Preliminary Study of Bioinformatics Patents and Their Classifications Registered in the KIPRIS Database

  • Whereas a vast amount of new information on bioinformatics is made available to the public through patents, only a small set of patents are cited in academic papers. A detailed analysis of registered bioinformatics patents, using the existing patent search system, can provide valuable information links between science and technology. However, it is extremely difficult to select keywords to capture bioinformatics patents, reflecting the convergence of several underlying technologies. No single word or even several words are sufficient to identify such patents. The analysis of patent subclasses can provide valuable information. In this paper, I did a preliminary study of the current status of bioinformatics patents and their International Patent Classification (IPC) groups registered in the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) database.

국가교통시설 안정적 타당성 평가를 위한 국가교통데이터베이스 관리체제 진단 연구 (A Diagnosis Study on the Korea Transport Database for Stable Feasibility Analysis on Transportation Facilities)

  • PURPOSES: This study is to find the substantial shortcomings embedded in the government policies and practical administrative processes associated with the Korean Transportation Database (KTDB) and to propose preliminary approaches to overcome. METHODS: Administrative and socioeconomic issues on inefficiency in public and private investment and redemption was found from the literature review. Through the interview of sets of experts and practitioners, a set of faultiness embodied in the administrative procedure utilizing and managing KTDB was found and analyzed. RESULTS: This study found the erroneous administrative elements categorized into four groups: faulty socioeconomic data supporting local governors's optimistic will yielded overestimation of future traffic demand; faulty data incidentally introduced in KTDB burdened traffic demand analysis; unavoidable misuse of KTDB worsened the unstability of KTDB; and apathy to manage the KTDB data deviated systematic management. The proposed includes the alteration of the administrative and technical systems to overcome those shortcomings. CONCLUSIONS : Erroneous administrative elements associated with KTDB should be concerned prior to indicating subsequential faultiness in demand analysis.

보건소 건강증진사업을 위한 데이터베이스 시스템 구축 - 고혈압과 갱년기 여성건강관리를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development of a Database for a Health Care System - Focusing on Health Care Management for Hypertensive Patients and Middle-aged Women -)

  • Purpose: This study intends to make a database for hypertensive patients and middle-aged women who are visiting the Yeojoo County Health Center. While building up the database, the study reviewed the current assessment tools used in the health center, developed appropriate health care programs, and designed a computerized health care system. Method: The modeling of a database for the system was constructed by MS-Access for DBMS (Database Management System) and Visual Basic. The system is to be used only in the health center by being designed as a client server method, making it possible for many public employees to be interconnected, and enables them to retrieve and search data from the database simultaneously. Results: The health management system systematically follows nursing processes including assessment, diagnosis, intervention and evaluation. Diagnosis. once it is done according to the self determined criteria, saves time and provides appropriate health information for the members. Also, the health education program was developed to follow up on the health status of the members on a continuous basis. Conclusion: Based on these results, it is required to evaluate health care programs provided for the members by using the database system and to develop more practical health care programs. It is also necessary to connect the system to other databases. which contain information about members.

지적재산권 보호를 위한 전통의학 DB 구축에 관한 고찰 (Grope for a Summary Program about a Traditional Medical Database for Intellectual Property Protection in WIPO)

  • Objectives : In the WIPO conference about the protection of intellectual property for traditional knowledge (TK) and genetic resources (GR), there was a demand concerning the necessity of recognizing the invention of TK and GR and the foundation of a related database. Methods : In the standard of the foundation of a database, the content and resource identification standards, the technological standards and the security and transmission standards were discussed. In a decision on intellectual property, it means the protection and recognition as a technology precedent of the materials of the database. Results : Massive material on traditional medical care technology in Korea has existed in many areas. However, it is hard to make a database because it is difficult to organize and find the data. In addition, a database demanded by WIPO is not only the material of images or texts of simple technology information, but also the use of patent decisions about traditional knowledge technology and the public sharing of information in related areas. A traditional medical care database would consist of the core of a subject and the related areas. The core part is the medical herb resource and Oriental clinical technology. Conclusions : These are necessary to detail the kind of medicines and prescriptions, their use, and their processing. In the related areas, it needs to detail PIAS and clinical data in regarding the industrialization. These DB have to protect the TK and the GR of Korea.

