  • We are concerned with whether a vertically integrated broadband and content provider can unreasonably advantage itself over competing content providers, either by selling quality-of-service (QoS) to content providers at unreasonably high prices, or by refusing to provide access to QoS to competing content. We address this question by modeling the competition between one such vertically integrated provider and one over-the-top (OTT) content provider. The broadband provider decides whether to deploy QoS, and if so it also determines the QoS price if sold to either the OTT content provider or directly to users. We analytically determine when the broadband provider will sell QoS and when the OTT content provider or users will purchase QoS. We characterize the optimal QoS and video service prices. The Internet service provider (ISP)'s market share increases with the difference in the value of the two video services and decreases with the difference in the corresponding costs. Numerical results illustrate the effect of QoS price on content price, the variation of prices and profit with QoS price, and the variation of prices and market shares with the benefit of QoS. The ISP may sell QoS to users at a lower price than when QoS is sold to the OTT provider.

  • Purpose: In the meantime, studies on the measurement methods of service quality have mainly been conducted in views of the service recipients. In this study, we introduce a co-orientation model that compares the perceptions of service provider and recipient and examine the applicability in service quality field. Methods: In this study, we conducted a case study on the specific service called 'National R&D Project Plan Evaluation Service' to examine the applicability of the co-orientation model in the service quality field. Results: We could identify the phenomenon of how service providers and recipients perceive differently about specific services introduced in the case study. This study confirms that it can be used to identify problems in mutually oriented service quality activities and to take practical measures to improve them. As we have seen in this case study, the co-orientation model is expected to be of great help in exploring opportunities for quality improvement in the area of service quality. Conclusion: The service quality co-orientation model allows the service provider to distinguish between what they think of differently with the service recipient and what they have in common, so the service provider will be able to find the agenda of service quality improvement.

  • Purpose: Methods for increasing health-care service quality are considered for a women-centered hospital located on a local city. A walk-through audit is applied to uncover areas for improvement. Methods: A survey questionnaire with 25 questions is constructed based on a service blueprint for a walk-through audit, and a survey is conducted both to patients and service providers to assess a health-care service quality. Frequency analysis, statistical tests and customer-provider analysis are used to analyze surveyed data. Results: According to customer-provider analysis, 6 attributes belong to 'problem unawareness' zone in which they are rated high by service providers but low by patients, and another 6 attributes belong to 'problem awareness' zone in which they are rated low by both groups. These attributes are considered to be improved with priority. Conclusion: Both patient group and service provider group have lots of different perceptions on most attributes that are examined, and the hospital to be studied is, in general, competitive in technical quality and less competitive in functional quality.

Three dimensional aspects of quality of social work service - structure, process, and outcome were selected as dependent variables in this study. Also the quality of social work service was distributed into provider-perceiving quality and consumer-perceiving quality The major findings were as following in summary; First, most social workers reported that the characteristic of culture in their hospitals are group culture the first, hierarchial culture the second, developmental culture the third, and rational culture finally in order of comparing the level of quality perceived between social worker's recognition. Second, service provider and consumer, The provider-perceiving quality showed less score than that of consumer, especially the lowest was the score of quality of outcome perceived by provider. Third, according to the types of organizational culture, there were significantly different levels of quality in total social work services, structure dimension and process dimension. The quality of outcome dimension did not show significant differences among the type of organizational culture. Finally, the most influential variables to the quality of social work service ice proved departmental form of social work unit, leader of social work unit, and developmental culture of hospital To assure quality services, accordingly, social work unit in hospital is required to be organized as a single unit, that means to be an independent department of which qualified social worker is supposed to control the unit.
