Developing a Basic Scale for Workers' Psychological Burden from the Perspective of Occupational Safety and Health

  • Background: Organizations are pursing complex and diverse aims to generate higher profits. Many workers experience high work intensity such as workload and work pressure in this organizational environment. Especially, psychological burden is a commonly used term in workplace of Republic of Korea. This study focused on defining the psychological burden from the perspective of occupational safety and health and tried to develop a scale for psychological burden. Methods: The 48 preliminary questionnaire items for psychological burden were prepared by a focus group interview with 16 workers through the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II and Mindful Awareness Attention Scale. The preliminary items were surveyed with 572 workers, and exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation analysis were conducted for a new scale. Results: As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, five factors were extracted: organizational activity, human error, safety and health workload, work attitude, and negative self-management. These factors had significant correlations and reliability, and the stability of the model for validity was confirmed using confirmatory factor analysis. Conclusion: The developed scale for psychological burden can measure workers' psychological burden in relation to safety and health. Despite some limitations, this study has applicability in the workplace, given the relatively small-sized questionnaire.

요양병원 간호사의 치매태도, 치매행동심리증상 부담감, 간호전문직관이 치매간호수행에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Dementia Attitude, Burden of Behavioral and Psychological Symptom in Dementia(BPSD), and Nursing Professionalism on Dementia Nursing Performance among Long-term Care Hospitals Nurses)

  • 본 연구는 요양병원 간호사의 치매태도, 치매행동심리증상 부담감, 간호전문직관의 관계를 파악하고, 치매간호 수행에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 실시되었다. 자료수집은 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 요양병원 간호사 161명을 대상으로 2019년 11월 4일부터 12월 13일까지 시행하였으며, 자료분석은 SPSS/WIN 21.0프로그램을 이용하여 t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression으로 하였다. 치매간호수행에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인은 치매태도(β=.280, p=.001), 간호전문직관(β=.237, p=.006), 치매행동심리증상 부담감(β=-.175, p=.012), 치매교육경험(β=.166, p=.014)이었다. 따라서 요양병원간호사의 치매간호수행도 향상을 위해서는 긍정적인 치매태도와 간호전문직관의 확립, 치매행동심리증상 부담감 감소를 위해 다양한 중재프로그램 개발과 치매교육의 적용이 필요하다.

청소년이 지각한 부모양육태도, 또래애착 및 탄력성과 삶의 의미간의 구조적 관계 (The structural relationship among parenting attitudes, peer attachment, resiliency and meaning in life)

  • Objectives: The major purpose of the study is to examine structural relation among teenager's perception of parenting attitudes, peer attachment, resilience and meaning in life. In order to achieve purpose of the study, we will develop reliable criterion which can measure variable. Method: We will set up structural relational model from relationship between internal and external variables that can influence teenager's meaning in life and we will examine the relationship between variables through structural equation analysis. we will find structural relationship among parenting attitudes, peer attachment, resilience and meaning in life. Results: We analyzed structural relationship among variables targeting 744 middle school and high school students. Teenager's perception of parenting attitudes have positive influence on peer attachment. This shows that teenager perception of fostering attitude have a positive influence even though teenager percepts parent's foster attitude as overprotective or compassionate. However, if teenager percept fostering attitude as overprotective, teenager perception of parenting attitudes doesn't have influence on resilience. Parent's compassionate attitude not only directly influence resilience but also influence resilience through peer attachment. This validates that individual psychological factor, such as how teenager accept and interpret surrounding environment can influence resilience. Peer attachment relationship not only directly influence resilience but also influence meaning of life through resilience. The resilience has direct effect on meaning in life. Conclusions: When one of education goal is to help teenager to find meaning in life and to reach self-realization, We need to have interest in resilience which is known factor for contributing meaning in life. As previous teenager studies has approached this problem, such as maladjustment, delinquency, and depression, it is significant that this study is examined in positive a psychological perspective which focus on healthy adjustment, such as meaning in life based on teenager's resilience and happiness.

