Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. Research tools measuring resilience, family support, psychological adaptation, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) protein were used. Results: Resilience showed significant differences according to the age, gender, academic achievement, and hospitalization experience of the children. Family support was significantly different according to the age, religion, academic achievement, fathers' education level, and hospitalization experience of the children. Psychological adaptation to diabetes showed significant differences according to academic achievement. HbA1c was shown to be significant difference according to fathers' education level and hospitalization experience of the children. Positive correlations were identified among resilience, family support, and psychosocial adaptation, while negative correlations were found between HbA1c and all others including resilience, family support, and psychosocial adaptation. Conclusion: This study suggests that the educational programs as nursing intervention needs to be developed to enhance the resilience and family support for the pediatric diabetic patients.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the psychosocial responses and quality of life (QOL) among Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients and their caregivers in South Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used. Purposive sample of 15 ALS patients and their 14 caregivers were recruited via Korean Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (KALSA) website. Demographic characteristics, hopelessness, quality of life, physical function, and caregiver burden were measured. Results: The mean period after being diagnosed with ALS was 57.73 months. The mean score of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis functional rating scale and quality of life was 21.33 (SD=11.97) and 5.70 (SD=1.23) respectively. The mean score of hopelessness was 11.87 (SD=4.72). The caregivers' mean score of McGill quality of life was 4.29 (SD=1.46), and the mean score of McGill quality of life-single item scale was 4.29 (SD=2.02). Conclusion: Since the cause of ALS has not been identified and cure is yet to be discovered, supportive care should be provided for not only quality of life but hope of patients. The findings may be used to develop knowledge based nursing intervention for patients diagnosed with ALS and their caregivers.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare between performance and requirements of visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance using the OMAHA system. Methods: The subjects were 72 nurses who had worked in a visiting nursing care center in long-term care insurance. Data were collected from December 5, 2016 to January 31, 2017 using self-recorded questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. Results: Four dimensions of the OMAHA system showed statistically significant differences between performance and requirements of visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance. The requirements of visiting nursing care were higher than was performance on all 40 items of the OMAHA system. The greatest difference was in environmental domain and then the psychosocial domain. Conclusion: Based on the results, we found that the environmental and psychosocial domains were the largest gap areas. Therefore, with the reality of elderly people living alone and the increase in elderly couples, active intervention connected with the community is needed in residential areas. Further, we suggest that the OMAHA system can be utilized as an integrated conceptual framework for developing and enhancing visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance.

Methods: Data were collected from a convenient sample of 275 community health practitioners using an online questionnaire, which included items on mental health (K-WEMWBS), psychosocial factors (COVID-19 sensitivity, COVID-19 self-confidence, social support, perceived stress), and personal characteristics. Collected data were analyzed using the t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression in SPSS 25.0. Results: Mean mental health score was 51.27±8.47. Multiple linear regression revealed that time spent as a community health practitioner, COVID-19 self-confidence, social support, and perceived stress were significantly associated with mental health. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that comprehensive intervention with emphases on improving COVID-19 self-confidence, social support, and reducing stress is required to improve community health practitioner mental health. The results also indicate a need for educational programs aimed at improving the mental health of young community health practitioners.

Background: This study investigated the effects of pelvic floor stabilization exercise of pain, disfunction, psychosocial, electromyography (EMG) activity on the lower back pain with postpartum. Methods: The study included 20 postpartum women who were randomly assigned to a sling exercise group (SEG, n=10) or a general physical therapy group (GPTG, n=10). Outcomes were assessed using to lower back pain with postpartum the quadruple visual analogue scale (QVAS), the Korean version of the Oswestry disability index (KODI), the fear avoidance belief questionnaire (FABQ), the inventory of functional status after childbirth (IFSAC), the edinburgh postnatal depression scale-Korean (EPDS-K), and trunk muscle activity before and after a 4-week exercise intervention. Statistical analysis were performed using a mean, standard deviation, crosstab test, paired t-test, independent t-test. Kolmogorove-Smirnov test was used for test of normality. Results: Compared to the GPTG, the SEG showed significant improvement in the QVAS, KODI, FABQ, IFSAC, and EPDK-K scores (p<.05) after 4 weeks. Conclusion: Postpartum pelvic strengthening exercise proved to have a positive effect.
