  • Gate protection $SiN_x$ as an alternative to a conventional re-oxidation process in Dynamic Random Access Memory devices is investigated. This process can not only protect the gate electrode tungsten against oxidation, but also save the thermal budget due to the re-oxidation. The protection $SiN_x$ process is applied to the poly-Si gate, and its device performance is measured and compared with the re-oxidation processed poly-Si gate. The results on the gate dielectric integrity show that etch damage-curing capability of protection $SiN_x$ is comparable to the re-oxidation process. In addition, the hot carrier immunity of the $SiN_x$ deposited gate is superior to that of re-oxidation processed gate.

  • This paper discusses comparative analysis of the effects of surge protection devices (SPD) upon the power line communication channels. The quality of the data transmission channel is measured based on the data rate for the various channel parameters which include channel length and application method of the lightning protection device. The performance measurements are also carried out for various lengths of the communication channel. Experiment results show that specific combination of SPDs applied in the network causes severe degradation of the channel quality which is associated with the combination of grade levels and channel lengths.

  • This is to study installation standards of aspirating devices and detectors, which are components of ADS(aspirating fire detection system). The BFPSA(British Fire Protection System Association) code was mainly referred is studying. ADS aspirated air and smoke through the pipe and then checks if there is fire or not. It is now in the limelight because it can early alarm in case of fire and prevent false-alarming.

  • A fully integrated inline OLED production system is presented. The performance of PLED devices that are encapsulated with a thin film multilayer stack are compared to conventionally encapsulated devices with glas/dessicant protection. The observed luminance decay is the same in both cases. The lifetime performance of the thin film encapsulation is measured and critical parameters are discussed. The first smOLED devices produced on the OTB equipment are presented and comparison with other smOLED devices shows very good results.

  • We propose to design a Holochain-based security and privacy protection system for resource-constrained IoT healthcare systems. Through analysis and performance evaluation, the proposed system confirmed that these characteristics operate effectively in the IoT healthcare environment. The system proposed in this paper consists of four main layers aimed at secure collection, transmission, storage, and processing of important medical data in IoT healthcare environments. The first PERCEPTION layer consists of various IoT devices, such as wearable devices, sensors, and other medical devices. These devices collect patient health data and pass it on to the network layer. The second network connectivity layer assigns an IP address to the collected data and ensures that the data is transmitted reliably over the network. Transmission takes place via standardized protocols, which ensures data reliability and availability. The third distributed cloud layer is a distributed data storage based on Holochain that stores important medical information collected from resource-limited IoT devices. This layer manages data integrity and access control, and allows users to share data securely. Finally, the fourth application layer provides useful information and services to end users, patients and healthcare professionals. The structuring and presentation of data and interaction between applications are managed at this layer. This structure aims to provide security, privacy, and resource efficiency suitable for IoT healthcare systems, in contrast to traditional centralized or blockchain-based systems. We design and propose a Holochain-based security and privacy protection system through a better IoT healthcare system.

  • The electronic equipment which is exposed to high level pulsed radiation is damaged by Upset, Latchup, and Burnout. Those damages come from the instantaneous photocurrent from electron-hole pairs generated in itself. Such damages appear as losses of a power in military weapon system or as a blackout in aerospace equipment and eventually caused in gross loss of national power. In this paper, we have implemented a RDC(Radiation detection and control module) as a part of the radiation protection technology of the electronic equipment or devices from the pulsed gamma radiation. The RDC, which is composed of pulsed gamma-ray detection sensor, signal processors, and pulse generator, is designed to protect the an important electronic circuits from the a pulse radiation. To verify the functionality of the RDC, LM118s, which had damaged by the pulse radiation, were tested. The test results showed that the test sample applied with the RDC was worked well in spite of the irradiation of a pulse radiation. Through the experiments we could confirm that the radiation protection technology implemented with the RDC had the functionality of radiation protection for the electronic devices.

  • Recently, several kinds of superconductivity applications are implemented and evaluated in the utility power networks. The protection system for HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) power devices safe operation has not been established yet. For the protection of the HTS apparatus, a better understanding of the quench properties against fault current and appropriate protection devices are required. In this study, an algorithm of protection system is developed with respect to HTS power cable. The protection system of HTS power cable was analyzed in the simulated power system. Results obtained from simulation will provide much more decisive data in order to design a certain superconducting power device, and can give a good information for the installation in power system.

  • It is currently increasing to use surge protection devices in the protection of various electronic circuits from the transient overvoltages such as lightning strikes and switching surges. For this reason, the simulation methods, which can easily predict the protection performance of the devices, are strongly required in order to design the adequate surge protection circuits in lightning surge cut-off performance and economic aspects. This paper deals with ZnO varistor modeling method for designing a surge protection circuit and suggests the Pspice simulation model which takes the characteristic of varying clamping voltage into consideration during the time-to-crest, in range of $8{\sim}30{\mu}s$, of surge current applied to a ZnO varistor. The ZnO varistor Pspice simulation data introduced in this paper has produced almost same values as the measured results experimentally.

  • In multi-GHz RF ICs and high-speed digital interfaces, ESD protection devices introduce considerable parasitic capacitance and resistance to inputs and outputs, thereby degrading the RF performance, such as input/output matching, gain, and noise figure. In this paper, the impact of ESD protection devices on the performance of RF ICs is investigated and design methodologies to minimize this impact are discussed. With RF and ESD test results, the 'RF/ESD co-design' method is discussed and compared to the conventional RF ESD protection method which focuses on minimizing the device size.