QAP상관분석을 통한 대중교통 네트워크의 구조적 특성 규명 (Structural Characterization of Public Transportation Networks based on QAP Correlation)

  • Public transportation systems play key roles in supporting dynamic activities and interaction between urban places. Especially, high efficient public transportation systems are required in order to support large traffic demands in urban areas. In this paper, we define a new metric, structural activation level (SAL), to replace the conventional transportation share ratio (TSR) measuring efficiency of public transportation systems. First of all, we access the Korea Transport Database (KTDB) and download origin-destination data by transport types to construct traffic networks with respect to transport types for each city. Then, we calculate the QAP (Quadratic Assignment Procedure) correlation between each traffic network and the total traffic network for each city to investigate SAL by comparing cities one another. The results of our investigation reveal inconsistency between TSR and SAL. In Daegu, TSR of public transportation systems is relatively low while SAL is high. In Deajeon, however, SAL is low while TSR is high. Therefore, we suggest to take into consideration SAL as well as TSR in order to investigate the degree of activation of public transportation.

국내 공공도서관의 인명 전거제어의 현황 및 발전 방향 (Personal Name Authority Control in Korean Public Libraries)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 공공도서관 목록에서 개인저자명에 대한 전거제어의 적용 여부 혹은 적용 범위가 검색 결과에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 전거제어를 활용한 검색 재현을 향상 방안을 제시한 후 궁극적으로 국내 공공도서관 전거제어의 발전 방향을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 국립중앙도서관목록, KOLISNET, 및 열 개의 무작위로 선정한 공공도서관의 온라인 목록에서 같은 외국이름의 다른 우리말표기 형태와 성명 도치 형태 및 같은 국내인물의 다른 이름의 사레를 검색한 결과로 부분적이며 불완전한 전거제어를 수행하는 국립중앙도서관을 제외한 다른 공공도서관들의 전거제어 미적용 현황을 확인하였다. 아울러 서지레코드의 불완전성, 부정화성 및 일관성 결여, 검색방법의 문제점 등을 발견하였다. 본 연구에서는 저자명 검색 시 찾기와 모으기 기능의 향상을 위해 적절한 수준과 범위의 전거제어의 적용 필요성, 공유 전거파일의 구측 필요성. 국립중앙도서관의 전거데이터베이스 활용 가능성 등을 제안하였다. 또한 검색시스템의 보완을 위해 LC 목록이나 AMICUS와 같이 검색 질의 시 서지레코드 건수를 포함한 이름표목 리스트를 거쳐 서지리스트로 갈 수 있게 하는 방법 및 이에 관련된 개인명의 식별 방안 등을 제안하였다.

제주도 공공 관정 지질주상도 DB 구축 소개 (Study of Geological Log Database for Public Wells, Jeju Island)

  • 제주도 수문지질 종합 해석시스템 구축 연구의 일환으로 수행된 제주도 공공 관정 지질주상도 데이터베이스 구축결과를 소개한다. 1970년대부터 개발된 제주도 전역의1,200여 개 공공 관정의 지질주상도를 수문지질 조사소(炤)${\Pi}$$^{\circ}$ 범용할 수 있도록 6개의 속성 테이블로 구분하여 세부 정보를 데이터베이스화하여 분석을 수행한 결과, 기존 공공 관정지질주상도 이용에 다음과 같은 문제점이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, (1) 지질주상도 암석명의 통일성 결여, (2) 화산쇄설층 및 사력층 개념 정립 필요, (3) 대수층 정보 불포함, (4) 상당수 관정에 대한 스크린설치 구간 심도 미기재, (5) 지질주상도 작성자별 기재 사항 및 내용상의 상이성 등이다. 연구팀은 상기와 같은 문제점들을 개선하기 위해 지질주상도상의 화산암 및 퇴적암 명칭을 재정립함과 아울러, 상용화된 데이터베이스 형식의 지질주상도 프로그램을 이용해 표준화된 입력과 출력형식 생성이 가능한 제주도 공공 관정 지질주상도 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 새롭게 설계된 입력 테이블을 이용한 지질주상도 프로그램은 데이터베이스 입력 형식 기반을 가지고 있어, 사용자가 지정한 표준화된 입력 구조를 통해 지질, 관정 시추 및 시험 데이터들을 저장하여 데이터베이스화 함과 동시에 지질주상도와 단면도 출력에도 이용할 수 있다. 또한 지하수 관측 및 양수시험 결과 등의 새로운 자료도 데이터베이스 구조의 변경없이 쉽게 추가될 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 구축된 지질주상도 데이터베이스는 향후 개발되는 관정들의 표준 데이터베이스 기준으로 활용됨으로써, 일관성 있는 지질주상도 작성과 수문지질 종합연구에 크게 도움이 될 전망이다. 또한, 현재 추진 중인 제주도 수문지질 해석시스템 개발과 기후변화에 대응한 통합수자원관리계획 기반기술을 뒷받침해 주는 초석이 될 것으로 기대된다.