This study aims to clarify the psychosocial reactions of female patients with gynecological cancer undergoing chemotherapy and in the process of suffering from alopecia and to examine their nursing support. The target group comprised female patients who had received two or more cycles of chemotherapy, were suffering from alopecia, and were aged 30-65. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews, conducted from the time the patients were informed by their doctors that they might experience alopecia due to chemotherapy to the time they actually experienced alopecia and until they were able to accept the change. Inductive qualitative analysis was employed to close in on the subjective experiences of the cancer patients. The results showed the existence of six phases in the psychosocial reactions in the process of alopecia: phase one was the reaction after the doctor's explanation; phase two was the reaction when the hair starts to fall out; phase three was the reaction when the hair starts to intensely fall out; phase four was the reaction when the hair has completely fallen out; phase five was the reaction to behavior for coping with alopecia; and phase six was the reaction to change in interpersonal human relationships. The results also made it clear that there are five types of reaction patterns as follows: 1) treatment priority interpersonal relationship maintenance type; 2) alopecia agitated interpersonal relationship maintenance type; 3) alopecia agitated interpersonal relationship reduction type; 4) alopecia denial interpersonal relationship reduction type; and 5) alopecia denial treatment interruption type. It is important to find out which of the five types the patients belong to early during treatment and provide support so that nursing intervention that suits each individual can be practiced. The purpose of this study is to make clear the process in which patients receiving chemotherapy come to accept alopecia and to examine evidence-based nursing care on patients with strong mental distress from alopecia.
Objectives : The author wanted to summarize the psychiatric and social aspects of the patients with hepatitis B virus infection. Methods : The author reviewed all pertinent citations in the Medline database from 1966 to 1999. Results : Psychiatric problems in this population include delirium, psychotic disorder due to general medical condition(especially mania), anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, alcohol abuse/dependence, and drug abuse/dependence. Social aspects of the patients with hepatitis B viral infection relate to the stigma of being a carrier, guilty feeling about infection, guilty feeling about increased family burden, impacts of having hepatitis on interpersonal relations, sexual difficulties, and job loss with increased financial burden, and health care worker's refusal. Conclusions : Appropriate early educational counseling interventions regarding the expected course and psychosocial intervention should be tailored to the sociocultural needs of special populations. Those interventions will increase compliance of treatment and prevent progression to hepatocellalar carcinoma from hepatitis.
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of psychosocial protective and risk factors on problem drinking among American adolescents. In addition, this study investigated the compensatory and buffering effects of psychosocial protective factors. The sample consisted 4,362 10th graders taken from the Monitoring the Future Study 2002. This study performed the hierarchical regression analysis for data analyses. The main findings provided that friend influence, sensation-seeking, and tolerance of deviance had significant positive relationships with problem drinking as risk factors. This study also revealed that negative perception on drinking, parental bonding, school bonding, and prosocial activity had significant direct impacts in decreasing problem drinking, which explains the compensatory effect of protective factors. Additionally, this study showed that negative perception on drinking had a significant buffering effect moderating friend influence on adolescents' opportunities exposed to problem drinking. The results of this study suggest some practical implications for preventive intervention programs that target adolescent problem drinking.
Purpose: The study was to develop psychoeducational intervention and identify its effect for symptom management of home cancer patient. Method: Study subjects were 24 patients in control group and 18 patients in experimental group. In experimental group, individualized psychoeducation was done after pretest and then continued to educate and consult through calling by telephone once a week for 4 weeks. The data were collected using several tools such as symptom distress by McCorkle(2000). Physical functioning, a part of Medical Outcome Study by Ware and Sherbouine(1992) and QOL- cancer patient version by Ferrell and Grant(1995) from 18th of Feb. to 30th of July. Data were analysed to ${\chi}^2$ test and t test using SAS VER8.12. Results: The mean score of symptom distress was 21.6 in experimental group and 24.2 in control group. Experimental group was shown lower score than control group. Physical functioning of experimental group was better as mean score 23.3 than 20.6 in control. Psychological wellbeing was 69.7 in experimental group and 66.1 in control group. Social wellbeing was 32.2 in experiment and 25.8 in control. Psychosocial wellbeing of experimental group was higher than control group. However there was no significant differernce between two groups among these variables. Conclusion: The psycho educational intervention was not made symptom mangement, physical functioning, and psycho social wellbeing improved but shown positive tendency. It is expected having a statistically significant finding if enlarged sample size and prolonged the intervention term in future. Therefore it is suggested psycho educational intervention study do repeatedly.