간호대학생의 죽음에 대한 태도와 회복탄력성이 임종간호에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Attitude to Death and Resilience on Terminal Care Attitude among Korean Nursing students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore the influences of attitude to death and resilience on terminal care attitude among Korean nursing students. Methods: Participants were 230 nursing undergraduates from two nursing schools in Korea. The students responded to a self-report questionnaire that included demographics, attitude to death, resilience, and terminal care attitude. Results: The majority of the participants who had undertaken a clinical practicum had experienced the death of a patient during their clinical placements but had not yet received any support from their instructors or professionals, but also academic training on patients' death or terminal care. The mean score of terminal care of the students who had death-related education was significantly higher than among those who had not. Regression analysis indicated that attitude to death, grade, and resilience were the most significant predictors of terminal care attitude. These explained 30.3% of their terminal care attitude. Conclusion: Death-related education is needed throughout the curriculum including not only death but also resilience to develop emotional competences. In this way, nursing undergraduates will be better prepared to cope positively and constructively with the suffering and death they encounter, and thus may minimize the distress they experience in the patients' dying process. It may also create a significant positive increase in their terminal care attitude.

여고생 식이태도와 심리적 및 생리적 요인과의 상관관계 ; 우울감, 공격성, 충동성 및 혈중 콜레스테롤에 대하여 (Relationship between Eating Attitude in Female Adolescent and Psychological, Biological Factors ; Depression, Aggression, Impulsiveness and Blood Cholesterol Level)

  • 이 논문의 목적은 여고생을 대상으로 청소년의 식이태도와 이에 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대되는 우울감, 공격성, 충동성 등 심리적 요인과, 콜레스테롤 및 중성지방 등 생물학적 요인의 상관관계를 확인하는 것이다. 이를 통하여 최근 국내에서도 매우 빠른 속도로 증가하고 있는 각종 섭식장애의 1차 예방을 위한 기초자료를 제시하고자한다. 신체질환이 없는 241 명의 여고생을 대상으로 한국판 청소년용 식이태도 검사(EAT-26KA)를 실시하였다. 심리적 요인 가운데 우울감, 충동성, 공격성을 평가하기 위하여 각각 한국판 Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), 한국판 Barrat Impulsiveness Scale (BIS), 한국판 Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory (BDHI)를 이용하였고 생물학적 요인으로 혈중 콜레스테롤과 중성지방 농도를 측정하였다. 섭식장애 행동에 영향을 미치는 변인을 찾기 위해 식이태도를 종속변인으로 하고 각각의 심리학적 변인들과 생물학적 변인을 독립변인으로 하여 단계적 중다회귀분석을 한 결과, 섭식장애 행동은 BDHI가 가장 잘 설명하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 그 다음으로는 BDI, 콜레스테롤/중성지방의 순으로 유의미한 예측변인이었다.

Effect of Customers' Psychological Power on Service Expectation and Response to Service Failure in a Restaurant Context

  • Purpose: The old axion to put the customers first (e.g., customers are king, customers are always right) has been taken for granted in the service sector. In addition, many companies in South Korea are providing customer-first education for employees at their contact points to strengthen their competitiveness. However, excessive increase in the psychological power of the customer can lead to a problem of abuse of power, called 'Gap-jil.' Despite these concerns, most companies hardly discard policies to give high priority to customers because of the assumption that it enhances customer satisfaction leading to organizational performance. However, in recent years, some franchise catering companies have posted warnings about the abuse of power by customers, and a movement to pursue a power-balancing between service providers and their customers is spreading. Research design, data, and methodology: This research is conducted to reconsider the principle of the customer-first perspective and to create a basis for arguments that can solve the problem of abuse of power, which is recognized as a serious social problem. In this research, we test and analyze the effect of customers' psychological power in the context of a restaurant on expectation for service and response to service failure. Result: The result of an experimental study shows that the effect of psychological power on customer satisfaction can be somewhat negative. Also, customers with high psychological power are more likely to have high service expectations. Especially high psychological power of customers causes a difference in the expectation level of human factors such as employee attitude, while the difference in expectations of non-human factors such as restaurant atmosphere was not statistically significant. In addition, when customers with high psychological power encounter service failure situation, they are more likely to feel disappointment and regret with a service provider. Meanwhile, the effect of psychological power on complaining behaviors are not significant. Conclusions: The findings of this research provide meaningful implications that the service providers should reconsider their existing corporate culture and management policies that put customers first. In addition, the result of this research is provided meaningful opportunities to review the management philosophy for the company's customers and the education philosophy for the employee education.

