One aspect of the globalization of the financial market after the 1980s is represented by the concurrent monetarization of the national stock markets. As the IR activity is regarded as a new financial productivity measure, the IR activity in the stock market is being emphasized domestically and internationally. This study analyzes domestic IR activities and compares them with foreign IR activities. Specifically the "road show", a typical IR activity, which is known to resolve the information asymmetry between the firm and the investors is analyzed to see the extent of the their value increase impact on the firm. The study employs domestic and international firms that publicly announced "road shows" after April 2004. Event studies are done to see the existence of abnormal return after the public announcement of road shows. Domestic firms were found to have positive IR impacts on the stock prices, but international firms were found to have negative IR impacts on the stock prices. Also it was found that international public announcement of the road show have stronger positive impact on the stock price than domestic public announcement. The investigation of the statistically significant difference of CAR before and after the fair public announcement enforcement rule showed that the positive CAR impact is strengthened after the adoption of the rule. The conclusion is that increase of the firm value after the road show implies that the information asymmetry is reduced by the active IR actions on the firm side. The policy implication is that we have to reassure the understanding of the role of the IR activities. Specifically Korean firms may have to encourage IR activities to share the information of the firms with the investors, which may result in the trustworthy relationship between the firms and investors.

본 연구는 바이오기업의 외부 네트워크 전략을 공동연구 협력, 제조/마케팅/판매 제휴, 자금지원, M&A 등 4가지로 구분하고, 이와 같은 바이오기업의 외부네트워크 전략이 기업의 성과에 미친 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 미국 바이오기업 패널자료를 사용하여 분석한다. 첫째, 기술개발 이후의 제조/판매/마케팅 제휴는 단기간에도 모든 기업성과를 증진시키는 역할을 하였다. 둘째, 기술개발단계에서의 연구개발협력 중 제약회사와의 협력은1~2년 이후의 기업성과에, 그리고 타 바이오기업과의 연구개발협력은 2년 이후의 기업성과에 정의효과를 가져왔다. 셋째, 가장 장기적이며 기초연구에 주목적을 두고 있는 공공기관 및 대학과의 공동연구 협력은 단기적인 기업성과에 부정적으로 작용하여 향후 2~3년이 아닌 보다 장기적인 관점에서 재조명되어야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 실증분석결과는 국내 바이오산업의 발전을 위하여 외부 네트워크전략을 통하여 기술혁신을 경주하는 노력이 필요하며, 또한 주로 기초기술에 집중된 공공기관과 대학과의 공동연구를 지원하는 정책적 고려가 필요함을 시사한다.

This study examines the environmental performance of firms in Vietnam and its determinants. The contribution of the paper is on both theoretical and empirical aspects. On the theoretical matter, the research proposes a new index measuring environmental management at the firm level, namely the Environmental Management Index with a clear illustration for the case of Vietnam. On the empirical matter, the study points out and estimates determinants of the corporate environmental performance of Vietnamese firms measured by the newly proposed index. Due to data availability and the impossibility of getting more updated data, the empirical analysis covers only the period from 2004-2009. However, findings are still meaningful because, on the one hand, it provides some evidence for Vietnamese policymakers; on the other hand, with the robust methodology proposed, when more recent data are available, researchers can easily replicate the estimation for more insights. Empirical results show that factors having positive impacts on the environmental performance of Vietnamese firms are profit, capital stock, and interestingly public pressure proxied by the population of the province where the firm is located. Firm ownership does also matter in explaining the corporate environmental performance of Vietnam.

In this article, the values of internal force and deformation of a curved beam under any action with the firm or elastic supports are determined by using structural matrices. The article presents the general differential formulation of a curved beam in global coordinates, which is solved in an orderly manner using simple integrals, thus obtaining the transfer matrix expression. The matrix expression of rigidity is obtained through reordering operations on the transfer notation. The support conditions, firm or elastic, provide twelve equations. The objective of this article is the construction of the algebraic system of order twenty-four, twelve transfer equations and twelve support equations, which relates the values of internal force and deformation associated with the two ends of the directrix of the curved beam. This final algebraic system, expressed in matrix form, is divided into two subsystems: twelve algebraic equations of internal force and twelve algebraic equations of deformation. The internal force and deformation values for any point in the curved beam directrix are determined from these values in the initial position. The five examples presented show how to apply the matrix procedures developed in this article, whether they are curved beams with the firm or elastic support.

