Mixed Reality Extension System Using Beam Projectors : Beyond the Sight (빔 프로젝터를 이용한 혼합현실 확장 시스템 : Beyond the Sight)

  • Recently commercial mixed-reality devices have be launched and a variety of mixed-reality content has produced, but narrow field of view, which appear to be hardware technical limitations, are mentioned as an important issue for hindering immersion and limiting the scope of use. We propose a new innovative system that cooperate multiple beam projectors and a number of mixed reality devices. Using this technology, users can maximize immersion and minimize frustration of narrow viewing angles through 3D object rendering on background of large 2D screens. This system, named BtS (Beyond the Sight), is implemented on a client-server basis and includes the ability to calibrate between devices, share spatial coordinate systems, and synchronize real-time renderings as core modules. In this paper, each configuration module is described in detail and the possibility of its performance and application is shown through the introduction of mixed reality content case created using BtS system.

  • As digital media technology continues to evolve, media arts are being created using new technologies. Among them, interactive media provides new experience and interest to the audience in that the audience is completed only by participating in the works. The use of these characteristics as a marketing strategy has led to an increase in sales and a positive image of the company. Through this study, we analyze the case of interactive media contents and infer the usage plan and elements. In addition, we propose a prototype of interactive media contents that can be used as a strategic marketing element by exploring ways to utilize interactive media as a marketing element of the film industry. This suggests the development direction of interactive media that provides a continuous and new sense of immersion to the audience, and suggests subsequent research on effective use of the industry as well as movie marketing.

  • In this paper, the writer studies the lighting technology and types used in urban night lighting performance. With the continuous change and innovation of life style in today's society, the multiple functions of the city continue to develop. At present, urban night lighting is not limited to lighting the landscape in the daytime by lighting tools. It uses new digital lighting technology to deduce innovative and constantly changes digital nightscape. In this way, through the integration of urban nighttime lighting and modern digital art, the city's brand image can be improved and its economic development will also be affected.   • This paper applies the natural history contents of the Science Museum and combines the Gestalt theory to develop the butterfly arrangement structure of the butterfly sample box and the butterfly sample information necessary for the sample box as AR (Augmented Reality). Existing analog sample information is expressed as digital information by combining place, butterfly information, and graph to maximize the effect of digital diorama exhibition. Digital natural history information is increased or decreased, and an environment optimized for real samples and suitability is constructed, and natural history contents are arranged in the principles of collectiveness, closure, simplicity, and continuity using the Gestalt visual perception principle to increase attention and increase the attention of butterfly collection information. Was applied as an application plan of AR.

Impact of the Fit of Immersive Technology and Media Art Type on User Commitment and Revisit Intention (몰입형 기술 특성과 미디어아트 관람 특성과의 적합성이 관객의 몰입감과 재방문의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the perceived fit between the characteristics of immersive technology and the type of media art affects commitment, satisfaction, and revisit intention. The results showed that the quality of projection mapping and the reputation of original art had a positive effect on the perceived fit whereas the accessibility of original art had a negative effect on the perceived fit. In addition, the reputation of original art and the perception of fit increased the commitment of the media art exhibition, which positively affected the satisfaction and revisit intention. This study provides theoretical and practical implications regarding the effect of immersive technology and media art type of digital media art.

  • The laser inertial measurement unit is a precision device widely used in rocket navigation system and other equipment, and its quality is directly related to navigation accuracy. In the quality evaluation of laser inertial measurement unit, there is inevitably uncertainty in the index input information. First, the input numerical information is in interval form. Second, the index input grade and the quality evaluation result grade are given according to different national standards. So, it is a key step to transform the interval information input by the index into the data form consistent with the evaluation result grade. In the case of uncertain input, this paper puts forward a method based on probability distribution to solve the problem of asymmetry between the reference grade given by the index and the evaluation result grade when evaluating the quality of laser inertial measurement unit. By mapping the numerical relationship between the designated reference level and the evaluation reference level of the index information under different distributions, the index evidence symmetrical with the evaluation reference level is given. After the uncertain input information is transformed into evidence of interval degree distribution by this method, the information fusion of interval degree distribution evidence is carried out by interval evidential reasoning algorithm, and the evaluation result is obtained by projection covariance matrix adaptive evolution strategy optimization. Taking a five-meter redundant laser inertial measurement unit as an example, the applicability and effectiveness of this method are verified.

