Turbulent flow and heat transfer to water at supercritical pressure flowing in vertical pipes is investigated using direct numerical simulation (DNS). A conservative space-time discretization scheme for variable-density flows at low Mach numbers is adopted in the present study to treat steep variations of fluid properties at supercritical pressure just above the thermodynamic critical point. The fluid properties at these conditions are obtained using PROPATH and used in the form of tables in the simulations. The buoyancy influence induced by strong variation of density across the pseudo-critical temperature proved to play an important role in turbulent flow and heat transfer at supercritical state. Depending on the degree of buoyancy influence, turbulent heat transfer may be enhanced or significantly deteriorated, resulting in local hot spots along the heated surface.

This paper presents a watermarking algorithm for embedding visually recognizable pattern (Mark, Logo, Symbol, stamping or signature) into the image. first, the color image(RGB model)is transformed in YCbCr model and then the Y component is transformed into 3-level wavelet transform. Next, the values are assembled with pattern watermark. PN(pseudo noise) code at spread spectrum communication method and mutilevel watermark weights. This values are inserted into discrete wavelet domain. In our scheme, new calculating method is designed to calculate wavelet transform with integer value in considering the quantization error. and we used the color conversion with fixed-point arithmetic to be easy to make the hardware hereafter. Also, we made the new solution using mutilevel threshold to robust to common signal distortions and malicious attack, and to enhance quality of image in considering the human visual system. the experimental results showed that the proposed watermarking algorithm was superior to other similar water marking algorithm. We showed what it was robust to common signal processing and geometric transform such as brightness. contrast, filtering. scaling. JPEG lossy compression and geometric deformation.
A new Pareto-optimal design algorithm, requiring least computational work, is proposed for a single phase AC solenoid actuator with multi-design-objectives: maximizing holding force and minimizing eddy current loss simultaneously. In the algorithm, the design space is successively reduced by a suitable factor, as iteration repeats, with the center of pseudo-optimal point. At each iteration, the objective functions are approximated to a simple second-order response surface with the CCD sampling points generated within the reduced design space, and Pareto-optimal solutions are obtained by applying($1+{\lambda}$) evolution strategy with the fitness values of Pareto strength.
In this paper, we consider and introduce some new concepts of the biconvex functions involving an arbitrary bifunction and function. Some new relationships among various concepts of biconvex functions have been established. We have shown that the optimality conditions for the general biconvex functions can be characterized by a class of bivariational-like inequalities. Auxiliary principle technique is used to propose proximal point methods for solving general bivariational-like inequalities. We also discussed the conversance criteria for the suggested methods under pseudo-monotonicity. Our method of proof is very simple compared with methods. Several special cases are discussed as applications of our main concepts and results. It is a challenging problem to explore the applications of the general bivariational-like inequalities in pure and applied sciences.
In this study, two types of fatigue tests were conducted. First, cyclic bending tests were performed using the micro-bending tester. A four-point bending test method was adopted, because it induces uniform stress fields within a loading span. Second, thermal fatigue tests were conducted using a pseudo power cycling machine which was newly developed for a realistic testing condition. The pseudo-power cycling method makes up for the weak points in a power cycling and a chamber cycling method. Two compositions of solder are tested in all test condition, one is lead-free solder (95.5Sn4.0Ag0.5Cu) and the other is eutectic lead-contained solder (63Sn37Pb). In the cyclic bending test, the solder that exhibits a good reliability can be reversed depending on the load conditions. The lead-contained solders have a longer fatigue life in the region where the applied load is high. On the contrary, the lead-free solder sustained more cyclic loads in the small load region. A similar trend was detected at the thermal cycling test. A three-dimensional finite element analysis model was constructed. A finite element analysis using ABAQUS was performed to extract the applied stress and strain in the solder joints. A constitutive model which includes both creep and plasticity was employed. Thermal fatigue was occurred due to the creep. And plastic deformation is main damage for bending failure. From the inelastic energy dissipation per cycle versus fatigue life curve, it can be found that the bending fatigue life is longer than the thermal fatigue life.