많은 기업이 포화한 내수시장을 벗어나 해외시장으로의 진출을 도모하고 있다. 하지만 바이어 발굴 및 컨텍, 대금결제의 위험성, 최근 쟁점이 되는 자국 보호주의 정책의 강화 등 여러 이유로 해외 진출이 어려운 실정이다. 기업의 UN 공공 조달 참여를 장려하기 위하여 여러 노력이 진행되었다. 하지만, UN 공공 조달의 다양한 기회에도 불구하고 여전히 제한된 규모의 기업만이 참여하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기업의 UN 공공 조달 참여 의향에 영향을 미치는 요인을 기업요인과 제품요인으로 구분하여 설명하였다. 구체적으로 본 연구에서는 UN 공공 조달 참여에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 기업의 사회적 책임과 글로벌 지향성의 중요성을 확인하였다. 이와 함께, UN 공공 조달 참여와 지속가능성 사이의 긍정적인 관계에 관해 설명하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 요인들은 기업의 UN 공공 조달 참여 의향 수준을 높이며 최종적으로 지속가능성 등 기업의 경쟁력 향상에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

정부가 민간기업에 지출하는 연구개발비는 최근 들어 지속적으로 늘어왔다. 2008년에는 전체 공공 연구개발 지출액의 17%가 민간기업에 지원됐으며 서비스업에서 지출되는 연구비의 약 9%가 공공 연구개발비였으나 이들 지원금에 대한 평가 및 연구가 잘 이루어지고 있지 않다. 본 연구의 목적은 국내 서비스기업들의 양적 질적인 혁신활동 결과에 공공 연구개발 보조금이 어떠한 효과를 가지는지를 분석하는 것이다. 즉, 정부의 직접보조금이 서비스기업의 혁신활동을 촉진시키는지 구축시키는지를 Propensity Score Matching (PSM) 방법을 이용하여 실증 분석하는 것이다. 분석결과 정부의 보조금은 기업 최초 서비스혁신의 성과에만 통계적으로 유의한 양의 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 다른 결과지표에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 정부의 서비스업에 대한 보조금 지급정책이 국가전체 혁신수준의 향상 및 양적인 증가에는 기여하지 못하나 기업자체의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 혁신활동은 촉진시킨다고 할 수 있다.

CALS has been a hot issue in the industry related to the information technology in order to achieve the strategic competitive advantage, especially in the field of logistics and manufacturing firms. Nonetheless, while there is an abundance of literature advocating the strategic role of the concept in the field of logistics and manufacturing firms, little attention has been given to the planning process to be applied to public administration sectors. This research conducts a case study on Firm C, which is one of the government institutes, investigating its planning processes for which CALS concept should be applied. Based on the analysis of the document and interviews with the author, by applying information system planning and value chain models, this paper concludes that CALS concept can be successfully applied to the public administration sectors likewise industry sectors.

This paper explores the determinants of the innovation impact of publicly funded R&D projects along three broad dimensions, namely project, firm and market-related factors. In addition to these factors we examine the attributes of the research result per se and aspects of the commercialization process. The observations from empirical and qualitative analyses are based on R&D projects funded by the Fifth and Sixth Research Framework Programmes of the European Union. Firm size, prior experience, innovation culture, the nature of the project itself, explicit intension to commercialize, consortium management and strategy are the factors with the strongest effect on project success, defined in terms of product/process innovation and/or technical knowledge creation. The paper provides important implications for the organization, objectives, and management of public programmes that fund R&D and for project and participant selection.

Intangible Assets are more important determinants of firm value than others in a digital information-based economy(Lev, 2001). Prior research reveals that investments in intangible assets such as R&D and advertising expenditures are associated with firm value. This paper examines the effects of the corporate investments in the information technologies(IT) on stock return and economic goodwill. The sample consists of 152 firms listed on the Korean stock market in 2002. To test hypothesis We employed multiple regression models. Results are as follows; First, IT environment, IT process, and IT human resource are positively associated with firm's IT value. Second, firm's IT value is positively correlated with firm's economic goodwill. Third, firm's IT value is positively correlated with firm's stock return. These results suggest that the investments related with IT are effective in cultivating firm's value and Stock investors can make the best use of firm's announcements related with IT value. Thus the authorities concerned need to expand the public announcements related IT value.