Creation of Actual CCTV Surveillance Map Using Point Cloud Acquired by Mobile Mapping System (MMS 점군 데이터를 이용한 CCTV의 실질적 감시영역 추출)

  • Among smart city services, the crime and disaster prevention sector accounted for the highest 24% in 2018. The most important platform for providing real-time situation information is CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television). Therefore, it is essential to create the actual CCTV surveillance coverage to maximize the usability of CCTV. However, the amount of CCTV installed in Korea exceeds one million units, including those operated by the local government, and manual identification of CCTV coverage is a time-consuming and inefficient process. This study proposed a method to efficiently construct CCTV's actual surveillance coverage and reduce the time required for the decision-maker to manage the situation. For this purpose, first, the exterior orientation parameters and focal lengths of the pre-installed CCTV cameras, which are difficult to access, were calculated using the point cloud data of the MMS (Mobile Mapping System), and the FOV (Field of View) was calculated accordingly. Second, using the FOV result calculated in the first step, CCTV's actual surveillance coverage area was constructed with 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, and 10 m grid interval considering the occluded regions caused by the buildings. As a result of applying our approach to 5 CCTV images located in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsnagbuk-do the average re-projection error was about 9.31 pixels. The coordinate difference between calculated CCTV and location obtained from MMS was about 1.688 m on average. When the grid length was 3 m, the surveillance coverage calculated through our research matched the actual surveillance obtained from visual inspection with a minimum of 70.21% to a maximum of 93.82%.

  • Based on the basic concepts and roles of the Science Museum, the research and development of the "Sound Light" interaction exhibition contents and experience exhibition space aimed at providing the exhibition, education and experience of scientific principle directly related to daily life will be implemented in the "Sound Light" exhibition space of the Gwangju National Science Museum. The scope of the research is to define the conditions and elements of the museum's hands-on exhibition by examining the case and status of the existing science museum's experience-type content prior research, and research and development of experience-type exhibition scenarios and contents for children based on them. The results of this research and development content are firstly developed with the theme of light and sound as interactive hologram experience content. Second, by multi-faceted media facade through projection mapping by multiple projectors, visual wide and spectacular screen composition and animation are realized. Third, visitors-oriented exhibitions and experiences that can interact with visitors by moving various colors and sounds together. Finally, interactive content is provided through hologram interfaces through hologram screens to encourage active participation of many visitors in viewing rather than simply delivering exhibition information and to promote revisiting the exhibition. Through a series of studies, it was possible to research and develop contents and experience exhibition spaces with theme park characteristics, which are the trend of science museums.

  • In this research, we describe the method of implementing a 360-degree panorama using one projector, in terms of hardware and in the production of projected pre-distortion images. We propose a method of installing a projector and a reflector on the central ceiling of the space to minimize the shadows generated based on the position of the spectators. We used a virtual camera and virtual space where the projector and hemisphere positions were set to the same as in the exhibition space in Unity. After the image projected on the screen was mapped on the wall of the virtual space, the pre-distortion image was created by the method of capturing from the virtual camera using the ray tracing technique. When the produced pre-distortion image is hemispherical reflected and projected by the projector installed at the same position as the virtual camera, the image is reflected and projected 360 degrees on the panoramic screen.

The Study of Aerial Triangulation Using GPS (GPS를 이용한 사진기준점 측랑에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, GPS-photogrammetry can be applied to the basemap production, a land register and NGIS. And from now on, as the increase of GPS receiver rate, the study on the interpolation methods considering the exact movement of an aircraft at photoflight and the study on the supplement of GPS defect by INS are required continuously. GPS-Photogrammetry, which are based on the direct measurement of the projection centers and attitude at the moment of camera exposure time through loading the GPS receiver in aircraft. This photogrammetric methods can of for us to acquire the exterior orientation parameters with only minimum ground control points, even the ground control process could be completely skipped. Consequently, we can drastically reduce the time and cost far the mapping process. In this thesis, two test flights were conducted in area to evaluate the performance of accuracy and efficiency through the analysis of results between the two photogrammetric methods, that is, traditional photograrammetry, GPS-Photogrammetry. Test results shows that a large variety of advantages of GPS-Photogrammetry against traditional photogrammetry is to be verified. Especially, the number of ground control points for the exterior orientation could be saved more than 70~80%, and the cost far map production 30~50%, respectively. In addition, it was convinced that the large reduction of control points has not any effect on the block accuracy.
