  • ISO 13784-1 sandwich panel tests were conducted by FILK, KICT in Korea, SP in Sweden and CSIRO in Australia. Sandwich panels composed of steel sheets, EPS and glass wool supplied by FILK were tested. Mainly heat release rate was compared and equality of distribution also analyzed on the point of statistical view based on ISO.

  • The unequal bit-error-probability of rate r=b/n binary convolutional code is analyzed. The error protection affored each digit of the b-tuple information word can be different from that afforded other digit. The property of the unequal protection can be applied to transmitting sampled data in PCM system.

  • A room-corner fire scenario of ISO 9705 with flame spread model developed by Quintiere is applied to the interior finish materials to show the sensitivity of properties derived from AST, E-1321 and ASTM E-1354 is investigated and various range of thermal properties by the author were analyzed in the model. There are including flame heat flux and thermal inertia, lateral flame spread parameter, heat of combustion and effective heat of gasfication. The time for total energy release rate to reach 1MW is examined. Though some areas are neede for improvements, The model appears to predict good results with all the range of input properties and could be

  • Preferred orientation of MgO protection layer is controlled via adjusting diffusion of adatom between (111) plane with highest neighbor atoms and (200) plane with lowest neighbor atoms. The diffusion of adatom could be modulated by the factors such as substrate temperature, deposition rate, and extra energy applied on adatom like ion beam energy.

  • Efficiency calibration is a fundamental procedure in gamma spectrometric measurement. Experimental technique for efficiency calibration transfer in gamma spectrometer along different geometries and volumes has been developed and validated in this work. The developed technique offers simple and easy procedures to overcome several problems encountered in efficiency calibration of gamma spectrometer such as rate-related correction and different sample volumes. The validation shows that application of the developed technique has a precision of 95%.

  • The properties of $Al_2O_3$ thermoluminescent phosphor have been observed to apply for gamma dosimetry in vivo. Glow peaks at 380, 420, 490 kelvin temperature with emission in the blue region have been detected and calculated as 1.4 eV the activation energy by means of heat response rising time method. Sensitization and supralinearity in $Al_2O_3$ phosphor could be consistently explained by the deep trap model. Studies of the thermoluminescence growth rate with gamma ray exposure showed linearly to $10^4$ Roentgen and then supralinear rate detected 1.2 power of exposure dose sensitization of $Al_2O_3$ is described five times more than TLD-100 and the fading time is shorter and then tried to apply for gamma dosimetry in vivo.

  • Fault section isolation and service restoration are very important for function of DAS. In Japan, a progressive protection method is used for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration. But the progressive protection method has a drawback that the customer will experience outage time and that the rate in use of the feeder is not over 50%. This paper presents a new Service Restoration Algorithm which is for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration method for a ungrounded distribution system. If the proposed algorithm is used, the rate in use of the feeder can improve than before because a distribution system can change multi connection of feeder and the customer's outage time can be reduced. The proposed algorithm has been successfully tested in a distribution system.

  • The activity concentration of primordial radionuclides i.e., $^{238}U$ series, $^{232}Th$ series and $^{40}K$, in soil samples collected from Udagamandalam environment, have been measured by employing NaI (Tl) Gamma ray Spectrometer. The absorbed gamma dose rate has also been simultaneously measured by using both Environmental Radiation Dosimeter at each soil sampling location (ambient gamma dose) as well as from the gamma dose derived from the activity concentration of the primordial radionuclides. The results of activity concentration of each radio nuclides in soil, absorbed dose rate in air due to soil activity and possible cosmic radiation at each location along with human effective dose equivalent for Udagamandalam environment are presented and discussed.

  • Current methods of myocardial protection has been improved with cardioplegia and hypothermia. We compared St. Thomas hospital cardiopleic solution without oxygenation[Group I], with oxygenation[Group II] and with oxygenation with filter[Group III] under isolated working heart model. Heart rate recovery was more significantly improved in Group II than Group I after 15 minutes of recovery time [p<0.05]. Maximal systolic pressure shows no difference as it increases with time. Cardiac ouputs were not diffrent between groups. Recovery time was shorter significantly in group II and group III than group I [p<0.05] Use of filter showed no difference. As a conclusion, oxygenated cardioplegic solutions improves ability to protect the heart against ischemia and it is manifested by improved recovery time and heart rate.