LiDAR system has become a popular tool for generating 3D surface data such as Digital Surface Model. Extraction of valuable information, such as digital building models, from LiDAR data has been an attractive research subject. This research addresses to extract planar patches from LiDAR data. Planar patches are important primitives consisting of man-made objects such as buildings. In order to determine the best fitted planes, this research proposed a method to reduce/eliminate the impact of the outliers and the intersection areas of two planes. After finishing plane fitting, planar patches are segmented by pseudo color values which are calculated by determined three plane parameters for each LiDAR point. In addition, a segmentation procedure is conducted using the pseudo color values to find planar patches. This paper evaluates the feasibility of the proposed method using both airborne and terrestrial LiDAR data.
This study examined the adsorption of a synthetic cutting fluid and cutting fluid effluent on chitosan and SDS-modified chitosan, Chitosan and SDS-modified chitosan were prepared in form of beads and fibers. A series of batch experiments were carried out as a function of the initial concentration of cutting fluid, contact time and pH of the fluid. The contact angle study suggested that the SDS-modified chitosan was more hydrophobic than chitosan. The Zeta potential study showed that chitosan, SDS-modified chitosan and synthetic cutting fluid had a point of zero charge (PZC) at pH 7.8, 9 and 3.2, respectively. SDS-modified chitosan has a greater adsorption capacity than chitosan. The experimental results show that adsorption capacity of the cutting fluid on 1.0 g of SDS-modified chitosan at pH 3 and for a contact time of 120 min was approximately 2,500 g/kg. The adsorption capacity of chitosan and SDS-modified chitosan increased with decreasing pH. The Langmuir, Freundlich, and Brunauer Emmett and Teller (BET) adsorption models were used to explain the adsorption isotherm. The Langmuir isotherm fitted well with the experimental data of chitosan while the BET isotherm fitted well with the SDS-modified chitosan data. Pseudo first- and second-order kinetic models and intraparticle diffusion model were used to examine the kinetic data. The experimental data was fitted well to a pseudo second-order kinetic model. The significant uptake of cutting fluid on chitosan and SDS-modified chitosan were demonstrated by FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM and heat of combustion.

Due to advancements in technology and manufacturing capability, it is not uncommon that life tests yield no or few failures at low stress levels. In these situations it is difficult to analyse lifetime data and make meaningful inferences about product or system reliability. For some products or systems whose performance characteristics degrade over time, a failure is said to have occurred when a performance characteristic crosses a critical threshold. The measurements of the degradation characteristic contain much useful and credible information about product or system reliability. Degradation measurements of the performance characteristics of an unfailed unit at different times can directly relate reliability measures to physical characteristics. Reliability prediction based on physical performance measures can be an efficient and alternative method to estimate for some highly reliable parts or systems. If the degradation process and the distance between the last measurement and a specified threshold can be established, the remaining useful life is predicted in advance. In turn, this prediction leads to just in time maintenance decision to protect systems. In this paper, we describe techniques for mapping product or system which has degrading performance parameter to the associated classical reliability measures in the performance domain. This paper described a general modeling and analysis procedure for reliability prediction based on one dominant degradation performance characteristic considering pseudo degradation performance life trend model. This pseudo degradation trend model is based on probability modeling of a failure mechanism degradation trend and comparison of a projected distribution to pre-defined critical soft failure point in time or cycle.

Precise Point Positioning (PPP) algorithms using GPS code pseudo-range measurements were developed and their accuracy was validated for the purpose of implementing them on a portable device. The group delay, relativistic effect, and satellite-antenna phase center offset models were applied as fundamental corrections for PPP. GPS satellite orbit and clock offsets were taken from the International GNSS Service official products which were interpolated using the best available algorithms. Tropospheric and ionospheric delays were obtained by applying mapping functions to the outputs from scientific GPS data processing software and Global Ionosphere Maps, respectively. When the developed algorithms were tested for four days of data, the horizontal and vertical positioning accuracies were 0.8-1.6 and 1.6-2.2 meters, respectively. This level of performance is comparable to that of Differential GPS, and further improvements and fine-tuning of this suite of PPP algorithms and its implementation at a portable device should be utilized in a variety of surveying and Location-Based Service applications.

In this paper, we present an algorithm that identifies artillery type and rapidly predicts the impact point based on the IMM filter. The ballistic trajectory equation is used as a system model, and three models with different ballistic coefficient values are used. Acceleration was divided into three components of gravity, air resistance, and lift. And lift acceleration was added as a new state variable. The kinematic condition that the velocity vector and lift acceleration are perpendicular was used as a pseudo-measurement value. The impact point was predicted based on the state variable estimated through the IMM filter and the ballistic coefficient of the model with the highest mode probability. Instead of the commonly used Runge-Kutta numerical integration for impact point prediction, a semi-analytic method was used to predict impact point with a small amount of calculation. Finally, a state variable initialization method using the least-square method was proposed. An integrated algorithm including artillery type identification, impact point prediction and initialization was presented, and the validity of the proposed method was verified through simulation.