여행사 종사자의 매너리즘과 심리적 자본의 관계 연구 -서번트 리더십의 조절효과를 중심으로- (A Study on the Relationship between Mannerism of Employees in Travel Agency and Psychological Capital -Focused on Regulating Effect of Servant Leadership-)

  • 여행사는 다양한 관광산업 중에서도 인적의존도가 높은 산업으로써 인적자원관리의 중요성이 중대한 경영문제로 취급되고 있는데, 특히 최근에 종사자들이 매너리즘을 경험하고 개인의 심리적자본이 위축되고 있어 이를 극복하고 조직성과를 극대화할 수 있는 방안이 절실하다. 이에 본 연구는 여행사 종사자의 매너리즘 극복과 심리적자본 배양을 위한 관리자 서번트리더십의 필요성과 중요성 및 활용 방향을 제시하고자 하였으며, 이를 위하여 서울특별시 일반여행업종사자 중 163명의 표본분석을 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 여행사 종사자의 매너리즘과 심리적자본과의 관계 분석에서는 무의식적태도 요인만이 희망 및 낙관주의에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 둘째, 서번트 리더십은 매너리즘의 수동적 태도를 개선하여 심리적자본 중 자기효능감, 복원력 및 낙관주의 등을 향상시키는 요소로 검증되었고, 마지막으로 서번트 리더십은 안정감 추구성향의 매너리즘 종사자에게는 복원력을 저하시키는 조절효과를 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과는 여행사 종사자의 심리적태도에 기인하는 매너리즘 관리의 중요성과 관리적 차원의 서번트 리더십의 역할을 규명하는 결과이며, 관련한 후속연구를 통한 여행사 종사자의 매너리즘과 심리적자본에 대한 연구의 질적 향상과 실무적 관점에서 종사자의 매너리즘 개선 및 관리가 필요하다.

소셜네트워크서비스의 기능적 속성과 개인의 심리적 동기요인이 사용자의 정보공유 의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Social Network Service Functional Characteristics and Individual Psychological Motivation Factors on User's Intention of Information Sharing)

  • With the rapidly expanding social network service, the distribution of information shows that social networks have evolved into platforms of communication and new information sharing among users. Previous studies are focused on the motivational factors of information sharing through social networking service. However, in this study, we focus on the factors that affect intention to share information in terms of both user's psychological motivation and functional characteristics of social network service. This study shows that factors such as enjoyfulness, image, identity and communication positively affect the attitude and intention of information sharing.

예비노인과 노인의 삶의 만족에 관한 연구 (Life Satisfaction of Future Elderly and the Elderly)

  • This study is focused on the levels of life satisfaction influenced by the socio-demographic characteristics, personal activities, personal support and psychological characteristics. We surveyed 504 future elderly people(age between 50 to 64) and the elderly(over 65). The results are as follows; First, future elderly people are more satisfied with their life than the elderly. Second, life satisfaction of the future elderly is rarely influenced by the social demographic characteristics. Whereas, life satisfaction of the elderly is more influenced by the socio-demographic characteristics rather than the personal activities. Supports from neighbors and psychological characteristics are more satisfying their lives. Thus, we should come up with new programs providing opportunities to attend various social activities to maximize their life satisfaction of the future elderly. For the elderly, we need systems to build social network for supports from neighbors and to provide more job opportunities and educating programs.

국내 건설근로자의 생산성 관련 중요 요인 도출 및 중요도 조사 (The Productivity and Importance Factors of Workers in Construction Site)

  • Compared to the other industries, construction industry depends many parts of production activities on manpower. And also 3D perception on construction industry and the shortage of motivation in construction workers are the biggest reason to reduce construction productivity. So to solve this problem, the research of factors which affect more to improve the construction workers attitude in construction site will be needed. This research has investigated that the productivity and important factors was divided to economic factors, social factors, psychological factors. The result show that economic factors remain pre-eminent in influencing productivity, but that social factors and psychological factors appear to be of increasing importance in this construction industry.
