. In order to compensate for this, a concrete filled steel tube(CFT) column with a diameter of 150 mm and a steel thickness of 10 mm was reinforced at the center of the plate, and the finite element analysis was carried out. However, the maximum stress at the steel plate was higher than the yield strength of the steel in some load cases so that it was tried to find appropriate thickness of the steel plate and diameter of the CFT columns. Finally, the analysis results showed that the safety of the pull box was secured when the thickness of the steel plate and the diameter of the CFT column were increased to 30mm and 180mm, respectively.

When a nail pulled out in dense, granular soil, the soil in the vicinity of the nail tends to dilate, but its dilatancy results in a normal stress concentration at the soil/nail interface, thereby increasing the pull-out resistance of the inclusion. It is thought to be occurring within the resistance zone where the soil mass is at stationary state and the reinforcement are held in position by the soil, due to the friction or bond. In this paper, A series of direct shear and interface tests were conducted by using so called‘Constant Normal Stiffness Test Apparatus’which was modified and improved from the conventional direct shear box test rig. Unlikely the normal shear box test, this enables to simulate the different constraint effects of surrounding soil during shear under the conditions of constant stress and volume, constant normal stiffness. The aim of the research programme is to get better understanding of pull-out bond mechanism, thus to explore the possibility of evaluating the pull-out bond capacity of soil/reinforcement at the preliminary design stage from the laboratory test.
The pull -out test has been used to investigate the friction properties between soil and grid type geosynthetics which is useful to measure the passive bearing resistance as well as the skin friction. In this paper, the friction properties between geogrid and a weathered granite soil are investigated by performing various pull-out tests. From the test results, a rational pull out test equipment and test method is suggested by evaluating the effects of major factors (such as geogrid width, location of soil box facing, vertical loads and pulll -out displacement rate, etc.) on pull -out test results.
The purpose of this study was to develop an innovative training model and method to improve the posture and motion, while pulling up during weight lifting by evaluating the problems of Korean weight lifters performing this motion. To investigate the effectiveness of the new training method substitute members of the Korean national weight lifting team performed both the original pull up technique and new pulling training technique while kinetics and kinematics were recorded. For this study, the first phase of the new training method is more appropriate than the original training with the pull up drop slow deadlift to the knee joint. For the second phase, the new training motion is deemed to be more effective than the current box deadlift motion. Also, this new motion corrects the posture as there is more anterior hip joint motion(about 10 cm) and the knee flexes to about 120 degrees. For the third phase, starting about 10cm above the knee the box snatch high pull up is identified as a more suitable training method. For the forth phase, the box top snatch method is judged to be a more effective training method than the original top snatch training method.

Reclaimed land was mainly used as agricultural land for rice production. As a higher value-added business in the agriculture has recently been activated, green houses are being constructed. In case of green house construction on the reclaimed land, it is generally soft ground with high soil water content, so it is important to design the foundation for greenhouse construction. The object of this study, a pull-out test was conducted to derive the base line data of the wooden pile foundation when constructing a green house. To reproduce the actual site, 30% of soil saturation and 70% of soil saturation were created in the soil box. Groove number and depth were set as design factors of the wooden pile, and a pull-out test was conducted. As a result of the test, pull resistance increased as the number of grooves increased, pull-out resistance according to groove depth was different according to soil saturation. Also, after the experiment, we want to compare the set-up effects over time.

