Design of Robust FPID Controller and Control Characteristics for Load Frequency Control in Power System (전력시스템의 부하주파수제어를 위한 강인한 FPID제어기의 설계와 제어특성)

  • This paper proposes a robust FPID(Fuzzy Proportional Integral Derivative) controller for the LFC(load frequency control) of 2-area power system. The PID gain parameters of the proposed robust FPID controller are self-tuned by PSGM(Product Sum Gravity Method) which is very similiar to human's inference procedures. As the results of simulation, the proposed FPID controller against various load disturbances shows that it is superior to the conventional control techniques such as optimal, PID and fuzzy control in the response characteristics of frequency and tie line power flow.

  • This paper presents a robust speed control of an autonomous vehicle using a disturbance observer. For the purpose, the transfer function of speed dynamics of an autonomous vehicle is identified using step response data. Based on the identified transfer function, model based PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control is designed. In order to design a robust control against load variations on the vehicle, a disturbance observer (DOB) based control is devised. The performance of the designed DOB based control is demonstrated by real experiments.

  • The expert system described in this article tunes a proportional-integral-derivative(PID) controller for a single-input single-ouput process. The expert system examines features of each transient response and the corresponding controller parameters. It determines a new set of controller gains to obtain a more desirable time reponse using fuzzy logic. This technique can be used to determine and implement a different set of PID gains for each operating regime and, once in steady state, the system can be used to find optimal parameters for load disturbance rejection.

  • This paper proposes a Mamdani fuzzy PID controller for controlling a process with small dead time. The controller composes of a parallel structure of fuzzy PI controller and fuzzy PD controller. Each controller has two inputs, error and change of error. Hence, the control signal of the proposed controller is the average value of the output of the fuzzy PI and PD controllers. The Mamdani fuzzy PID controller is easily to be adjusted to meet the desired control system performances both in transient state and steady state.   • This paper presents a robust PID controller design technique using the concept of model matching method in the frequency domain. To design the robust PID controller satisfying disturbance attenuation and robust tracking property for a reference input, first an H$\infty$ controller satisfying given performance is designed using the H$\infty$ control method. And then, the parameters(proportional, integral, and derivative gains) of the robust PID controller are determined using the model matching at frequency domain. The proposed technique is applied to a position controller design of the web. The simulation results show that the proposed robust PID controller satisfies disturbance attenuation and tracking property.

  • This paper focuses on attitude stabilization performance improvement of the quadrotor flying robot. First, the dynamic model of quadrotor flying robot was estimated through PEM (Prediction Error Method) using experimental input/output data. And attitude stabilization performance was improved by increasing the generation frequency of PWM signal from 50 Hz to 500 Hz. Also, the controller is implemented using a standard PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller augmented with feedback on angular acceleration, allowed the gains to be significantly increased, yielding higher bandwidth. Improved attitude stabilization performance is verified by experiment.

  • This paper presents yaw vibration control performances of railway vehicle featuring controllable magnetorheological damper. A cylindrical type of MR damper is devised and its damping force is evaluated by considering fluid resistance and MR effect. Design parameters are determined to achieve desired damping force level. The MR damper model is then incorporated with the governing equations of motion of the railway vehicle which includes vehicle body, bogie and wheel-set. Subsequently, computer simulation of vibration control via proportional-integral-derivative(PID) controller is performed using Matlab. Various control performances are demonstrated under external excitation by creep force between wheel and rail.

  • In this paper, hardware design and implementation of digital controller for the High Precision Digital Power Supply (HPDPS) based on Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is presented. Developed digital controller is composed of high resolution Digital Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) and high resolution analog to digital converter circuit with anti-aliasing filter. And Digital Signal Processor (DSP) has the capability of a few micro-second calculation time for one feedback loop. 32-bit DSP and DPWM with 150[ps] step resolution is used to implement the HPDPS. Also 18-bit 2 mega sample per second ADC board is adopted for the developed digital controller. Also, hardware structure of the developed digital controller and experimental results of the first prototype board for HPDPS is described.
