  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on laser output used for treatment of hair loss. Methods : We searched papers using Pubmed, NDSL, KISS, and RISS. First search used the keyword "Laser, Alopecia" in Pubmed. Inclusion criteria were last 15 years, English, related to output. Finally we searched papers using the keyword "Laser and Alopecia" in NDSL, KISS, and RISS. Inclusion criteria were the same as first research except for English. Results : A total of 43 studies were found, 28 studies were excluded and 15 studies were selected and analyzed. And of the 15 studies, 7 studies were foreign papers and 8 studies were domestic papers on clinical application of laser status. Mainly Used type of laser was a diode laser. As a result, we found that treatment group had more improvement than control group. The range of the laser-output was 1mW-150W in Alopecia laser therapy. Conclusions : Low-level (LLLT) as well as High-level laser therapy (HLLT) can be effectively used as an alternative to the treatment of alopecia. Thus, further attention and studies are needed on this topic in order to reduce the side effects and demonstrate the effectiveness clearly.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to review the research trends in the treatment of tai chi on depression. Methods: We searched articles in Pubmed and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) July 2009~June 2019. Selected studies were evaluated by the Jadad scale. Results: Fifteen controlled clinical trials were selected. The GDS (Geriatric Depression Scale) and SDS (Self-rating Depression Scale) were most frequently used as diagnostic criteria. The GDS was also the most commonly used outcome measurement. From the Jadad scale of 15 articles, the quality of the studies was low, overall. Conclusions: According to this study, it seems that tai chi treatment for depressive disorder is an effective and safe intervention. Thus, based on this study, more clinical research on diverse forms of treatments for depressive disorder should be performed in Korean medicine in the near future.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is understanding the trend of clinical researches on the correlation between precocious puberty and sleep. Methods 18 papers were searched by using keywords 'Precious publicity' and 'Sleep' in Pubmed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and those were analyzed for this study. Results Children aged 6 to 18 were participated in longitudinal studies and questionnaire surveys. Hormone levels and EEG were also measured in those children. This study had placed emphasis on the sleeping time and sleep quality, and sex hormones secretion during sleep and changes in the hormone secretion related to the sleep cycles. Historically, oriental medicine studies have demonstrated that there were correlations between precocious puberty and sleep. There are studies from China showed the importance of lifestyle management in preventing and treating precocious puberty, especially with light exposure during sleep. Conclusions Sleep is closely correlated with precocious puberty and it is an important factor to be considered in the prevention and treatment of precocious puberty.

Results: One pre-post comparison study and seven controlled clinical trials were selected. HAMA (Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety) and STAI (State Anxiety Inventory) were the most frequently used diagnostic criteria. For outcome measurement, STAI was again the most commo. From Jadad Quality Assessment Scale of 8 articles, the overall quality of the studies was low. Conclusions: According to this study, it seemed that Tai Chi treatment on anxiety disorder is an effective and safe intervention. Therefore, based on this study, more clinical research on diverse forms of treatments of anxiety disorder should be performed in Korean medicine in the near future.

  • The purpose of this review is to summarize current knowledge regarding animal sarcopenia and frailty models and their diagnosis indexes. In addition, we introduce the effects of exercise interventions on sarcopenia and frailty syndrome. Data collection and analysis (fifteen published articles from 2005~2017) were conducted by using keywords' sarcopenia index, frailty index, exercise and mice, and so on' in academic search engines such as Google scholar and Pubmed. Sarcopenia and frailty are the representative syndromes in elderly peoples which those symptoms can be effectively prevented or delayed by extremely adjusted long term exercise interventions (The combined oxidative and resistant exercise program might be ideal.).

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to help clinical studies for treating Functional Dyspepsia with acupuncture. We inspected tendency of studies of acupuncture treatment for functional dyspepsia and analyzed the assessing instrument for it by scrutinizing Pubmed recent publications. Materials and Methods: We inspected 8 theses and scrutinized their objectives, periods, participants, materials and methods, the instrument of assessment for the studies, and criteria and symptom score for questionaire, results and JADAD score. Results: 1. Most studies were published by oriental doctors except one which was published by an American doctor. More and more studies are being published in America and written in English recently. So it is considered that western doctors think that the acupuncture treatment is useful as unorthodox medicine for functional dyspepsia. 2. Among the 4 clinical studies, 2 studies were RCT and 1 study was not RCT and 1 study with vagueness. All 4 clinical studies were not double-blinded because they were about comparison between acupuncture treatment and medicine. 3. ST36, PC6, CV12, BL21 were chiefly used, and auricular point, ST40, SP6 were also used. Manual acupuncture were used in 2 studies, and low frequency pulse and electroacupuncture were used in other studies respectively. 4. 4 clinical studies used 0~3 points symptom score as the instrument of assessment. Additional assessments were on gastric emptying time, EGG and plasma level of motilin. All thesis were not verified of validity and reliability. 5. Among the 4 reviewed thesis, 2 theses were about acupuncture as one of the various treatment of functional dyspepsia, and the other 2 theses were about efficacy of acupuncture treatment. And the result generally showed effectivity of acupuncture treatment. Conclusion: Acupuncture treatment for functional dyspepsia is considered useful as in unorthodox medicine by western doctors, and it is necessary to provide objective instrument for assessing acupuncture treatment for functional dyspepsia.

  • Background and Objetive : Acupuncture is a valuable method of oriental medicine with broad application in many disease. It is based on the experiences of traditional oriental medicine as well as on experimentally proven biological (biochemical and neurophysiological) effects. Acupuncture theory has been explained by the meridian system that is thought to be linked with particular organs. However, in western medicine it is held that many disorders are either controlled or affected by the brain. Material and Method : In order to review the studies concerned with the mechanism related brain, we have referred to the Pubmed site and the Journal of Korean acupuncture and moxibustion Result and Conculsion : Among the 12 studies in the Journal of Korean acupuncture and moxibustion, 8 papers related neurotransmitters were done by experimental study, 4 papers related brain mapping were done by clinical study. Among the 8 studies related brain mapping in the Pubmed site, 6 clinical studies using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) were done and I clinical study using single-photon emission computed tomography(SPECT) was done, I paper was review article. By the above result, it would be needed further research on the acupuncture mechanism related brain using SPECT, fMRI, positron emission tomography(PET) etc.
