  • In this paper, we studyed the variables in the design of multichip memory modules with 4M$\times$1bit DRAM chips to construct high capacity and high speed memory modules. The configuration of the module was 8 bit, 16 bit, and 32 bit DRAM modules with employing 0.6 W, 70 nsec 4M$\times$1 bit DRAM chips. We optimized routing area and wiring density by performing the routing experiment with the variables of the chip allocation, module I/O terminal, the number of wiring, and the number of mounting side of the chips. The multichip module was designed to be able to accept MCM-L techiques and low cost PCB materials. The module routing experiment showed that it was an efficient way to align chip I/O terminals and module I/O terminals in parallel when mounting bare chips, and in perpendicular when mounting packaged chips, to set module I/O terminals in two sides, to use double sided substrates, and to allocate chips in a row. The efficient number of wiring layer was 4 layers when designing single sided bare chip mounting modules and 6 layers when constructing double sided bare chip mounting modules whereas the number of wiring layer was 3 layers when using single sided packaged chip mounting substrates and 5 layers when constructing double sided packaged chip mounting substrates. The most efficient configuration was to mount bare chips on doubled substrates and also to increase the number of mounting chips. The fabrication of memory multichip module showed that the modules with bare chips can be reduced to a half in volume and one third in weight comparing to the module with packaged chips. The signal propagation delay time on module substrate was reduced to 0.5-1 nsec.

  • In this paper, we proposed adaptive two-way relay cooperative communication considering the quality of the user-relay links, and derived outage probability. Network-coding based two-way relay communication can achieve more throughput since it can reduce transmission time compared conventional two-way relay communication. However, Network-coding based two-way relay communication assume that the relay can decode received signal correctly. If relay cannot decode the signal, it leads to error propagation at the relay. In this paper, we proposed adaptive two-way relay cooperative communication scheme. In proposed scheme, the user "A" transmits the signal to relay and another user "B". The relay operates adaptively depend on quality of user-relay links. Simulation result show that proposed scheme has better performance when the quality of the user-relay links are poor. Also it can get diversity order 2.

  • Since scarcity of spectrum in future mobile networks, millimeter wave frequencies from 30 GHz to 300 GHz have been proposed to be used in an important part of 5G mobile communication backhaul links to provide several giga bits services. In ITU-R has been invited to conduct and complete in time for WRC-19 the appropriate studies to determine the spectrum needs for the terrestrial component of IMT in the frequency range between 24.25 GHz and 86 GHz. Also, small cells such as a femtocell, and heterogeneous networks have been deployed through world in order to enhance the communication capacity. At this stage, it is important to develop millimeter wave frequencies to provide 5G mobile broadband services, and thus this paper proposes the effective usage of these frequencies by summarizing the FCC allocation of millimeter waves, their propagation characteristics, the required minimum path length, and the interference effect.

  • Many plant species have two modes of reproduction: sexual and asexual. Both modes of reproduction have often been viewed as adaptations to temporally or spatially variable environments. The plant should adjust partitioning to match changes in the estimated success of the two reproductive modes. Perennial plants showed that favorable habitats in soil nutrients or water content tend to promote clonal growth over sexual reproduction. In contrast, under high light-quantity conditions, clonal plants tend to allocate more biomass to sexual reproduction and less to clonal propagation. On the other hand, plants with chasmogamous and cleistogamous flowers provides with a greater tendency of the opportunity to ensure some seed set in any stressful environmental conditions such as low light, low soil nutrients, or low soil moisture. It is considered that vegetative reproduction has high competitive ability and is the major means to expand established population of perennial plants, whereas cleistogamous reproduction is insurance to persist in stressful sites due to being strong. Chasmogamous reproduction mainly enhances established and new population. Therefore, the functions of sexual and asexual propagules of perennial or annual plants differ from each other. These traits of propagule thus determine its success at a particular region of any environmental gradients. Eventually, if environmental resources or stress levels change in either space or time, species composition will probably also change. The reason based on which the plants differ with respect to favored reproduction modes in each environmental condition, may be involved in their specific realized niche.

  • The critical velocity effect on railway trackbed means the amplification of vibration energy when the train running-speed and group velocity of ground surface wave are superimposed. It is called a pseudo-resonance phenomenon of time domain. In the past, it was not issued because the train speed was low and the ground group velocity was higher. But since the high-speed train is introduced, critical velocity reported causing a track irregularity. So far, theoretical analysis has been performed because of the complexity of formation process. However it requires reasonable consideration which is similar to actual track and trackbed conditions. In the present paper, finite element analysis to verify the critical velocity effect is performed considering each track structure and trackbed supporting stiffness. As a result, the deformation amplification caused by the critical velocity effect is verified to analyze each supporting stiffness and track system.

