A Study on the Characteristics of Flames in a Valve Driven Oscillating Combustion Burner (밸브 구동 진동연소기의 화염특성 연구)

  • The flame patterns were investigated in an oscillating combustion burner equipped with a proportioning valve. The proportioning valve is driven by a solenoid and has an elastomer part which controls the valve opening area. For characterizing the valve, nozzle exit velocities were measured with a Hot Wire Anemometry. The flame patterns were investigated by direct photographing methods using a high speed camera and a digital camera. The results show that the nozzle exit velocities could be controlled diversely and rose up and fell down abruptly, so the valve seemed appropriate for the application for the oscillating combustion burner. Mushroom shaped and highly wrinkled flames were a typical features of the oscillating combustion burner. As the oscillating intensity of the fuel flow increased, the flame length was shortened.

The proportioning valve is driven by a solenoid and has an elastomer part which controls the valve opening area.   • In the brake systems a proportioning valve which reduces the brake pressure at each wheel cylinder for anti-locking of rear wheels is closely related with the safety of vehicles. But, it is impossible for a present proportioning valve to exactly control brake pressure because mechanically it is an open loop control system. So, in this paper we describe a electronic brake pressure distribution system using a fuzzy controller in order to exactly control brake pressure using a close loop control system. The object of electronic brake pressure distribution system is to change an cut-in pressure and an valve slop of proportioning valve in order to obtain better good performance of brake system than with mechanical system.

  • In brake systems, a proportioning valve(P. V), which reduces the brake line pressure on each wheel cylinder for the anti-locking of rear wheels, is closely related to the safety of vehicles. However, it is impossible for current P. V. s to completely control brake line pressure because, mechanically, it is an open loop control system. In this paper we describe an electronic brake force distribution system using a direct adaptive fuzzy controller in order to completely control brake line pressure using a closed loop control system. The objective of the electronic brake force distribution system is to change the cut-in-pressure and the valve slop of the P. V in order to obtain better performance of the brake system than with mechanical systems.

NOx Reduction Study in Oscillating Combustion Burner (진동연소기의 NOx 저감 효과 연구)

  • The NOx emission characteristics were studied in an oscillating combustion burner equipped with a specially designed proportioning valve. The effects of various parameters on the NOx emission which are important in oscillating combustion were investigated. Also, the effects of coincident application of flue gas recirculation(FGR) were evaluated. The results show that oscillating combustion is an efficient tool for reducing NOx in the burner. Up to 53% of NOx reduction could be acquired in low frequency and small duty ratio conditions. The coincident application of FGR further reduced the NOx emission up to 74%. Thus, this study assured that oscillating combustion technology with FGR could be a fascinating method for NOx reduction in industrial burners.
