A Proposal for Zoom-in/out View Streaming based on Object Information of Free Viewpoint Video

  • Free viewpoint video (FVV) service is an immersive media service that allows a user to watch it from a desired location or viewpoint. It is composed of various forms according to the direction of the viewpoint of the provided video, and includes zoom in/out in the service. As consumers' demand for active watching is increasing, the importance of FVV services is expected to grow gradually. However, additional considerations are needed to seamlessly stream FVV service. FVV includes a plurality of videos, video changes may occur frequently due to movement of the viewpoint. Frequent occurrence of video switching or re-request another video can cause service delay and it also can lower user's quality of service (QoS). In this case, we assumed that if a video showing an object that the user wants to watch is selected and provided, it is highly likely to meet the needs of the viewer. In particular, it is important to provide an object-oriented FVV service when zooming in. When video zooming in in the usual way, it cannot be guaranteed to zoom in around the object. Zoom function does not consider about video viewing. It only considers the viewing screen size and it crop the video view as fixed screen location. To solve this problem, we propose a zoom in/out method of object-centered dynamic adaptive streaming of FVV in this paper. Through the method proposed in this paper, users can enjoy the optimal video service because they are provided with the desired object-based video.

산업분야 정보서비스에 있어서 정보분석의 문제 (Information analysis for industrial information service)

  • This study attempts to provide the foundation that KINITI and industrial su n.0, pporting organizations can be strong information analysis centers if they fortify their information analysis activities. The following conclusions are resulted from the analysis in the state-of-the-art-report covered in national information flow system, service methods and their publications of the information analysis activities provided by the KINITI and industrial su n.0, pporting organizations. First, the KINITI and industrial su n.0, pporting organizations have not be acquiring enough information materials. The services for bibliographic information should guarantee the uses of original documents. Second, the number of organizations providing on-line information services has been increasing, but the provided materials are not sufficiently suited for user's requests. Third, the speedy information provision and efficient information dissemination for the end users in the long distance may be possible through on-line service, but it requires information analysis procedure to select the necessary information in our industrial environment. Forth, the information activities provided by the libraries of industrial su n.0, pporting organizations should be fortified.

  • 유비쿼터스 시대에는 우리 주변에 산재하는 수많은 스마트 객체들이 끊임없이 방대한 양의 센서 데이터를 생성해 낸다. 인터넷이 널리 보급됨에 따라 인터넷으로 연결된 정보의 바다로부터 유용한 정보를 찾는데 도움을 주는 인터넷 정보 검색 엔진이 등장한 것처럼, 스마트 객체가 생성한 센서 데이터로부터 우리 삶을 윤택하게 하는데 활용될 정보를 추출하여 응용 서비스에 전달하는 일을 함으로써 유비쿼터스 서비스를 개발하는데 도움을 주는 센서 데이터 스트림 처리 미들웨어들이 등장하고 있다. 이러한 센서 데이터 스트림 처리 미들웨어를 이용하여 유비쿼터스 서비스를 사람들에게 제공하기 위해서는 제공될 서비스와 관련된 정보를 미들웨어에게 알려 주어야 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 센서 데이터를 이용하는 유비쿼터스 서비스를 나타내는데 필요한 정보를 구분하고, 이를 효과적으로 표현하는 컨텍스트 드리븐 서비스 마크업 언어를 제안한다. 제안하는 컨텍스트 드리븐 서비스 마크업 언어를 이용하면 다양한 상황에서 제공되어야 하는 다양한 유비쿼터스 서비스를 쉽게 표현할 수 있다.

LG 데이콤의 차세대인터넷(IPv6) 기반 VoIP 시범서비스에 대한 연구 (A Study on the deployment of IPv6 based VoIP trial service provided by LG Dacom)

  • This paper describes a IPv6 trial service provided by LG DACOM and discusses about the output of trial service. MIC has urged public organizations to introduce IPv6 technology into their network. As one of propelling policies, MIC and NIA launched some IPv6 trial project. LG DACOM, MIC's agent in doing IPv6 trial project, has selected three public organizations in order to deploy IPv6 based VoIP trial service. KMA, KISITI and MND gave out their different service requirements. In achieve this project we developed IPv6 supported voice IP phone, video IP phone, media gateway and IP-PBX. Furthermore, two KMA provincial offices adopted trial IP phone as working phone and replaced legacy PBX with IP-PBX. At the same time, public organizations introduced IPv6 technology into their local networks.