This study researched into the left-right inclination of the rear foot at the lower limb joints, knee joint angle, angular velocity of the knee joint, angular acceleration and the max. Based on the analysis of kinematics according to the changes in the height of step box (6, 8, 10 inches) during step aerobics of female college students majoring in physical education. The findings of this study are as follows: Then angle of the knee joint decreased as the height of the step box increased the min. Angle was measured right before the right foot was on the step box, and the angle tended to decrease as the step box get heightened. The left-right inclination of the rearfoot angle according to the height of step box increased as the height increased. In the 'pull-up' stage during which the weight was loaded on the right foot the angle increased, while in the right foot stepping stage during which the right foot was on the ground, the left-right inclination of the rearfoot angle increased as the height of the step box increased. The angular velocity of the knee joint according to the height of step box started increasing when the right foot initially stepped on the step box and during the initial stepping section, the angular velocity decreased as the height of step box increased. The changes in angular acceleration of the knee joint according to the height of step box increased as the height of step box increased.
The purpose of this study was to compare data input interfaces used in e-business applications on the web and find optimal input design characteristics. Basic data entry tools such as a pull down menu, list, text input box, and radio button were examined by inputting data into a simulated hotel room reservation web site. Experimental results indicated that the text input box was most efficient for experts or experienced operators when there are more than four menu-items and pull down menu was considered most satisfactory, simplest, and easier to use for novices or unexperienced users. A simple list was determined to be the best for the input of binary data considering user's satisfaction, simplicity, and flexibility but radio button was evaluated best for the ease to use. Design guide lines of this study can be applied to build a usable interactive web sites and increase economic efficiency.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has announced design standards for disaster-resilient greenhouses capable of resisting wind speeds with a 30-year frequency to respond to the destruction of greenhouses caused by strong winds. However, many greenhouses are still being maintained or newly installed as conventional standard facilities for the supply type. In these supply-type greenhouses, a small pile called a steel peg is used as reinforcement to resist wind-induced damage. The wind resistance of steel pegs varies depending on the soil environment and installation method. In this study, a correlation analysis was performed between the wind resistance of steel pegs installed in loam and sandy loam, using a soil hardness meter. To estimate the pull-out force of steel pegs based on soil water content and compaction, soil compaction tests and laboratory soil box and field tests were performed. The soil compaction degree was measured using a soil hardness meter that could easily confirm soil compaction. This was used to analyze the correlation between the soil compaction degree in the tests. In addition, a correlation analysis was performed between the pull-out force of steel pegs in the soil box and field. The findings of this study will be useful in predicting the pull-out force of steel pegs based on the method of steel peg installation and environmental changes.

In vertebrates, multisubunit cofactors regulate gene expression through interacting with cell-type- and gene-specific DNA-binding proteins in a chromatin-selective manner. ADD1/SREBP1c regulates fatty acid metabolism and insulin-dependent gene expression through binding to SRE and E-box motif with dual DNA binding specificity. Although its transcriptional and post-translational regulation has been extensively studied, its regulation by interacting proteins is not well understood. To identify cellular proteins that associate with nuclear form of ADD1/SEBP1c, we employed the GST pull-down system with Hela cell nuclei extract. In this study, we demonstrated that Ku proteins interact specifically with ADD1/SREP1c protein. GST pull-down combined with peptide sequencing analysis revealed that Ku80 binds to ADD1/SREBP1c in vitro. Additionally, western blot analysis showed that Ku70, a heterodimerizing partner of Ku80, also associates with ADD1/SREBP1c. Furthermore, co-transfection of Ku70/Ku80 with ADD1/SREBP1c enhanced the transcriptional activity of ADD1/SREBP1c. Taken together, these results suggest that the Ku proteins might be involved in the lipogenic and/or adipogenic gene expression through interacting with ADD1/SREBP1c.
Cast in situ and grouted concrete helical piles with 150-200 mm diameter half cylindrical ribs have become an economical and effective choice in Shanghai, China for uplift piles in deep soft soils. Though this type of pile has been successful used in practice, the reinforcing mechanism and the contribution of the ribs to the total resistance is not clear, and there is no clear guideline for the design of such piles. To study the inclusion of ribs to the contribution of shear resistance, the shear behaviour between silty sand and concrete slabs with parallel ribs at different spacing and angles were tested in a large direct shear box ($600mm{\times}400mm{\times}200mm$). The front panels of the shear box are detachable to observe the soil deformation after the test. The tests were modelled with three-dimensional finite element method in ABAQUS. It was found that, passive zones can be developed ahead of the ribs to form undulated failure surfaces. The shear resistance and failure mode are affected by the ratio of rib spacing to rib diameter. Based on the shape and continuity of the failure zones at the interface, the failure modes at the interface can be classified as "punching", "local" or "general" shear failure respectively. With the inclusion of the ribs, the pull out resistance can increase up to 17%. The optimum rib spacing to rib diameter ratio was found to be around 7 based on the observed experimental results and the numerical modelling.
