Now the implementation of user-centered transportation information services are becoming the essential activity for pertinent companies or public institutions. In this paper the author tried to measure the quality of web sites featuring transportation information using the robust measurement tool called WebQual. In addition, the author investigated the relationship between the components of WebQual (usability, information quality, and interactivity) and satisfaction/intention to revisit. According to the results, WebQual had the effectiveness of confirming the service quality for the web sites of transportation information. Also the components of WebQual had positive influences on satisfaction and intention to revisit.

  • Economic growth with rising household income has put more vehicles on the roads worsening traffic congestion, road accidents, and air and noise pollution. This situation is further aggravated by the potential working population who choose to drive to work instead of taking public transportation. Public bus transport (PBT) plays an important role in alleviating these problems. PBT is underutilized in Malaysia, and there is an opportunity to increase ridership without substantial investment. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the factors that influence the use of PBT in Malaysia. The data were collected using structured questionnaires from 400 respondents. The results of the analysis show that the twin factors consisting of perceived satisfaction of and perceived importance by users towards safety and comfort of facilities and services offered by PBT are significantly related to intention to use those services. The satisfaction of availability of season tickets, the importance of reliability of bus schedule and time table, and the importance of ticket pricing are also significant. By providing insights for both public bus operators and the government, this paper contributes to mitigate the underutilization of PBT in Malaysia and the consequences of putting more vehicles on the roads. From the theory perspective, this paper also contributes by extending the theory of reasoned-action to transportation studies.

  • The recently research shows that the many tourists of Suanbo hot spring waters haven't satisfied the service. These reasons due to that they did not properly consider the satisfaction of tourists' services and index. However, satisfaction level of hot spring waters tourists is interacted complicatedly with various factors, the interactions are not easily identified. A structural equations model is adopted to capture the complex relationships among variables. In the model estimation, we used 140 survey data of Suanbo hot spring waters tourists. The SEM with several factors mentioned above as exogenous variables shows that they have complex and strong relationships. As results of a SEM, it was shown that variables influencing in pleasance are surrounding scenery, clean condition inside hot springs and congestion for use in satisfaction level most. Secondly, in case of kindness, attitudes of employees influence in satisfaction level most, followed by attitudes of residents and kindness of employees. Thirdly, in case of information, it was shown guidance on internal roads influencing in satisfaction level most, followed by guidance on owner drivers, guidance on surrounding tourist attractions and guidance on public transportation. Finally, a variable influencing in accessibility most is satisfaction level of public transportation.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the bicycle-sharing economy as an emerging and alternative mode of transportation service and provide managerial and policy implications. The bicycle-sharing economy is still at an early stage of introduction as a transportation mode, while the governmental sector is promoting public bicycle-sharing to encourage bicycle as a substitute for private cars. Research design, data, and methodology - This study analyzed the current status of bicycle sharing programs through a survey that was distributed randomly to users and non-users across the country. Using factor analysis, satisfaction and loyalty for the existing users and intention to use and expected satisfaction for the potential users were examined in relation to utility factors. Results - The results show that economic utility affects satisfaction for user, while storage, mobility, and economic utility affects intention to use for potential users. The findings of this study indicate that in order to promote a bicycle-sharing scheme, it would be better to focus on the scheme's economic advantage to be truly effective. Conclusions - The findings of the study could be applicable to future directions of the sharing economy as a means to achieve the sustainable development of society.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting residential satisfaction considering the three hierarchical levels of individual, household, and area. In the background of the study, the individuals' quality-of-life satisfaction determined not only by the individual but also by the various influencing environmental factors. This study targets 1,736 households, 3,239 persons in 464 areas in Seoul. The main research results are as follows. At the level one, there were influencing factors such as age(-), education level and income, and housing area per person, recipient of basic living(-), period(-) and RIR (at the level two). At the level three, west-south region(-) and social mix affect the complex of public housing. In consideration of living infrastructure, the closer to public transportation, public facilities, and medical facilities, the higher the satisfaction of public housing. The results of this analysis suggest that public support needs to focus on individual household members, but there is a need for ways to link it with the complex and the region.

From this point, studying the satisfaction with subways services can be extremely useful. Empirical study of key factors in the satisfaction with subway services is the departure point, which holds as objectives, and we believe, will contribute to overall increasing in the number of subways services used and in the amount of public benefits derived from that usage.

  • There are many efforts for expanding bikeway plans and increasing bike utilization. In this study the authors try to find the primary factors that affect bike users' satisfaction under limited budgets. As satisfaction is a qualitative variable, the authors developed a bike user satisfaction model by using structural equation methods. The bikeways are distinguished between bike lanes on public roads and exclusive bikeways along the Han River, as the characteristics and attributes should be different. The model shows bikeways on public road have a user satisfaction equal to 0.248*(safety)+0.405(accessibility). Bikeways along the Han River have a user satisfaction equal to 0.437*(accessibility)+0.405*(economic feasibility). In both types, accessibility affects satisfaction. Safety in more important to users on public roads, while economic feasibility affects those on the Han River bikeways.