시각장애 사용자를 위한 웹 기반 교육서비스 구현 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Web-based Education Service for the Blind)

  • The rapid development of information and communication technologies has resulted in rapid increase in the qualitative and quantitative information that can be accessed by information technology. Furthermore an enormous amount of information is provided in various formats. However, there are a group of people who are not able to even approach to targeted information due to physical or environmental problems. Visually handicapped users constitute a class of these users. In this paper, a method of developing user interface for web-based education service is described for the visually handicapped users to access information more efficiently. First, this paper analyzed the problems of visually handicapped users to access information targeting representative domestic sites that supply education services. And based on the results of the above analyses, Nest, this paper explains the web-based education service interface implementation method according to types of the content to be delivered. Lastly, the validity of this method is provided by testing a web page based on the implementation method according to the types of content.

Charging and Revenue Estimation for the WiMAX System

  • In the near future it is foreseen that a genuine multimedia service over the WiMAX system is provided in a worldwide manner by exploiting the QoS technologies introduced in the wireless and wired broadband network. In this work we propose a pricing scheme for the multimedia service over the generic WiMAX system that supports a full QoS functionality. We assume real-time services such as the voice and video as well as the nonreal-time service such as the conventional high-speed data, and we propose a pricing and charging scheme for those services by investigating the inherent characteristics of those services and the multiple-class of QoS-service provided to them. After that we propose a method to compute expected revenue that is obtained from the WiMAX system by using an analytic method to estimate the usage of the bandwidth resources for the different class of services. Via numerical experiment, we verify the implication of the work.

재가와상노인 서비스제공 모델 개발을 위한 연구 (Development of an Urban Community Based Comprehensive Service Model for Bed-Ridden Elderly)

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify the ADL and IADL of bed-ridden elderly. Also it is used to show fuctional status, and to investigate the content and the level of nursing services provided. Method: The subjects were 191 elderly who received visiting nurse service through public health centers in the Seoul Metopolitan and Chungnam Province. Data collection was conducted by public health center nurses during four months in 2000. Result: As for daily living activities, 100% of subjects had at least one difficulty in ADL and IADL. Among them, only 0.5% had moderate disabilities and 99.5% had severe disabilities by HFS, 27.9% were in a semi bed-ridden state and 72.1% were completely bed-ridden by JABC. The major service provided was a visiting nurse service which was preferable to the social welfare service. In the visiting nurse service, there was no significant difference according to the elderlys' functional status. In addition there was no standadization about the qualification of the visiting nurse, and single entry point for the nursing service. Conclusion: The researchers urgently suggest that a community based comprehensive service model has to be developed to respond to the needs of the elderly in Korea.

  • 인터넷은 기업의 운영과 경쟁방식을 송두리째 바꾸어 놓고 있다. 특히, 화훼유통 서비스를 급격히 진화시켰을 뿐만 아니라, 화훼소매점간 경쟁방식 자체를 변화시켰고 IT 서비스 제공자간 경쟁도 치열해지고 있다. 본 연구는 화훼소매점이 IT 서비스를 통해 화훼유통 서비스의 비즈니스 측면과 정보기술 측면에서 어떻게 진화하고 대응했는지 살펴보고자 한다. 또한, IT 서비스 제공자 측면에서 IT 서비스 위치 선정을 TPS(Typhoon Positioning Strategy) 관점에서 살펴보고자 한다. IT 서비스 제공업자는 높은 IT 역량을 기반으로 서비스 위치가 고객의 핵심 비즈니스(core business)에 위치하고 솔루션 수준에서 제공해야 높은 비즈니스 가치를 창출할 수 있고 지속적인 서비스의 제공이 가능하게 된다. IT 서비스 위치화 전략인 Typhoon Positioning Strategy(TPS)는 화훼유통 서비스의 비즈니스 진화방향, IT 서비스 트렌드, 그리고 사용자의 IT역량 수준을 고려해서 Business Process-Service Model을 가지고 IT 서비스 위치를 선정해야 한다는 것을 말하고 있다. 즉, IT 서비스 제공자는 자사에 적합한 IT 서비스 위치를 선정함에 있어서 먼저 고객의 핵심 비즈니스를 파악하여 솔루션 수준에서 IT 서비스를 제공해야 한다. 물론 솔루션 사용자의 IT 역량을 고려한 서비스 수준도 고려해야 할 중요한 요소이다. TPS 관점에서 고려해야 할 원칙으로 4가지를 제시했다. 원칙1: 제공하는 IT 서비스의 Solution Map 보유, 원칙2: 제공하는 IT 서비스가 고객의 핵심비즈니스를 지원, 원칙3: 제공하는 IT 서비스는 단위기능 수준이 아닌 솔루션 수준, 그리고 원칙4: 사용자(즉, 화훼소매점)의 IT 역량을 고려한 차등화 서비스 제공 등이다.

