  • We applies a seasonal ARIMA model to the timely forecasting in a line utilization and its confidence interval on the base of the past data of the line utilization that QoS of the network is greatly influenced by. And this paper proposes the learning algorithm of dynamic threshold in line utilization using the SARIMA model. We can find the proper dynamic threshold in timely line utilization on the various network environments and provide the confidence based on probability. Also, we have evaluated the validity of the proposed model and estimated the value of a proper threshold on real network. Network manager can overcome a shortcoming of original threshold method and maximize the performance of this algorithm.

  • This study presents a mode analysis of 3D turbulent velocity data around a square-section building model to identify the dynamic system for Kármán-type vortex shedding. Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) was first performed to extract the significant 3D modes. Magnitude-squared coherence was then applied to detect the phase consistency between the modes, which were roughly divided into three groups. Group 1 (modes 1-4) depicted the main vortex shedding on the wake of the building, with mode 2 being controlled by the inflow fluctuation. Group 2 exhibited complex wake vortexes and single-sided vortex phenomena, while Group 3 exhibited more complicated phenomena, including flow separation. Subsequently, a third-order polynomial regression model was used to fit the dynamics system of modes 1, 3, and 4, which revealed average trend of the state trajectory. The two limit cycles of the regression model depicted the two rotation directions of Kármán-type vortex. Furthermore, two characteristic periods were identified from the trajectory generated by the regression model, which indicates fast and slow motions of the wake vortex. This study provides valuable insights into 3D mode morphology and dynamics of Kármán-type vortex shedding that helps to improve design and efficiency of structures in turbulent flow.

  • Those who are interested in making inferences concerning linear combination of valiance components in a simple linear regression model with unbalanced nested error structure can use the confidence intervals proposed in this paper. Two approximate confidence intervals for the sum of two variance components in the model are proposed. Simulation study is peformed to compare the methods. The methods are applied to a numerical example and recommendations are given for choosing a proper interval.

  • The first purpose of this study is to build the most effective leisure farming model after classifying them by type, and secondly to examine about how realizing implementation measure of the model. At this time since leisure farm, leisure orchard and leisure ranch were thought as most important types, model for these types was made actually. Three regions in the suburbs of Taejeon city were chosen as proper site in the process of modeling. Methods and contents of public activities for promoting leisure farming were suggested concretely as a measure of carrying out leisure farming plan.

  • A numerical model of refrigerant flow through a capillary tube is developed, which considers the effects of underpressure for vaporization, kinetic energy, and roughness of capillary tube. The numerical model is based on homogeneous flow assumptions for the two-phase flow region. A characteristic chart of HFC refrigerants flow through capillary tubes and correction factor chart of geometry and relative roughness of capillary tube to select a proper capillary for refrigerating machines using alternative refrigerants is presented by this numerical model.

  • Commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes traditionally rely on the computational efficiency of the simplified single-film apparent char kinetic model to predict char particle temperatures and char conversion rates in pulverized coal boilers. The aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability of the single-film apparent kinetic model and to suggest the importance of proper use of this model. For this, a parametric study was conducted with a consideration of main parameters such as Stefan flow, product species, particle evolution, and kinetic parameters.

  • Using the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) based intrusive reduced order model (ROM), the total degrees of freedom of the structural system can be significantly reduced and the critical time step satisfying the conditional stability increases in the explicit time integrations. In this study, therefore, the changes in the critical time step in the explicit time integrations are investigated using both the POD-ROM and Voronoi-cell lattice model (VCLM). The snapshot matrix is composed of the data from the structural response under the arbitrary dynamic loads such as seismic excitation, from which the POD-ROM is constructed and the predictive capability is validated. The simulated results show that the significant reduction in the computational time can be achieved using the POD-ROM with sufficiently ensuring the numerical accuracy in the seismic analyses. In addition, the validations show that the POD based intrusive ROM is compatible with the Voronoi-cell lattice based explicit dynamic analyses. In the future study, the research results will be utilized as an elemental technology for the developments of the real-time predictive models or monitoring system involving the high-fidelity simulations of structural dynamics.

  • This paper proposes methods that replace a missing triphone with a new one selected or created by existing triphones, and compares the results. The recognition system uses DMS (Dynamic Multisection) model for acoustic modeling. DMS is one of the statistical recognition techniques proper to a small - or mid - size vocabulary system, while HMM (Hidden Markov Model) is a probabilistic technique suitable for a middle or large system. Accordingly, it is reasonable to use an effective algorithm that is proper to DMS, rather than using a complicated method like a polyphone clustering technique employed in HMM-based systems. In this paper, four methods of filling missing triphones are presented. The result shows that a proposed replacing algorithm works almost as well as if all the necessary triphones existed. The experiments are performed on the 500+ word DMS speech recognizer.
