  • Although the depression of oversea construction market becomes more serious recent years, asian construction market is relatively dynamic, particularly in china. However, few research has been conducted about how to manage construction projects in china as foreign developers. Four important risks are identified from series of surveys using the WBS-RBS method, the result shows that the main risk of tender stage is 'Tender max price error', ' Bill of quantities error', 'Unusual low price' and 'Moral risk' respectively.

  • Most construction companies recognize the necessity of risk management. The practical application, however, is not easy because of the absence of systematic procedure for risk management and the difficulty in objectification of subjective risk factors. This study suggests a systematic procedure and a web-based analysis system. In the first place for those researches, this study analyzes the present condition of risk management in the railway facility construction industry. Finally, this study defines risk management procedures as preparation, identification, analysis, response and risk analysis method to manage potential risks in the railway construction project.

  • The developer and user of weapon system must define the requirements of weapon system for the satisfaction of stakeholders and complexity of modern weapons in the developing process of weapon system. The perfect requirements reduce risks of the developing system in the initial step. It is not only economy of time and money but also good for the project of developing system. But, the perfect requirement is very difficult because of contradictions between the user and the developer, and limited conditions. So, the structured method and the process is needed for developing requirements.

  • The Structured Query Language (SQL) Injection continues to be one of greatest security risks in the world according to the Open Web Application Security Project's (OWASP) [1] Top 10 Security vulnerabilities 2013. The ease of exploitability and severe impact puts this attack at the top. As the countermeasures become more sophisticated, SOL Injection Attacks also continue to evolve, thus thwarting the attempt to eliminate this attack completely. The vulnerable data is a source of worry for government and financial institutions. In this paper, a detailed survey of different types of SQL Injection and proposed methods and theories are presented, along with various tools and their efficiency in intercepting and preventing SQL attacks.

It is used to analyze the effect on the dynamic performances according to the variation of primary and secondary suspension characteristics in the condition of 6 cars configuration. The results would be useful to manage the potential risks in the next stage of basic and critical design that will be done by the manufacturing company.

  • Gas & Oil plant construction projects are increasing recently all over oil-producing countries. An EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) company, which participates in the plant projects, should possess pertinent engineering licenses and EPC management skills to create high added-value. Nonetheless, there exist various risks involved in the EPC life cycle process due to such characteristics of construction projects as long duration of construction time and complicated processes along with the procured goods or services subjected to various logistics. The objective of this paper is to analyze the overall EPC life cycle for proper process and to examine various information and document. Additionally, the principal data for the analysis of the EPC process are derived from personal interviews with experts and specialty contractors of the plant projects. The results of this study would be widely used as a guide for efficient and effective management of overseas gas plant projects.

  • The employment of risk management theory in Urban Disaster Management System (UDMS) has become an important trend in recent years. The viewpoint of risk management is mainly a comprehensive risk assessment of various internal and external factors, and a subsequent handling of risks. Through continuous and systematic accumulation and analysis of risk information, disaster prevention and rescue system is established. Taking risk management theory as the foundation, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has developed a series of UDMS in the mega-cities all over the world. With this system as a common platform, OECD cooperates with different cities to develop disaster prevention and rescue system consisting of vulnerability assessment methods, risk assessment and countermeasures. The paper refers to the urban disaster vulnerability assessment and risk management of OECD and the mega-cities of different advanced and developed countries in the world, and then constructs a preliminarily drafted structure for the vulnerability assessment methods and risk management mechanism in the metropolitan districts of Taiwan.

  • International contractors must consider the substantial risks related to unexpected foreign exchange fluctuation incurred by conducting their business and using foreign currencies in foreign countries. Most international contractors attempt to minimize foreign exchange exposure within a manageable range because it may influence the company's fundamental financial structure, reduce market value or profit margins, or disrupt ongoing and future projects. This research provides a qualitative study of existing foreign exchange exposure (transaction, operation, and translation exposure) and current & effective foreign exchange risk management in American and Korean international contractors, as they represent both new and long-time members of the global construction market. Finally, recommendations of techniques for new and existing international contractors to minimize and better manage foreign exchange risk will be offered.

  • A shortage of construction field workers has been a serious problem, both in the developed and in the developing countries. As a solution for conquering this problem, these countries import foreign laborers from nearby less-developed countries. While this contributes to lessening the labor deficiency, foreign workers are relatively inefficient in productivity and are often exposed to the cross-cultural risks due to cultural differences, communication difficulties, different work ethics and customs, etc. Despite these facts, construction firms do not well address these issues and are lagged in establishing an appropriate management strategy against it. This paper presents a practical management plan for foreign construction workers through Focus Group Interviews (FGI) and survey investigation. On this basis, this study examines the level of awareness and important managerial aspects of the issue of foreign laborers. Finally, it suggests a cross-cultural and ready-to-use practical human resource management plan for facilitating the foreign worker's productivity.
