The level of sunk cost and risk-taking theory have been offered as one explanation for the escalation of commitment behavior. This Study attempted to replicate Keil's study in Korea. Keil examined the level of sunk cost associated with the risk propensity and risk perception of decision-makers, and these factors are assessed for cross-cultural robustness using matching laboratory experiments carried out in three countries. The level of sunk cost and the risk perception of decision-makers contributed significantly to their continuous willingness to their project. Moreover, the risk propensity of decision-makers was inversely related to risk perception, and this inverse relationship was significantly more weak in Korea than in Singapore. These results show that the sunk-cost effect exists across cultures, and that the risk-taking behaviors are partially mediated by cultural factors.

This study was empirically performed to demonstrate the development propensity and quality of the public software projects in Korea. Tile sample employed in this study contains 168 auditing reports on 107 public software projects which were carried out in the period of 1998 to 2003. The important findings of this study can be summarized as follows. The quality issue in the development process is getting more important with the lapse of time. In addition, the importance of end users' conveniency increases from year to year. Although the Pareto Principle(20 : 80 principle) is not applied strictly, most problems are caused by a few items. Finally, we find evidence that the overall Quality of public softwares is positively influenced by the information system auditing.

SNS has been recognized as a means of expanding social capital by promoting interaction and efficient communication among users. On the other hand, there are serious concerns on negative side of social network which is often called epidemics. Trust plays a critical role in controlling the spread of distorted information and vicious rumor as well as reducing uncertainties and risk from unreliable users in social network. This study focuses on what the antecedents of interpersonal trust are in social network. We performed online survey from 252 Twitter users and tested candidate antecedents which are chosen from previous literature. As a result, propensity to trust of trustor, ability and sincerity of trustee, intimacy between trustor and trustee significantly affected to the interpersonal trust in Twitter.

This paper investigates the effectiveness of public credit guarantee programs and interest-support programs for SMEs (small and medium enterprises). First, assuming that there is an imperfect information structure in the SME loan market, we analyze how SME support financial programs affect the corporate decisions made by SMEs with regard to default or loan sizes. In addition, this paper theoretically computes the optimal levels of credit guarantee amounts and the interest-support spread under equilibrium with imperfect information in a competitive loan market. Second, the paper empirically analyzes the continuous policy-treatment effect with the GPS (generalized propensity score) method. In particular, we consider the ratio of guaranteed debt to the total debt as a continuous policy treatment. The empirical results show that marginal effects of a credit guarantee on SMEs' productivity, profitability, and growth potential decrease with the ratio of guaranteed debt to the total debt. In addition, the average effect of a credit guarantee is maximized when this ratio is at 50% to 60%.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of Student Majoring in Flight Operation's propensity, safety behavior and aeronautical decision-making. According to the analysis results, First, parents' criticism of perfectionism factor is found to have a negative effect on safety behavior. Second, student pilot's proactive personality has a positive impact on both safety participation behavior and safety compliance behavior. Third, both safety participation behavior and safety compliance behavior are found to have a significant effect on situation awareness, solution generation and solution implementation of decision making stages. Therefore, this study is intended to provide useful basic data that can be applied to studies such as appropriate psychological counseling, optimal training directions and teaching methods in order to cultivate excellent human resources through safe flight training.

In this paper, a practical design criteria for judgement of crack occurrence in weldments is presented as a function of typical welding parameters, such as diffusible hydrogen, restraint intensity, and preheating temperature. The elastic analyses using the finite element techniques are employed in order to quantify the restraint intensities, numerically. Systematic experiments are also conducted in order to investigate the propensity of crack to typical welding parameters. The results of numerical estimation using the proposed method for the experimental specimens show the usefulness as a practical tool in welding induced crack problems with extensive uncertainties. The squeal propensity of an automotive disc brake system is studied in the theoretical and computational manner. The rotating disc is in contact with two stationary pads and the nonlinear friction is engaged on the contact surface. The friction-coupled equations of motion are derived in the finite element(FE) of the actual brake disc and pad. From the general definition of friction force, the rotation and in-plane mode effects can be included properly in the brake squeal model. The eigenvalue sensitivity analysis and the mode shape visualization at squeal frequencies are also conducted for the detailed investigation. It is found that the squeal propensity is strongly influenced by rotation effect and the in-plane mode can be involved in squeal generation.

The squeak propensity in the gear box of an automotive seat system is investigated analytically. The mating parts in the gear box are the lead screw and the nut, where the friction stresses are exerted on the thread of the screw. The lead screw is modeled as a circular beam allowing the bending and torsional vibrations. In the system, the lead screw converts rotating to translating motion so that it moves the automotive seat slightly tilted on the floor. The tilting angle is considered one major parameter in this study. Therefore, the equations of motion associated with the non-conservative friction force are derived with the inclusion of the tilting angle. It is found that the squeak noise corresponds to the several bending modes of the lead screw and its propensity is increased by the tilting angle of the seat.

The brake squeal propensity due to the friction-velocity curve is numerically investigated. The finite element models for the disc and pad are correlated with the modal test. In the friction-engaged system modeling, the friction function is linearized at the equilibrium. The damping term induced by friction-velocity slope is incorporated into the equations of motion. In the complex eigenvalue analysis, it is found that the pad shear mode is very sensitive to the friction curve. The results shows that the squeal propensity of the pad shear mode can be controlled by the design parameters such as pressure and stiffness.
