축계용 단조강재 보수 용접부의 피로 파괴 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of the Buliding Up by Welding on the Fatigue Fracture Behaviors for the Forged Steel)

  • In this paper, the fatigue strength and the fatigue crack propagation behaviors of the round bar specimens which were spirally built up by welding and subsequently hardened by quenching were investigated. The material used was SF60 which was whdely employed in mechanical components, especially shafts. Fatigue tests were conducted at the fully reversed condition(R=-1) and axial and load control in the room temperature ahd air environment. The experimental results were expressed by both the range of stress intensity factor ($\Delta{K}$) and the effective range of stress intensity factor ($\Delta{K}_{eff}$). It was clarified that applying of quenching after the building up welding process improved the fatigue strength and the gatigue crack propagation property in the low range of $\Delta{K}$ of the built up round bar specimen.

  • For prediction of railway noise, propagation characteristics must be identified as well as the source characteristics. During the railway noise in outdoor pass the air, various factors affect the propagation. In this study, to suggest more effective and convenient equation to predict railway noise, calculation method for correction factor was investigated.

  • In this paper, we discuss the belief propagation decoding algorithm for polar codes. The performance of Polar codes for shorter lengths is not satisfactory. Motivated by this, we propose a novel technique to improve its performance at short lengths. We showed that the probability of messages passed along the factor graph of polar codes, can be increased by multiplying the current message of nodes with their previous message. This is like a feedback path in which the present signal is updated by multiplying with its previous signal. Thus the experimental results show that performance of belief propagation polar decoder can be improved using this proposed technique. Simulation results in binary-input additive white Gaussian noise channel (BI-AWGNC) show that the proposed belief propagation polar decoder can provide significant gain of 2 dB over the original belief propagation polar decoder with code rate 0.5 and code length 128 at the bit error rate (BER) of $10^{-4}$.

  • The effect of different anisotropy and stress ratio on fatigue crack propagation behavior was investigated under various stress ratio(R=-0.4, -0.2, 0.2, 0.2, 0.4) using pure titanium sheet used in aerospace, chemical and food industry. The rack closure behavior under constant load amplitude fatigue crack propagation test was examined. Fatigue crack propagation rate da/dN was estimated in terms of effective stress intensity factor range, $\Delta$K$_{eff}$, regardless of various stress ratio but was influenced by anisotropy. Also, it was found that the effect of anisotropy was considerably decreased but still not negligible when he da/dN was evaluated by a conventional parameter, $\Delta$$K_{eff}$/E and when the modified da/dN.$\sqrt{\varepsilon}_f$ was evaluated by $\Delta$$K_{eff}$/E. On the other hand, da/dN could be evaluated uniquely by effective new parameter, $\Delta$K$_{eff}$/$sigma_{ys}$, regardless of anisotropy, as int he following equation da/dN=C''[\frac{{\Delta}K_{eff}}{{\sigma}_{ys}}]^{n''}. And effective stress intensity factor range ratio, U was estimated by the following equation with respect to the ratio of reversed plastic zone size, $\Delta r_{p}$ to monotonic plastic zone size, $r_p$ regardless of stress ratio and anisotropy.   • In this study, the propagation behaviour and the closure phenomena of physically small surface cracks were investigated by the techinque of the Kikukawa-unloading elastic compliance method using a back face strain gage. The surface cracks initiated and propagated from notched specimens under constant amplitude bending load. The crack shape (aspect ratio) with approximately semi-circular at the early stage was changed to semi-elliptical as the cracks grew larger. The crack depth (a) could be expressed uniquenly by the crack length (c). The dependence of the crack propagation rate on the stress ratio R was strongly related in the lower ${\Delta}K$ range. The deceleration of the surface crack propagation rate was prominent in lower R during the crack length was small. When the propagation rate was rearranged with the effective stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}$K_{eff} the dependence of the crack propagation rate on the stress ratio R was found to be diminshed. These were caused by the crack closure phenomena that was most prominent at the lower propagation rate. The mechanism of crack closure phenomena was dominated by the plasticity-induced mechanism.

  • The applications of fracture mechanics have traditionally concentrated on cracks loaded by tensile stresses, and growing under an opening or mode I mechanism. However, many cases of failures occur from growth of cracks subjected to mixed mode loading. Several criteria have been proposed regarding the crack growth direction under mixed mode loadings. This paper is aimed at investigation of fatigue crack growth behaviour under mixed mode(I+II) with variation of angle and pre-crack length in two dimensional branched type precrack. Especially the direction of fatigue crack propagation was predicted and effective stress intensity factor was calculated by finite element analysis(FEA. In this paper, the maximum tangential stress(MTS) criterion was used to predict crack growth direction. Not only experiment but also finite element analysis was carried out and the theoretical predictions were compared with experimental results.

소형 인장 시험편 내의 크랙 전파에 대한 구조 안전해석 (Structural Safety Analysis on Crack Propagation in Compact Tension Specimen)

  • 본 연구에서는 소형 인장 시험편에 편심된 집중하중을 가하였을 때, 크랙 주변에서의 구멍의 존재유무, 개수 및 위치에 따른 전파 거동에 대하여 규명하였다. 시뮬레이션 해석을 통하여 시험편에서 발생하는 Strain energy와 변형량, 응력에 대해 알 수 있었다. 그리고 이들 Strain energy와 변형량을 바탕으로 응력확대계수를 구하였으며, 본 연구결과를 이용하면 구조물 내에 결함이나 구멍 등이 있을 때 그 파괴 가능성을 검증할 수 있다고 사료된다.

Back-Propagation방법의 수렴속도 및 학습정확도의 개선 (Acceleration the Convergence and Improving the Learning Accuracy of the Back-Propagation Method)

  • In this paper, the convergence and the learning accuracy of the back-propagation (BP) method in neural network are investigated by 1) analyzing the reason for decelerating the convergence of BP method and examining the rapid deceleration of the convergence when the learning is executed on the part of sigmoid activation function with the very small first derivative and 2) proposing the modified logistic activation function by defining, the convergence factor based on the analysis. Learning on the output patterns of binary as well as analog forms are tested by the proposed method. In binary output patter, the test results show that the convergence is accelerated and the learning accuracy is improved, and the weights and thresholds are converged so that the stability of neural network can be enhanced. In analog output patter, the results show that with extensive initial transient phenomena the learning error is decreased according to the convergence factor, subsequently the learning accuracy is enhanced.

  • As the crack grows in the residual stress fields, the distribution of the residual stress is changed. In this study, a finite element modeling technique is developed to simulate the redistribution of residual stress due to crack propagation. To certify the accuracy, the crack propagation tests were carried out and tile effective stress intensity factor range was evaluated considering the redistribution of residual stress from the FE analysis.