COVID-19 Risk Factors Among Health Workers: A Rapid Review

  • Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) poses an important occupational health risk to health workers (HWs) that has attracted global scrutiny. To date, several thousand HWs globally have been reported as infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus that causes the disease. It is therefore a public health priority for policymakers to understand risk factors for this vulnerable group to avert occupational transmission. A rapid review was carried out on 20 April 2020 on Covid-19 risk factors among HWs in PubMed, Google Scholar, and EBSCOHost Web (Academic Search Complete, CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE with Full Text, CINAHL with Full Text, APA PsycInfo, Health Source-Consumer Edition, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition) and WHO Global Database. We also searched for preprints on the medRxiv database. We searched for reports, reviews, and primary observational studies (case control, case cross-over, cross-sectional, and cohort). The review included studies conducted among HWs with Covid-19 that reported risk factors irrespective of their sample size. Eleven studies met the inclusion criteria. Lack of personal protective equipment, exposure to infected patients, work overload, poor infection control, and preexisting medical conditions were identified as risk factors for Covid-19 among HWs. In the context of Covid-19, HWs face an unprecedented occupational risk of morbidity and mortality. There is need for rapid development of sustainable measures that protect HWs from the pandemic.

공간정보 자료를 이용한 국·공유지 무단점유 시설물 탐색 (Detection of Unauthorized Facilities Occupying on the National and Public Land Using Spatial Data)

  • 본 연구는 대표적인 공간정보 자료인 연속지적도와 수치지형도를 활용하여 국 공유지 무단점유 의심 시설물을 탐지하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 먼저, 국 공유지 대장 자료와 연속지적도를 위치정보를 기반으로 연계하여 국 공유지 공간정보 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. PNU 코드를 활용하여 서로 다른 기관들에서 관리하는 자료들을 하나의 공간정보 DB로 통합하였으며, 연속지적도 상에서 각각의 필지에 대해 국 공유지의 공부상 사용/미사용 여부를 확인하였다. 다음으로 구축된 국 공유지 공간정보 DB와 수치지형도를 활용하여 공부상 미사용 국 공유지 필지에 존재하는 무단점유 의심 시설물들을 탐색하였다. 마지막으로 제안된 방법론을 실험 대상지역에 대해 적용하고 효용성을 평가하였다. 본 연구를 통해 기 구축된 공간정보 데이터들의 활용성을 높이는 동시에 효율적이고 경제적인 국 공유지의 관리가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

대구지역 암등록사업의 효율적 수행방안 (The Efficient Methods of Population-based Cancer Registration in Daegu City)

  • Objective: This study was conducted to automatically improve the completeness and validity of the Daegu Cancer Registry, using cross record linkage of many data sources, and to develop a computerized patient enrollment system for efficient communication among cancer researchers via the internet. Method: We analyzed 10,229 cancer patients who were reported in the National Cancer Registry, and from pathological reports, health insurance cancer claims lists, cancer patient records at hospital information centers and death certificates from the Korea National Statistical Office. Result: We confirmed 4,624 cancer patients and found 897 of new cases from a review of medical chart. The new cases were detected efficiently using cross record linkage. We developed a computerized patient enrollment system, based on a client-sewer model, for the input of cancer patients, and then developed a web-based reporting homepage and patient enrollment system for the internet. Conclusion: This system could manage cancer databases systematically, and could be given to other researchers as a basic database.