경남 일부지역 중학생의 학교급식에서 제공되는 수산식품 섭취실태 및 기호도에 관한 조사 연구 (Middle School Students' Intakes of and Preferences for Seafoods Provided by School Food Service in Gyeongnam Area)

  • This study was investigated seafoods provided by school food service and students' preferences for and perceptions of seafoods. The subjects were 275 second grade(age 14-16) students of 4 middle schools in Gyeongnam. The results were as follows. The most main seafoods intake place was 'home'(65.8%). 'School food service' took meaningful ratio(20.7%) of students' seafoods intakes. In the intake amount of seafoods provided by school food service, 'all' took 22.5%(male 31.6%, female 14.1%), 'more than provided' took 1.5%(male 3.0%, female 0%). Male students ate seafoods more than female students did(p<.001). In seafoods providing frequency, '2~3 times a week' took 74.5%, '4~5 times a week' took higher ratio in males' schools, while '0~1 times a week' took higher ratio in females'(p<.05). In perceptions of seafoods, most subjects had positive perceptions as 'good for health'(3.95), 'various kinds'(3.75) except 'good peculiar smell' got smallest point(2.85). In means of learning about seafoods names, 'by looking at everyday menu' took 64.6%. In taking nutrition education, 'no nutrition education' took 69.5%. In preferences for seafoods using 5-point scale, males' preferences were higher than females'(p<.001). 48.1% of males got higher than 4 point, while 14.1% of females did. In improvement measures of seafoods, 'provide various kinds'(47.3%) took highest ratio. In preferences for seafoods by seafoods kinds, preference for 'crustacean' was highest while preferences for 'shell fish' and 'fish' were relatively low. Both male and female students highly preferred laver, shrimp, swimming crab, small octopus, fish cake and tuna canned goods. Male students' preferences were higher than female students' for most kinds of seafoods. In preferences for seafoods by cooking methods, preferences for 'grilled', 'stir fried', 'pan fried' were relatively high, 'braised', 'deep fried', 'steamed' were relatively low. Males' preferences were higher than females' for every cooking method except 'steamed'.

Snack Provision Practice in Long-Term Care Hospitals and Facilities in Korea

  • The study aimed to investigate the basic data to derive plans for snack provision to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities (LFs) or long-term care hospitals (LHs). The 252 respondents (118 from LHs and 134 from LFs) were included in the study. The questionnaire of nationwide cross-sectional survey was developed by the authors and registered dietitians. The written questionnaire was sent to the food service managers across 800 LFs or LHs. The online survey was introduced using the online platform and network site for dietitians. More than 70% of live-in and non-live-in LFs provided snacks, which were mainly provided one to two times a day. Most institutions provided fruits one to three times a week. The main considerations when providing fruit were in the order of residents' preference, cost, and ease of consumption. The reasons for not serving fruit included cost and differences in the residents' eating and mastication abilities. Most institutions also provided dairy products at a frequency of one to three times a week. The reasons for not serving dairy products included cost and the lack of awareness of the need to provide them. To improve the quality of life and the offer benefits of fruits and dairy products to older people, efforts are needed to propose a plan to expand the provision of snacks in appropriate quantities and varieties.
