  • This study discusses the performance evaluation of queueing network methodologies as used for the planning of FMS production systems. The possibility of applications and utilities of queueing network models is investigated for FMS producton plans. Experimental results by queueing network models such as CAN-Q, MVAQ and results by detailed simulation models written in SIMAN are compared and some propositions are presented based on the results of the experiments.

  • This study uses theoretical perspectives and models from organizational ecology to examine the dynamics and viability of strategic groups. Integrating the ecological perspective and the contingency theoretical view of strategic management, this study developed propositions demonstrating the impact of environmental density and variation on the effectiveness of strategic groups. Justifications for linking ecological perspectives to strategic management theory are discussed and the importance of the integrative approach to strategic management is highlighted.

  • Pythagorean thoerem exists in several equivalent forms in the Euclidean plane, that is, the Hilbert plane which in addition satisfies the parallel axiom. In this article, we investigate the truthness and mutual relationships of those propositions in various non-Hilbert planes which satisfy the parallel axiom and all the Hilbert axioms except the SAS axiom.

  • Population-level learning has traditionally been used to provide an explanation for the underlying mechanism of industry change. But it has yet to examine the impact on strategic decisions such as market entry. This conceptual paper aims to provide an insight into how population-level learning affects entry likelihood by acting as a tool for interpreting population-level changes. We study this in the context of the fast-paced mobile gaming industry where population-level information is salient and develop a set of propositions with regard to the likelihood of entry.

  • The purpose of this study Is to investigate what types of internal capabilities are mainly supported by information system applications that have been introduced in organizations during the last three years, and to examine the relationships between information systems' support on internal capabilities and organizational performance are differed with the organizational size and the type of industry. This study is also to suggest a few research propositions that can be applied to empirical studies dealing with the relationship between organizational performance and information systems' support on organizational capabilities in the future. To accomplish these research purposes, this study performed a survey and 101 responses were used for statistical analysis. The research results are as follows: First information systems' applications introduced into organizations during the most recent 3-year period, were mainly used to support the production/service capability, leading to an improvement of both the product and the service and reinforcement of task efficiency in the organizations. Second the support of information systems' applications on the production and service capability of organizations influenced organizational performance in a positive manner. Third, the relationship between organizational performance and support of information systems on organizational capabilities was partially differed by organizational size and the type of industry, the organization is involved in. Fourth, two research propositions that can be applied for empirical studies in the future were suggested with regard to the relationship between organizational performance and support of information systems on organizational capabilities, based on the statistical analysis.

  • This study analyzes on the reasoning in the process of justification and mathematical problem solving in our primary mathematics textbooks. In our analyses, we found that the inductive reasoning based on the paradima-tic example whose justification is founnded en a local deductive reasoning is the most important characteristics in our textbooks. We also found that some propositions on the properties of various quadrangles impose a deductive reasoning on primary students, which is very difficult to them. The inductive reasoning based on enumeration is used in a few cases, and analogies based on the similarity between the mathematical structures and the concrete materials are frequntly found. The exposition based en a paradigmatic example, which is the most important characteristics, have a problematic aspect that the level of reasoning is relatively low In Miyazaki's or Semadeni's respects. And some propositions on quadrangles is very difficult in Piagetian respects. As a result of our study, we propose that the level of reasoning in primary mathematics is leveled up by degrees, and the increasing levels are following: empirical justification on a paradigmatic example, construction of conjecture based on the example, examination on the various examples of the conjecture's validity, construction of schema on the generality, basic experiences for the relation of implication.

  • We present a system that automatically annotates unverified Web sentences with information from credible sources. The system turns to neural theorem proving for an annotating task for cancer related Wikipedia data (1,486 propositions) with Korean National Cancer Center data (19,304 propositions). By switching the recursive module in a neural theorem prover to a word embedding module, we overcome the fundamental problem of tremendous learning time. Within the identical environment, the original neural theorem prover was estimated to spend 233.9 days of learning time. In contrast, the revised neural theorem prover took only 102.1 minutes of learning time. We demonstrated that a neural theorem prover, which encodes a proposition in a tensor, includes a classic theorem prover for exact match and enables end-to-end differentiable logic for analogous words.

  • Compromise is a conflict-resolution mechanism whereby both parties mutually make concessions and reach an agreement somewhere between their initial positions. In the process of a compromise, both parties may engage in three kinds of behaviors with respect to concessions. First, a party makes a concession in response to another's concession (a positive matching behavior). Second, a party makes a demand in response to another's demand (a negative matching behavior). Third, a party makes a concession/demand in response to another's demand/concession (a mismatching behavior). A situation is considered where a manufacturer intends to resolve a conflict with a distributor using a compromise. In this situation, a conceptual framework is addressed. This framework presents a set of variables affecting the likelihood that given a manufacturer's concession, the distributor engages in a positive matching behavior, Then, the framework explains how this positive matching behavior affects the distributor's commitment to the relationship with the manufacturer. Seventeen propositions are derived from the conceptual framework. Discussions on conflict-resolution strategies are developed on the basis of this framework.

  • The function of history is divided into two: justification and reflection. Justification confers causality on the consequences of history, and thereby putting emphasis on the inevitability of present. From the perspective of reflection, on the other hand, history is what is selected from several possibilities, and in this respect, present is not necessarily inevitable. The former is conservative; the latter, reformative. History, however, takes both of the functions. History reproduces a community by preserving memories of the community through a record, and leads to the evolution of a community through reflection. Emerged in the precess of industrialization, Korean design, despite its relatively short history, is witnessing a growing desire to prove its existence through history. While, it is also noteworthy that there is an increasing interest in looking at the history of Korean design from the perspective of reflection. I propose four propositions necessary to study of the history of Korean design. They are as follow; 1) History is interpretation; 2) The history of the institution should be overcome; 3) A simplifying progressive view of history should be restrained; 4) Foundation for study should be established.
