  • This paper tried to apply psychosocial factors in industrial safety research. Since Zohar's(1980) publication of safety climate in the field of safety research, this approach have been done by many researchers. Here, this paper reviewed the relationship between safety climate factors(safety rule, prevention, superior attitude, social support) and safety compliance, and the moderating effects of work condition, required skill and age. Based on the responses from 233 employees in Kangwon province industry, hierarchical regressional analysis showed that all safety climate factors(safety rule, prevention, superior attitude, social support) have positive relationship with safety compliance. Safety rule appeared to be more positively related with safety compliance, while work condition is more favorable and worker is older. But social support appeared to be more positively with safety compliance, while work condition is more unfavorable, and also prevention appeared to be more positively with safety compliance, while worker is more younger.

  • The objective of this study is to identify the individual characteristics and the elements of social capital hence a suitable design of social capital reinforcement can be proposed to promote a sustainable community-based mangrove management. The research conducted in three villages that were selected based on mangrove ecological differences in Lampung Province, Indonesia. Qualitative data was collected through field observation and in-depth interviews with key informants. The results showed that the population in the three villages dominated on productive ages, worked as farmers, and less educated (only a half of the population had fulfilled the basic education standard of Indonesia). The study results also indicated that the social capital in the communities showed minimum condition of interpersonal attachment and cooperation. This condition was derived from the attitude of the people who only took personal benefit without concerning to others' welfare. Many programs conducted by government to ensure the conservation of mangroves were project-oriented with minor participation of community. The minor participation might also contributed to the minimum of social capital in the community. To improve social capital, the communities should strengthen mutual trust based on mutual benefit to increase members' participation in mangrove activity.

  • Some part of the route in KEPCO 765kV transmission line being constructed passes through a high mountain area which is 800m above the sea level (Taebaek, Sabuk area in Gangwon province). This area is the top part of Taebaek mountains corresponding to the backbone of korean peninsula and has lots of snow during the winter season because the winter seasonal wind gone up along the mountainside of Taebaek Mts. meets open air of the East sea. KEPCO has experienced 63 faults of T/L between 1968 and 1993 in this area, which is a very serious problem. Especially 154kV Hwang-Ji T/L fault in 1990, 2 was a unprecedented case which needs to be analyzed carefully to take proper measures. After reviewing ice and snow loading conditions and analyzing the fault of Hwang-Ji T/L, we're going to determine the revisement of ice and snow loading condition in this area to increase reliability of 765kV transmission line.

  • In this paper, we prove that if a metric measure space satisfies the volume doubling condition and the Hardy type inequality with the same exponent n ($n{\geq}3$), then it has exactly the n-dimensional volume growth. Besides, three interesting applications of this fact have also been given. The first one is that we prove that complete noncompact smooth metric measure space with non-negative weighted Ricci curvature on which the Hardy type inequality holds with the best constant are isometric to the Euclidean space with the same dimension. The second one is that we show that if a complete n-dimensional Finsler manifold of nonnegative n-Ricci curvature satisfies the Hardy type inequality with the best constant, then its flag curvature is identically zero. The last one is an interesting rigidity result, that is, we prove that if a complete n-dimensional Berwald space of non-negative n-Ricci curvature satisfies the Hardy type inequality with the best constant, then it is isometric to the Minkowski space of dimension n.