  • Recently, the world faces the environmental problem such as air pollution due to harmful gas discharged from car and abnormal climate due to the green-house gases increased by the discharge of $CO_2$. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), one of alternative for this problem, is less harmful, compared to the existing fossil fuel, as gaseous fuel, and less carbon in fuel ingredients and carbon dioxide generation rate relatively favorable more than the existing fuel. However, CNG fuel has the weakness of slow flame propagation speed and difficult fast burn. On the other hand, hydrogen does not include carbon in fuel ingredients, and does not discharge harmful gas such as CO and HC. Moreover, it has strength of quick burning velocity and ignition is possible with small ignition energy source and it's has wide Lean Flammability Limit. If using this hydrogen with CNG fuel, the characteristics of output and discharge gas is improved by the mixer's burning velocity improved, and, at the same time, is possible to have stable lean combustion with the reduction of $CO_2$ expected. Therefore, this research tries to identify the characteristics of engine and emission gas when mixing CNG fuel and hydrogen in each portion and burning them in spark igniting engine, and grasp the combustion stability and emission gas characteristics according and use it as the basic data of hydrogen-CNG premixed engine.

  • The effects of genetic and environmental factors on productivity of a cloned protein were studied in recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Plasmid stability and copy level were very high for a $REP^+$ system(at ca. 10 generations, stability: 65-90%, plasmid copy number per cell: 40-200), whereas these were very low for a yep- system(at ca. 10 generations, stability: 30%, plasmid copy number per cell 20). In plasmids containing the $2{\mu}m$ circle genome, a $[cir^o]$ strain was a preferred host cell since the plasmid stability and the copy number in a $[cir^o]$ strain were higher than in a $[cir^+]$strain. Cloned gene expression was dependent on plasmid copy number and stability. The inducer (galactose) level played a very important role in cloned lacZ gene expression, showing that a galactose concentration of 0.8% was sufficient for induction of gene expression. Induction rate was very fast in the case of plasmids exhibiting high stability and copy number by a factor of 4 to 25. The time to reach the peak value of gene expression was longer when galactose was added at the start of fermentation (ca. 26 hours) than at the mid-exponential phase (ca. 6 hours). Glucose repression was reduced by a factor of 2 to 5 as the relative inducer level increased.

  • Vibration velocity induced by earthquakes or external vibration sources is one of the integrity assessment indexes, and is also a representative value used to describe the amount of vibration because it is based on a proportional relationship with the damage scale. In this study, the vibration velocity criterion for structures is first examined. Then, based on the velocity criterion, an integrity assessment is performed. Burial condition is set up based on the "Highway and Local Road Design Criteria" with API 5L Gr. X65 pipeline(D=762 mm). The FE model considers DB-24 vehicle load as a time function with a varying velocity in the range of $20{\sim}160\;km/h$. Maximum vibration velocity occurs at v=80 km/h and decreases after v=80 km/h. The maximum vibration velocity of buried pipeline by DB-24 loads is about 0.034 cm/s. The velocity that occurs is in the range of allowable values for each vibration velocity criterion. The wave propagation velocity was identified based on attenuation law and the minimum value appears at vehicle velocity 80 km/h that has maximum vibration velocity.

  • This paper proposes the Focused beamforming to estimate the location of target residing near to the observation platform in the underwater environment. The Focused beamforming technique provides the location of target by the coherent summation of a series of incident spherical waveforms considering distinct propagation delay times at the sensor array. But due to the movement of the observation platform and the variation of the underwater environment, the shape of the sensor array is no longer to be linear but it becomes distorted as the platform moves. Thus the Focused beamforming should be peformed regarding to the geometric shape variation at each time. To estimate the target location, the artificial image plane comprised of cells is constructed, and the delays are calculated from each cell where the target could be proximity to sensors for the coherent summation. After the coherent combining, the beam pattern can be obtained through the Focused beamforming on the image plane. Futhermore to compensate the variation of the shape of the sensor array, the paper utilizes the Nth-order polynomial approximation to estimate the shape of the sensor array obeying the water pulley modeling. Simulation results show the performance of the Focused beamforming for different frequency bands of the radiated signal.
